It is, in fact, not BS to be mad at a megacorp for cutting valuable and functioning assets, and the fact you do not understand that is hilariously pathetic.
If you’re aware of people and games that do fit, then whining about it and talking about how they get crapped on instead of how cool their sfuff is doesn’t help, either!
You seem to be more willing to paint things negatively than help improve, so why should we listen?
I mean, yeah, if you’re expecting intelligent long term decisions, those expectations are still too high.
Remember: This is the group of people STILL actively trying to cover up anthropogenic climate change. Something that not only threatens their long term profitability, but literally threatens the planet with extinction.
When reaching out to politicians, a MUCH better angle might be devices that get the same treatment, and then just make sure video games and other software get included.
Example: Fitbit and other purpose-built devices. A TON of functionality goes down when they shutter their servers. To the point where some devices immediately become e-waste.
These companies are literally producing toxic garbage.
Oh, it VERY much will hurt their sales, just not this quarter. Though in ten years when Nintendo is wondering why they’re struggling to grow a new fan base, they might remember all the people they pissed off who now are not introducing their children to Nintendo.
If people are paying for it, there should at least be a significant communicated EOL plan. It’s also highly arguable that at ‘least’ executables should be released for self-hosting. I haven’t even seen the video or campaign, it’s just common sense. I am a software engineer that gets paid to maintain this kind of stuff, and I’d be PISSED if a big chunk of my body of work became useless for any other reason than the task it solved became superfluous.
With video games, very little of the end-user experience is superfluous ever (I mean, plenty of dud unoriginal games, but…), so the whole industry deserves some preservation laws. At least don’t punish people for doing for free what the companies refuse to do…
FOMO-leveraging shit needs to stop. All it does is make me not want to touch the thing at all because I know I don’t have the time to do all the things in a season.
NMS isn’t so bad at it, but seriously FUCK the games that leverage it. Almost as bad as microtransactions.
Oh they definitely say that, and some are dumb enough to shop around for engineers they can bully. Just look at the Millennium Tower in San Fran. Idiot investors found engineers they could bully, built an inadequate foundation, and are now trying to save the building. A huge building they just built.
Don’t call them gamers, that gives them credence and insults actual gamers. Call them what they are: insecure babies. There are many, many insecure babies with the exact same opinion that do not play games. They are worse than the gamer bros, because they’re out harassing people face to face.
The problem isn’t games or gamers or gamer culture. It’s ignorant bigots. (yes, I know it’s still fun to make fun of gamergate crap, that’s why I still upvoted the joke)
Well my point is that since the content is directly related, it actually doesn’t matter what they called it. It would’ve been exactly the same amount of infringement if they called it, “happy fun times at the science lab”.
The only differnce is it would’ve been less obvious to identify.
There is FOSS that can control most RGB schemes that can be controlled from software.
Though I’m sortof like you in that I installed nothing, so I don’t have references or a user experience. Luckily, I could turn off all the BS in the BIOS, so I have a nice and dark machine without having to dig.
Kickstarter is a separate kind of the same problem: Greedy fucks leveraging systems against us. Any time money is exchanged, there WILL be shitheads trying to get some for nothing.
It becomes a problem when the systems at hand reinforce those shysters. Kickstarter is rife with scams, and capitalism in general is rife with lazy greedy fucks. The problem is, they don’t get punished for being lazy greedy fucks.
They have to rip off and harm a bunch of people before anyone will do a damn thing, and even then… If it’s a rich person or corp, the government might just shrug and say it’d be too expensive to enforce the laws…
There is a BIG problem, and it’s not the consumers.
