i think the article specifies that this is a new forecast based upon the Trump admin solidifying the final shape of the tariffs. So it seems unlikely at this phase that they will fold the current numbers, but we all know how smooth and predictable the Trump admin is.

I was pretty fine with the way Last of Us 1 and 2 were handled, did a pretty good job at telling a story, without making it feeling like a linear corridor game. More freedom in a similar type of game would be nice, but generally it just seems to mean more downtime traveling between objectives occasionally interrupted by random encounters. If that is what they mean with more freedom, and not something else like character creation or branching storylines or whatever.
Reading the article, he refers to Elden Ring. I personally hate that kind of story telling though. I know a lot of people are absolutely lyrical about the game, but that’s probably more thanks to the gameplay. The story in that game is just being dripfed without much context and they are being intentionally vague about so many things. It’s more like a passive way of revealing little bits of the world without ever fully explaining anything.
There are certainly people that specifically like that kind of storytelling that puts the onus on the audience to do some digging. It’s why Malazan Book of the Fallen is popular, for example.
It didn’t do as much for me in Elden Ring, but I enjoyed it in Dark Souls 3 and it’s why Demon’s Souls has one of my favorite moments in gaming. Wouldn’t have worked with more explicit narrative.
This mod was hyped previously. DMCAing it right before its release date is a different kind of dick move; especially considering the game is vulnerable to an RCE exploit and the mod would likely patch it to have things move more securely.
The timing of this move makes me want to never buy another game from Activision (or Microsoft, by extension). Just such a blatant exploitation of the community.
I think that’s been the move for awhile now. I have not or will not buy anything Activision or Blizzard, I would rather pirate if I wanted it that bad. But I’m finding that their games now a days are just copy and paste someone else’s usually. This really was a dick move though.
I don’t own either current gen consoles. But I do have a rather up to date PC. I don’t have any current gen consoles when I owned some before (360, PS4) because I don’t like how they handle those consoles. I don’t run windows anymore because I disagree that MY PC that I built is somehow Microsoft’s property if I use their software. I used to be a Halo fan but ever since Halo 4 the series has been rather… Mediocre and I just don’t have time for sub par experiences. In fact I have not touched any AAA titles in so long because they have all been overly save and boring.

Either way, the market isn’t infinite and at some point keeping the existing player base is probably a good idea. So is not pissing of customers with practices that are predatory. Ultimately wild uncontrolled growth is also known as cancer.
No you can be a delusional, corporate happy pill taking person that loves live service games and the enshitification of the gaming sphere drowning in microtransactions driven by psychologists designed specifically to prey on addiction to comment.
Just because the Ubisoft CEO comes up with new flashy words to describe something, it still won’t make up for the fact that this is an awful, unpolished, and unfinished game, just like pretty much anything else Ubisoft released in the last decade, as a first-party developer
