Sibbo,

I don’t know about you people, but given how much stress Disco Elysium puts on how fucked up the main character is, I feel like it is no surprise that its developers get into conflicts all the time.

  • Updated Steam Agreement drops arbitration and allows for class action waiver (lemmy.world) angielski

Noticed this just moments ago and got this email. At first seeing this I thought that were forcing users into arbitration like many other companies have trended towards. That and the denial of class action suits included in many ToS agreements take away the users rights....

    Sibbo,

Well, after Disney got quite some bad press for taking the right to accidentally kill people that have tried out Disney plus, it seems to be quite a logical move.

Steam probably realised that they cannot claim these things in court without seriously hurting their reputation.

Oxenfree is being completely removed from itch.io in October (www.gamingonlinux.com) angielski

Luckily it’s DRM-free. Back up your installers. I wanted to call attention to this, because in a very unusual move, it’s being removed even for people who own a copy, whereas usually stores will only remove a game from sale and still host the files for existing owners to download.

    Sibbo,

No reason has actually been given as to why. Most likely, this is coming from Netflix, who actually acquired Night School Studio back in 2021. Probably as they’re trying to pull in more people to play games under their umbrella directly on Netflix.

It’s sad that digital subscription services reserve the right to remove your subscription. If you are in EU, consider signing the Stop Killing Games Petition

    Sibbo,

Sounds a lot like they tried to make a “game like dead space”. But then by trying to imitate that, they necessarily and almost predictably fell short behind the original.

    Sibbo,

You mean poker without real money? Because there are a lot of gambling sites, I would believe that some of them also offer poker. But please, there are better things to do with your money. You could donate it for example.

    Sibbo,

Arguably, they could just make movement a separate kind of action in DOS as well.

There is one skill in DOS2 that grants a free movement action every turn. I use it for my backstabbing rogue, and it rocks!

    Sibbo,

Still playing Divinity Original Sin 2. The sale will be over by the time I finish.

    Sibbo,

If you like RPGs with difficult round-based combat and lots of story you will probably enjoy it.

Do you find open source games interesting/good thing as a gamer?

@games I am a game developer working on game called Mushy Score. I decided that my niche would be to create open source games. I think these could be helpful for developers or teachers to teach about games and how they are made. Most open source games are small game jam games, but there are few “real games” that are open source like 0 A.D. and Doom. As a non-developer do you think open source games could be good thing?

    Sibbo,

If you actually want to make games for a living, then don’t do open source. Have people pay for enjoying your work. If it is a hobby, open source may be beneficial, because you can then team up with other hobbyists.

    Sibbo,

Fair point. But then, would anyone actually care that it is open source? I am not sure if there is a larger target group that would be more inclined to buy a game because of that. Maybe you can use it for marketing though?

    Sibbo,

I honestly think the price is very reasonable, given the amount of playtime you can easily sink into this game. And compared to other train simulators, where each new track and each new locomotive costs another 10€, this is incredibly cheap.

    Sibbo,

Thanks, that looks cool! It’s a nice idea to include the environmental aspect, and also make it multiplayer.

    Sibbo,

Sabotage is a fun idea! Would also be cool as an option in multiplayer, where you can break down other people’s power plants this way. And maybe even blow up their nuclear plants?

    Sibbo,

Factorio. Hardly anything is as fun as building my factory while listening to a good podcast.

    Sibbo,

Given that they have you meet a cowboy at the end of that mission, it is kinda understandable. I wonder who thought that having a cowboy as a main character would be a good idea for people outside of the US.

    Sibbo,

I first thought that this must be some illegal form of abuse of market power, but then I realised that consoles are purposefully made to run only the software specifically made for them. So they are kinda digging their own grave.

    Sibbo,

Why didn’t humanity collaborate on a free and open source game engine already? It works with OS kernels, then why not game engines?

    Sibbo,

In that case, this unity price change may be the company giving up, knowing that they will be eaten by open source soon

    Sibbo,

I know bevy and I know that it is certainly far behind Godot. It’s written in Rust though, so that gives it a lot of future potential, compared to Godot especially.

    Sibbo,

Yeah but why? Does it cost money to keep the game available?

    Sibbo,

It’s just a picture of a list of bullet points, and the text is pretty small for mobile

    Sibbo,

But noone ever finishes an RPG, right?

    Sibbo,

I think this is a really nice idea! By having different planets, this is basically four different expansions in one, plus the space stuff. I am really interested in what will make the planets special. One looks kinda deserty (no water?), one looks very green (dangerous fauna?), and the last one rather icy (will the cold be a problem?). Whatever they chose for the planets, I am sure it is gonna be really interesting!

    Sibbo,

Let’s not overhype it, okay? Better to be surprised by how good it is than to be sad because it does not live up to expectations.

    Sibbo,

Maybe wait a month or so until the bugs are fixed. It would be sad to be frustrated by that.

    Sibbo,

Very good point. Everything that we get now is marketing.

    Sibbo,

How is this an unlisted video with some 250 views that seems like a high quality production on a channel with 1.2 million subscribers?
