I played when it first came out, then again around 2018. Felt like a huge waste of potential to me. Unless there’s some legal reason, I absolutely cannot comprehend why a normal pokemon battling system wasn’t included.
Unless doing something besides just reskinning their other game (Ingress?) was too much work.
I’m not surprised that something carrying the Pokémon brand is somehow both extremely lucrative but also unwilling to dedicate the minimal effort necessary to add obvious features
I absolutely cannot comprehend why a normal pokemon battling system wasn’t included.
Because it doesn’t fit the design of the game.
Pokemon Go is meant to be played while walking around outside. This means you can’t have a lot of text because glare from the sun will make it too hard to read. The real battle system also requires more congnitive load than most people can handle while walking and takes too long which will lead to people stopping for extended periods of time at which point you’re no longer playing a pedometer game.
It’s not going to be less powerful than the current systems.
It’s not like the headline implies that it could or should be less powerful. It’s a simple headline that conveys a simple message that a regular reader might find worth clicking.
It's a shame that people are being laid off, especially when it seems like it's retaliation for complaining about working conditions. Still, I don't think I'd ever be able to buy anything from ZA/UM after they kicked most of the creators out of the company and took control of the IP.
Yeah, and it went something like “Hay, I am TEH KING” Ghost dudes be like “lolwut? Fuq, die bitch” Aragorn blocks attack with Anduril “Oh shit, lmao, sorry, we gotchu bruh”
The cost of doing business. They will continue to discriminate and it would still be profitable to them.
The judges in these lawsuits don’t seem to understand that it’s not just about paying money and damages back, but making it financially unsustainable to repeat the crime.
If it’s any consolation, there is now a system in place where average people have taken charge of handling shit like this because HR are too busy protecting the company to care. I’m not in AB, but I do know that the system exists and the people running that department give a shit about the people who have problems.
GTA5 was the most profitable entertainment product of all time when it was single player only. It turned a profit in one day. It’s definitely going to have an online mode, but there’s no reason to expect it to forgo single player, especially after rdr2.
I looked into it and yeah, the only thing that made more has been Minecraft. And Minecraft made twice as much. GTAV made twice as much as the one below it.
That’s pretty crazy.
Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand why they focused on multiplayer. Im just a fan since GTA 1. They have a completely different set of values since then, and it’s too bad to see them degrade into Corporate Company No 1. So to speak.
I mean, we got RDR2 5 years ago and that game is a masterpiece. Yes, there is potential for the next thing to suck, but it hasn’t happened yet, so why be pessimistic?
I tried some online stuff (no friends and just casual play) with V and it wasn’t interesting at all to me. Mean the story wasn’t stellar in V but I had enough fun through single player. Hopefully they put at least the same effort in VI’s single player. Though with all the companies wanting more money I bet there’ll be more focus for online from the start this time.
Please backwards compatible, please OLED, please enough power to 720p60fps everything natively (no upscaling, cause that sucks on such low res, Idm 4k upscaling).
1080p60fps on portable would be a dream but I‘m not that delusional.
I‘d also be hyped if they could offer joycons that make it usable for extended amounts of time in portable without destroying my hands or having to rely on third party cases.
Can we add a cheaper non-portable option to the wishlist? I don’t like paying for a screen or battery or junky mobile controllers that I will never use.
? I buy all my games and rip them using my launch Switch. I then enjoy playing them in 4k60fps instead of using the dock, with the saves synced via wifi so I can go back to handheld after.
Out of curiosity, how do you do the save syncing? I’ve already got Yuzu itself all setup, but this would certainly help with some issues that I face when using it.
YOU HAD ONE JOB… to render a damn desert… that is mostly empty… this should work on literally 10 years old gpus with 2gb ram with 100+ fps… they are lazy, they are cheaping out on optimization, game textures do not even look good.
Absolute state of PC Gaming in 2025. It is piss poor, but keep upping ngreedia stock with those $1000 gpus to play vaseline mess with PS3 textures.
Have you ever worked on a game before? I’m curious how you think laziness plays into this when the entire industry is collapsing and everyone would love to hold on to their jobs.
agreed, making video games has gotta be the worst ROI software job in the world. bad hours, bad pay, bad management. anyone who wanted to be lazy could do so anywhere else but video games.
