And they just started uploading Zero Punctuation (same-day) to YouTube! Ah well, guess I’ll unsubscribe. Sad to see

GammaGames, (edited )

They were uploading it staggered a week to try to get people to watch the brand new episodes on their site. It didn’t work, so they decided to put them on YouTube same day earlier this year.

Edited to make it clearer

GammaGames,

Still playing Snowrunner! Just started exploring the second area of Michigan, SO CLOSE to unlocking off-road tires for my fleetstar

GammaGames,

Dev Game Club did a few episodes on Asylum recently, I agree!

GammaGames,

They’ve been experts for longer than a single night, don’t you remember when all anybody said was to jUsT FiX tHe NeTcOdE!

GammaGames,

This sounds awesome, extraction shooters are a genre I’m glad is taking off

GammaGames,

Fair! The place I’ve played it most is a VR mod called Escape from Pavlov, so it was a bit basic feature-wise but still a ton of fun

GammaGames,

The Witness may be one of the best puzzle games I’ll never beat. The repeated Aha! moments are something else

GammaGames,

I should try out the sequel! I played the first when it originally released and it felt just right for what I was looking to get out of it.

GammaGames,

I recently discovered Snowrunner and have been having a ton of fun playing on the switch! I’ve also rolled down the same hill multiple times 🥲 though I’m learning to tame the mud

GammaGames,

It is! Last night I discovered the fleetstar had awd in the garage 🥴 I’ve built two bridges, fixed two rockslides, and pulled the truck to the farm in the time since!

What is something (feature, modes, settings...) you would like to see become a standard in video games? angielski

I’ve been thinking about making this thread for a few days. Sometimes, I play a game and it has some very basic features that are just not in every other game and I think to myself: Why is this not standard?! and I wanted to know what were yours....

GammaGames,

Those loading screens that recapped the story in Arkham City.

GammaGames,

This meaning that glasses wearers will be able to use the headset from the off without having to buy extra spacers

Finally! Now if only they’d support a wider ipd

GammaGames,

There’s been a bunch of Creeper Worlds, they’re all fantastic! 3 was my favorite, though 4 was a solid entry (and is )

GammaGames,

Context, for anyone that missed when that happened: youtu.be/w604gS_Sm0g

GammaGames, (edited )

I haven’t seen anyone using their old logo. All the articles and thumbnails use the new one

Edit: I was wrong, clearly the old logo is still being used! It’s not as far as the original reply indicated though, I’ve still seen a majority using the new logo (unless your primary metric is thumbnails on lemmy)

GammaGames,

I do see that the verge used the old logo at least once (but it’s been a majority the new logo) and engadget has been a mix, but all the YouTube coverage I looked up had the new logo 🤷‍♂️ I guess it is a mix!

GammaGames,

Still apologizing for the confusion 🥴

Game developers flee Unity after exorbitant price plan announced, but not everyone can get out (boingboing.net) angielski

Unity isn't a game engine. It's a malware-pushing advertising network which merged with a game engine to acquire a delivery channel and now wears its skin. This is fine for the bigger devs and publishers structured around platform relationships, but for everyone else? Gamemaker, Godot, Unreal, Defold… pick a flavor, they're...

GammaGames,

It’s a malware-pushing advertising network which merged with a game engine

FYI the accusations that were flying when they merged with IronSource were misleading: IronSource malware came from “bad actors who abused the platform”

Not that it makes it any better, they will somehow be tracking installs anyway. Inaccurately, since they went from “The creator will need to pay for all future installs. The reason is that Unity doesn’t receive end-player information, just aggregate data” to “The spirit of this program is and has always been to charge for the first install and we have no desire to charge for the same person doing ongoing installs” in the span of 24 hours. I’m having a hard time trusting anything they say.

GammaGames,

No

GammaGames,

Check out my other comment, that was misleading info spread when the news first started circulating about their merger

GammaGames,

Considering it applies to games released before 2024… they would have to already have their own tracking built in

GammaGames, (edited )

They originally said they couldn’t:

Yes. The creator will need to pay for all future installs. The reason is that Unity doesn’t receive end-player information, just aggregate data.

But have since tried walking it back (with a healthy dose of gaslighting):

We are not going to charge a fee for reinstalls. The spirit of this program is and has always been to charge for the first install and we have no desire to charge for the same person doing ongoing installs.

Direct Downloads always lead to "check internet connection" angielski

This is something I’m noticing in the ROM space, especially for non-retro titles like WiiU titles. The file sizes are often very massive, between 5 and 20 GB. Downloading from these places, especially the internet archive has a download speed of maybe 500 megabytes per hour. It’s quite slow compared to torrents, but when it...

List of specific video game communities on the Threadiverse, feel free to comment with more (kbin.cafe) angielski

When I mean “specific,” I mean things like something dedicated to a certain genre, a certain video game, to gaming suggestions, to asking whether you should buy a certain game… anything that isn’t just one catch-all for any video gaming topic. So I’m not including the various !games@instance or !gaming@instance links....

Consumer Nintendo Switch 2 rumored to have more RAM than the Xbox Series S (www.notebookcheck.net) angielski

A new Nintendo Switch 2 rumor has surfaced claiming that the next-generation hybrid console could actually arrive with more memory than a powerful rival like the Microsoft Xbox Series S. The same source has also offered an update in regard to the Switch 2’s potential DLSS support and ray-tracing capabilities.

GammaGames, (edited )

Here we go again with the rumors 🙃 the worst part of the Nintendo console lifecycle

That being said, DLSS would be awesome on something like the switch

GammaGames,

A Nintendo console with anti-aliasing in first party games would be revolutionary lol

GammaGames, (edited )

Personally, I only want it in the dock. Handheld doesn’t have to be that high res but it would be really nice to have in TV mode

GammaGames,

LOL this was great, Mike is funny! Dunkey released a similar type of video for his Starfield “review”

GammaGames,

How do you like it? I’ve heard good things

GammaGames,

It always looked nice for something to do during a lunch break, play a little destiny.

GammaGames,

30 years, wow! Pretty big shame to see another studio shut down

GammaGames,

Prepare yourself, we’re in for these mockups until Nintendo does an official announcement 🙃 maybe we’ll get lucky and a few talented artists will fool the internet again

GammaGames,

Anything that doesn’t revolutionize a genre is seen as inferior nowadays :/

GammaGames,

This looks like it was done mostly to stop emulating on PC. I’m curious what the performance hit will be.

And I agree with you, denuvo is silly

GammaGames,

I hadn’t looked into it much until last week, now I’m hoping I get it as a birthday gift 😆

GammaGames,

Since early 2021, looks like it has 80s on metacritic

GammaGames,

Sounds like they’re using AI to help:

the modders are also using an early version of RTX Remix to add extra model detail (through Valve’s Hammer editor) and rework materials with physical-based rendering properties.

I’m curious how much effort the tools remove

GammaGames,

Been following Wood’s progress on this since he was doing initial prototyping, it’s coming along really well!

GammaGames,

Lethal League rocked, I’ll have to try this out!

GammaGames,

MW2 had some awesome maps, I still play modded versions of a few of them on VR. Zombies mode sounds interesting too:

You’ll be able to team up with other squads for the first time and try to survive “massive hordes” of zombies.

GammaGames,

This looks great! Wish there was a linux build, I had to watch the itch playthrough
