CheeseNoodle,

afaik both are unenforceable since you can only read them after paying for the product.

CheeseNoodle,

These days its incresingly ‘capitalism is when you pay money for the chance to have a thing’

CheeseNoodle,

Chance as in gambling, so often you don’t even get what you pay for even with ‘reputable’ brands. This is particularly bad with appliances.

CheeseNoodle,

Bit of warframe, a lot of deeprock and some stellaris when I have that much free time.

CheeseNoodle,

TLDR: UE5 can be optimized but Unreal also turned it into a bit of a tech demo which can be counter productive at times.

CheeseNoodle,

Honestly kinda miss the OP release bosses, did my first playthrough one them, wouldn’t mind a setting to turn them back on.

Palworld confirms ‘disappointing’ game changes forced by Pokémon lawsuit (www.videogameschronicle.com) angielski

With the implementation of Patch v0.5.5 this week, we must make yet another compromise. From this patch onward, gliding will be performed using a glider rather than with Pals. Pals in the player’s team will still provide passive buffs to gliding, but players will now need to have a glider in their inventory in order to glide....

CheeseNoodle,

Any trademarks they need because Nintendo have allegedly been filing new patents mid-lawsuit in order to justify suing palworld.

CheeseNoodle,

Final Fantasy 7 has a lot of mini versions of this moment because the level art is rarely distinguished from the actual terrain you can interact with so sometimes you kinda get stuck until you realise that this time that little ramp is actually something your supposed to walk up rather than un-interactable scenery like all those previous times.

CheeseNoodle,

There seems to be a lot more customization than in previous games so they’re probably going for a bit of a blank slate feel.

Cities Skylines 2, Kerbal Space 2, Planet Coaster 2, Frostpunk 2... What Went Wrong? angielski

Last few years I’ve been excitedly waiting for sequels from several small-to-medium sized studios that made highly acclaimed original games—I’m talking about Cities: Skylines, Kerbal Space Program, Planet Coaster, Frostpunk, etc.—yet each sequel was very poorly received to the point I wasn’t willing to risk my money...

CheeseNoodle,

KSP1 also had 0 OG devs by the end so KSP2 was sort of doomed from the start.

CheeseNoodle,

Jumped to linux for a test on an old laptop, currently on windows on my main PC but got parts on the way for a new build that’s going to be Linux.

Are there any games you don't play as it was intended to be played? If so, what game and how? angielski

I know I remember seeing some people talk about how nice some of the environments in Hitman were, and that they’d just walk around as a tourist from time to time, treating it like a walking simulator/virtual tourism thing instead of the stealth assassination game it is. Curious about other things like that, where you play a...

CheeseNoodle,

People talk about getting filtered by fromsoft bosses but the goddamn driver tutorial was the hardest shit ever; especially since it used a lot of movie terms so if you weren’t really into american movies about cars half the stuff on the list was kind of gibberish.

CheeseNoodle,

I feel like that one was also due to awful development practices, they had the whole scrapping the entire first 2 years of work thing due to a control freak lead dev who was ultimately releaved of his position (though not until after release iirc)

CheeseNoodle,

So misleading that the RTX shots also use the re-mastered assets making it look like it magically makes the entire game higher res. Reminds me of those clickbait 3D modelling tips videos where all they do is use a ton of subdivision, yeh it looks smoother, its also got like 8x the geometry to work with.

CheeseNoodle,

Is it more understandable can civ 6? I’m a fan of goddamn stellaris and could competently play civ 5 but civ 6 is like being beaten half to death with a textbook on quantumn physics and then told to sit an exam. The tutorial prepares you for the game about as much as a stick of chewing gum prepares you for the beating.

CheeseNoodle,

I could never stand the way recoil works in counterstrike, in any other system your crosshair is moved around and its intutative to compensate for recoil, in counterstrike you just have to memorise the pattern in which the bullets come out of the barrel sideways.

CheeseNoodle,

Art is incredibly valubable, other than wars most of the stuff we remember about past situations is some kind of art (statues, stories, graffiti) Artists on the other than have no percieved value whatsoever.

CheeseNoodle,

Honestly I can’t think of a recent game I enjoyed that wasn’t a narrative-driven story rich game.

CheeseNoodle,

Nah Nintendo has hated Melee in particular basically since Brawl released as it continues to compete with new releases. More recently a community made online + rollback mod has drawn Nintendos usual emulation ire.

CheeseNoodle,

When I was a kid I got spore (on CD)

Why are $70 AAA games slashing prices so drastically? (lemmy.world) angielski

It’s beyond insane to me that a $70 “AAAA” game (kidding, it’s AAA) dips down to the absurd price of $5. I’ve never seen anything like it. Wish the entire Sims 4 “collection” if you can call it that was $5 total, would be incredible, or Starfield.

CheeseNoodle,

Unbound was basically dead on arrival, its practically just heat with re-shade and barely any actual new content.

For me, Cyberpunk 2077 was uninteractive and has low replayablility value. angielski

Been playing this game for weeks. I completed it and then started a new game. The game’s story is excellent, but it absolutely does not justify the tedium it makes you endure to experience it. In a 40 minute sitting, I’d spend the entire thing simply having characters dialogue at me. What’s the point of the open world...

CheeseNoodle,

I agree the main story isn’t that re-playable, though I’d say phantom liberty is worth 2 playthroughs because the endings diverge pretty heavily and actually have gameplay to go with them. I find the best way to play it is to do minnimal main story, crank up the difficulty, maybe install some mods and then play it as an rpg with all the side gigs.

