Which year was the most stacked for game releases? angielski

I’m thinking 2015 - Witcher 3, Undertale, and Kerbal Space Program are all classics. Fallout 4, Arkham Knight, and Cities Skylines were all excellent too, though fallout 4 and Arkham knight aren’t necessarily the best games in their respective series.

I’d go back to maybe 1997 bit there are so many good years to choose from.

I really liked my 3DS and especially StreetPass and getting all those puzzles pieces. I’d take it to work with me everyday but once I lost all my progress I eventually just stopped playing on it.

I’m keeping an eye on the new dual screen handhelds but will wait a bit longer and see how it fares.

For a recommendation, the Boxboy! games are great fun.

Portal 2 is a classic and I enjoyed Tales from the Borderlands.

I’m less than a minute in and I’d hardly call Nintendo petty for wanting to stop someone naming their shop “Super Mario” and with a picture of Mario as the logo… It couldn’t look any more Nintendo-esque.

I’ll stop here thanks.

Star Wars Squadrons is pretty good fun.

I just want to rush down a steep ramp, jump, hear whooshing sounds and land (with skis on my feet and in first person) for points. angielski

Is Winter Games 2023 still the most recent/best game I can do that with? It seems like such an under developed genre considering everything else in the entire world has a simulator game now.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Steep has an Olympics dlc but I’ve not played it so can’t say for sure if it’s what you’re after. The main game is amazing though.

I’m playing through Yakuza at the moment and never bothered with HD textures before so will have a look at that myself.

This is the best way. Give your time and money to something you believe in instead of wasting a moment on something you don’t.

Updates to Xbox Game Pass: Introducing Essential, Premium, and Ultimate Plans - Xbox Wire [prices going up] (news.xbox.com) angielski

They’re trying to soften the blow by adding new features to each tier, but it’s still just to disguise a price hike. More games are coming to the $15 tier, but it still won’t be day and date releases. First party games come to the $15 tier “within a year”, but that’s even excluding Call of Duty.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

It started off very good actually with the £1 upgrades and converting existing subs (so 3 years of Game Pass for £70!) but it’s time has come to an end.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Same. Never played the full game but the demo was great fun.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve been looking forward to this the most after playing the demo many many times.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I recently discovered what this is on my handheld and there are come really fun games. I’ve been playing Celeste Classic today and another that was an Outrun-esque that I forget the name of.

Probably 90% of games that are 10+ years old will be playable.

For example search for “metacritic pc games 2013” etc and change the year.

Is this month's Humble worth it if I'm not into Persona? angielski

Humble changed their pricing model this year, so it’s my last year subscribing, so I want to use a little more discretion and skip some months because they do have “tent poles” that interest me sometimes. This month the tent pole is Persona 5, which I hear is good, but I still have Persona 4 on my backlog and it doesn’t...

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

It seems like this month is not for you.

I know that my wife really likes My Time in Sandrock and my kids enjoyed Lil Gator so it’s not all bad though.

Skies of Arcadia Legends

I’ve barely played this version and it really makes it less of a chore compared to the Dreamcast version.

Squad

It’s hard to recommend to new players because of some big issues the game has but it’s the only game that I play 90% for the social interaction it brings.

Looking forward to this as it should be a great quick resume game. Nice and chill just jumping in/out for long deliveries :)

Red Dead Redemption 2 was amazing. angielski

Right now, I don’t have a PC. Long ago, when I did have one, the first AAA game I ever played was Red Dead Redemption 2. I have played other games, but I feel like RDR2 surpasses all of them and is legitimately one of the greatest games ever made. The amount of details dedicated to realism, the solid storyline, the amazing...

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

It’s good but I didn’t really get on with it after a couple chapters. It constantly goes through highs and lows, and although I can be fun I found the lows to be absolute boredom.

What game sequel ruined a beloved franchise or character for you? angielski

You fell in love with a game and it's characters, sunk hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours into it. It became a comforting, immensely satisfying part of your daily life. Then you heard a sequel was coming and got really hyped but when it came out it was utter rubbish......

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I wouldn’t go as far as ruined but Halo 4/5/Infinite all suck.

This kind of update is always welcome. Probably 80% of my console time is spent on backwards compatible games anyway.

@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

There are so many games being made nowadays that it’s not even hard to avoid the shitty “service” games. It’s just that the mainstream gamer/society doesn’t bother looking but there are plenty of games with closure.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Sega had it very rough in the late 90s and 00s which didn’t help but recent time have been much improved for the blue hedgehog. I agree with what you’re saying though that the respect wasn’t there, for Sonic and even their company history.

World Rally Championship in the arcade was my first experience and have been a fan ever since. Even though I have EA WRC, Dirt Rally games and a wheel/pedal setup I mostly play Art of Rally.

For people who want to play their favorite games but are unable to, what are you currently doing? angielski

I sold my PC yesterday because of financial struggles and as far as I’m aware, I would probably be unable to buy a PC or console ever again. That said, I still want to somehow experience the games I would otherwise want to play on PC. I’m thinking of watching let’s plays but of course, that’s not the same as actually...

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I’m sorry to hear that. Obviously we don’t know your situation but I just want to say that gaming doesn’t have to be expensive so hopefully you’re back to it sooner rather than later.

B0NK3RS,

It’s not Valve/Steam killing Xbox. Microsoft is killing Xbox.

Switch 1 would be my recommendation.

What are your favourite single-player games without much fluff, grinding or difficulty spikes? angielski

Hello, in the recent years I find myself willing to spend much less time and energy on games, but I do still enjoy them. Oftentimes I end up quitting a new game I tried out relatively early on, because I’m encountering some block, grind, non-optional boring side quest, empty open world, uninteresting clutter or details that I...

I’m interested but will wait until release to get excited.

B0NK3RS,

A great read as always. Thanks for the Xbox tip, that shit was annoying having the hub pop up instead of launching the games. If it wasn’t for quick resume I think the Xbox would be gathering dust… all the updates to it nowadays are ruining it more and more.

B0NK3RS, (edited )
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

That’s probably mostly true but optimisation is becoming a lost art form that some devs just don’t know.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I’ll admit I’m very pessimistic they will continue the upwards trend but with the remakes/reboots/sequels due (hopefully) later this year I hope they do.

I really like my Series S but having a few games be X exclusive would be fine. It’s definitely holding the X back at this point.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

DK64 for me too. I played the shit out of it for probably a solid 6 months to a year and loved it but it has no doubt aged badly.

The same can be said about the average Steam Deck owner.
