If I had to pick all time? 3DS! It has sooo many games with supporting the DS and 3DS library, DSiWare, and of course homebrew.

If I’m picking my current favorite I’ve got to go with the Playdate. It’s portable and has a lot of fun small-scale games.

Any Playdate owners in here?

Hi, all. So I just made a semi-impulse purchase of a Playdate console. While I’m waiting for it to arrive, I would like to hear from you guys. If you have it, what has your experience been? Is it as good as some reviews make it seem? How big of an issue is the lack of backlight? Any favourite games?

I love mine! The catalog has a ton of awesome community games, itch has hundreds more, and the sdk is really accessible if you ever want to try making something yourself. The season has a lot of variety too, I played through most of it slowly but still have a few of the longer games to finish.

I use a book light at night so don’t have issues with the lack of backlight.

As for games… Factory Farming (source code available!), MDMA, and Hand of the Divine are my current favorites. I’ve played a ton more though, I’d recommend looking through catalog

Almost beaten Mars After Midnight, it’s a great little game!

I’ve also been playing the SW Battlefront rerelease on switch!

  • I like 1 more than 2, 2 has way too many people rolling and I like the maps from 1 more
  • 1 is also less balanced. I got 30 kills camping next to a gonk droid and recon droning orbital strikes over and over
  • There’s not many players, the most I’ve played with on one map is 20
  • Multiplayer crashes are annoying but otherwise I’ve been enjoying it
  • Galactic Conquest is as good as ever

This growing group of people want to believe themselves a new incarnation of Gamergate, a harassment campaign started in 2014 that targeted women speaking out against misogyny in the video games industry.

I’m so glad journalists aren’t giving them false legitimacy. There’s a user that posts gaming news to another lemmy community and they said it was a “harassment” campaign (the quotes being theirs) and… yikes

You’re right, it started as a harassment campaign and they used ethics in games journalism as a recruitment tactic. Most of the people roped in were (at least initially) useful idiots

I played a bit of Bootstrap Island tonight, it’s fun! It’s a vr roguelike island survival game, monsters come out at night and it’s pretty fuckin scary

It has Papers Please vibes but with a goofy alien theme that’s friendlier for kids

The podcasts were the main thing I interacted with nowadays so I’m glad those are sticking around, but I grew up with the company and it’s sad to see it go. I hope the roost can continue but I don’t see how this doesn’t hurt the remaining talent.

FO3’s after-ending story play was added in a DLC, I remember one of the devs being surprised at how many people wanted to play in a post-story world