Installed just using Vortex Mod Manager, played on very hard and trying to pick the stats and gear that I think I would pick if I actually got isekai’d into cyberpunk or something, also no crafting guns except when home at my apartment.

CheeseNoodle,

Echo the Dolphin being purged is worth the loss of the other 59.

CheeseNoodle,

The final, ultimate, last, epilogue, finishing, concluding update.

CheeseNoodle,

If the planets are static and its just the ship that has to calculate N-body physics then its a pretty simple summing of vectors. It only becomes a problem when you have multiple non-static bodies that interact with eachother being simulated.

CheeseNoodle,

I remember reading that Japan is very weird in regards to patent law, there’s almost no oversight whatsoever even for incredibly basic concepts like a title screen but there’s kind of a general agreement not to sue eachother. Assuming thats true Nintendo is currently burning a lot of face right now by breaking that precident.

CheeseNoodle,

CDPR? admittedly they’re really good at gaining it back again, kinda homer simpsons vibes where they repeatedly fuck up but then make an honest attempt to make things right only to repeat the cycle all over again.

CheeseNoodle,

I feel like the villains weren’t awful (yes the rest of the writing was awful) but gearbox didn’t really commit to the bit hard enough. At the start of the game they were clearly being set up as vapid streamer culture twins but it never really escalated beyond that, instead of ticktock villains we just got villains who happen to use ticktock. It was like if upon reaching the city in BL2 Handsome Jack just continued being a corrupt CEO with a penchant for robots and didn’t spiral all the way into megolomania.

CheeseNoodle,

Good idea bad execution, if it had escalated to raiding a warehouse full of people strapped into vr goggle to up their view numbers and destroying a crowdfunded giant laser to carve their faces on the moon then they could have made for really good villains. Instead we got stale memes, also the final boss fight was somehow worse than BL1.

CheeseNoodle,

Someone on my discord posted the warranty terms and apparently it doesn’t cover unusual damage or useage such as exposrure to rain, sunlight or being used off a paved road. So no its not a truck, in fact it doesn’t even stand up as a car.

CheeseNoodle,

Last I saw it the game was pretty functional in some aspects but we’re now at a point where some of the older assets look 2 generations out of date so the game is accumulating a growing amount of artistic debt where the old stuff just doesn’t fit with the newer stuff anymore.

CheeseNoodle,

Its worth mentioning that the 12 years was not at all productive. The first 6 years was basically just two guys with rough concepts, only 6 years of actual dev time. Then about 3 years in they got a new creative lead on the project who decided to scrap essentially everything and start from scratch on a whim. Then the devs get the release date the same time we do which is 2 years earlier than they expected having assumed that they’d get around 5 years of actual dev time since being made to start over.

So yeh there was a lot of screwing around by management.

CheeseNoodle,

Microsoft have been doing this for decaces, they’re low key known for aquiring good IPs and then just shuttering them forever.

CheeseNoodle,

Its because they fired or otherwise pushed out every single original developer towards the tail end of KSP1.

CheeseNoodle,

Not to mention the physics are stable enough that people were building helicopters using stage seperators and landing gear long before we got any real joints.

CheeseNoodle,

Honestly what roblox kids are willing to do for pitiful pay is scary, if you work in any kind of creative digital medium those kids will do days of your job for a fiver if any real money at all. It won’t be industry quality or anything but damn we got a whole digital version of sending kids down the mines. (And some of these roblox games can have unexpectedly big players behind them exploiting kids)

CheeseNoodle,

The game cube ended up being a bit of a curse for nintendo though, or at least they seem to view it as such.

CheeseNoodle,

Its a shame too because it ended up with some really amazing titles (got one as a hand-me-down from an older sibling) that nintendo now keeps trying to kill.

CheeseNoodle,

Cyberpunk has really come into its own. I just wish it had more cosmetic options, outside a few iconic outfits there aren’t many options for good looking clothing unless you want to look like a member of a grunge band or go full casual daywear.

CheeseNoodle,

Martials are “balanced” its just that they’re balanced around like 8 encounters a day with multiple short rests so that casters actually have to conserve their slots. Which is of course a stupid goddamn way to balance the game because no ones going to play it that way.

CheeseNoodle,

Nah man BL2 just has the worst scaling ever. Weapon damage scales logarithmically with level (more or less) so you level up once and all your gear is immediately behind. The other games in the series are way less harsh with it.

CheeseNoodle,

Also games have gotten way more complicated since the gameboy colour era. I’ve coded a basic 2D physics engine from scratch (literally just circles with soft collisions) and its not just enough to set up the vector math correctly. You can literally make a true to real life physics model (as far as the math of infinitely rigid perfect spheres on a perfectly flat plane goes anyway) and have all sorts of problems crop up because computers aren’t the universe and order of computation is a bitch.

CheeseNoodle,

On one hand people can be jerks, on the other hand there definetaly is a trend of releasing broken games with a ‘patch it later’ mentality.

Its kind of hard to take a side because people being assholes isn’t the solution but remaining civil is just going to encourage the behaviour and we’ll get even more broken releases.

CheeseNoodle,

Didn’t colonial marine turn out to actually have really good AI that totally changed the game feel that had been broken by a single misplaced semi-colon or something?

CheeseNoodle,

I’ve been waiting so long for a good MMO again. Runescape kinda imploded and I could never get into WoW because its just so horrificly disjointed by all the unmanaged feature creep.
