CaptainBasculin,

The patches are mostly community fixes, which is not the way to treat a game that makes tens of millions per year. The game’s matchmaking is broken and needs either a major rework or outright removal. Some recent change broke MvM to the point it takes hours to queue up.

CaptainBasculin,

A lot of people prefer community servers and want Valve to outright remove matchmaking for reasons like

No team switch on matchmaking

shorter game times outside of control from players

end game map vote instead of near when the game ends (which also breaks randomly)

matchmaking putting you in a match right before it ends

MvM matchmaking being outright broken

The infamous Matchmaking Error: A connection to the Steam VAC Servers could not be made.

I personally think these problems can be fixed by Valve without the need to remove matchmaking alltogether, but i agree that the way Quickplay used to work was better than what we have currently.

CaptainBasculin,

I’d be just fine with an Everspace 2 multiplayer expansion with just 1/10th of this budget.

CaptainBasculin,

Based

CaptainBasculin,

The Duper Trooper constantly does this on different servers that make use of gambling mechanics.

I always wait for release, even if I’m planning it to be a release day buy. Early Access could be an exception if the product they offer is good even in that stage, like how I got Rhythm Doctor when they finished Act 4. (The game has recently came out of Early Access and it’s really good). A demo could incentivise me to preorder, a game I could give example for that is Diesel Knights. While it’s not available for pre-order yet, I would absolutely do so if it did. But nothing released : no preorder

Strictly against it in AAA titles, anything above 60 is a never buy in the first place for me but a putting a preorder for a game in that price range is something that is straight up NOT happening under any circumstance.

CaptainBasculin,

On osu!, finally achieved my player goal of achieving 400pp, then saw a drastic fall on my play time exploring other games. Still doing mapping for two different osu tournaments, but maybe i’m not there forever :)

Balatro became really addictive to me. 200 hours in, still haven’t achieved completionist, but I definetly will. Fuck black deck

Marvel Rivals. Really good game overall, my initial expectations were really low considering Marvel has repeatedly fumbled my expectations on their games, but honestly the game felt like I was playing a game par with Overwatch 1 with Marvel characters.

I’ve got hooked into Trackmania very interestingly this year, my previous racing game experience was stuff like Most Wanted/Carbon, but appearently the osu! style “keep the improve grind” games interest me still. Aside from TM2020, I also got Stadium and Turbo, might get Canyon on a future sale to play.

Rhythm Doctor 1.0 came out, the last two chapters blew me away! I would hate to spoil anything, but let’s just say they have used the tricks they did on Act 5 Boss Stage exceptionally well, again.

Last Command B-Side DLC was very enjoyable. Got it the day it came out, the included content was very fun. Story was meh, but again you don’t really follow the story on a bullet hell game. The new stages were really cool.

I wasn’t expecting to play Megabonk at all, but gave it a shot thanks to my Steam Family Library. Honestly it’s a fine game, gives similar vibes to Balatro as a mob slaying game.

Lastly, got into Tetris: The Grand Master 4. It is unbelievably difficult, but have managed to unlock 3.1 on TGM mode, and on standard mode achieved 800 Master. TGM Master still feels way too tough, but I’m seeing improvements here and there.

CaptainBasculin,

Reading the language off of system locale only AND not giving players option to change in settings on a AAA game that has been out for a year is unacceptable.

Still a cool trick on heroic’s part though

CaptainBasculin,

Bethesda, you have ported this game to fucking PS3, how do you fuck it up this badly?

CaptainBasculin,

idk why but nothing beats trackmania for me in racing games

CaptainBasculin,

I love the game but ffs could you stop closing and relaunching all the time?

CaptainBasculin,

Mostly singleplayer, when I feel like I’ve completed the most that the game would offer. Sometimes save cheesing/rng manipulation if I can’t get a certain thing to go my way, but not a lot.

On multiplayer, I did used to play anarchy minecraft servers (where cheats level the playing ground for everyone), but nothing that breaks that balance. Multiplayer is only fun when everyone has similar tools to you.

CaptainBasculin,

Cross game integration. I was recently playing Last Command B-Side, and in a certain part, the game picked stages themed around the games I have installed and it blew me away.

CaptainBasculin,

What company puts legal pressure on a mod this iconic, it does not make sense, it’s literally free advertising on a completely different game that cannot affect any revenue they make from Thomas negatively.

Sliced off the tip of my thumb, what are some good one handed games?

Long story short, I was trying to make some pork buns and it ended with the tip of my thumb being sliced off, after hospital visit and six stitches and back. But I’m kind of bored out of my mind. Can’t do the steam deck. Can’t do really anything with a controller. I have a large library of games, most of which I haven’t...

CaptainBasculin,

Cobblemon. It’s a pokemon mod for Minecraft Java.

CaptainBasculin,

There are different motivations for different scene groups, but it boils down to dislike the practice of DRM and having their nickname visible on the game’s crack for most.

Though some groups did form for simpler reasons like seeing it as a fun challange to tackle.

CaptainBasculin,

When I was playing it on Linux I would randomly get stutters, did it got fixed? I might try it again if that’s the case

CaptainBasculin,

A perfect example of how game studios should approach mods that improve the game itself.

CaptainBasculin,

Nah, they’re the perfect example to what not to pre order, but keep their games on watch for future.

CaptainBasculin,

App -> Display -> Never ever ask for a donation

CaptainBasculin,

its interface puts anything steam related to the top, so in a sense it is advertising itself.

Let’s say you’re planning to get Silksong. You could buy it off from GOG by switching to desktop mode, running Heroic, searching back the game and buy it. Alternatively you can just search it on Steam and buy there with no previous steps.

CaptainBasculin,

I’ve had my fair share of issues with EA, so honestly fuck them lmao hope their ai vision will doom them to bankruptcy

CaptainBasculin,

It’s a fantasy console, a console that has its specifications to achieve the old-style programs on it but isn’t limited to run on certain hardware.

007 First Light – Gameplay Reveal (www.youtube.com)

This could just be the vestiges of E3’s ghost creating a bad demo, but I was pretty unimpressed by this. If Hitman allowed you to be as freeform as Crysis, this demo looked like Crysis 2, highlighting all the specific options that they crafted for you to use, and there are only maybe three of them rather than allowing you to...

CaptainBasculin,

Finally, a 007 game done right after many years. Can’t wait

CaptainBasculin, (edited )

Before the Steam censorship spectacle, payment processors pushed quite hard against eroge sites until Japanese government stepped in and payment processor backed down as a result. We need a similar move for the western adult games.

CaptainBasculin, (edited )

The existence of this game was leaked a week back, not surprising.

While my money won’t touch anything involving EA related, I’m really afraid of what they might do to the game’s mobile ports (that is if they even port it)

CaptainBasculin,

Steam: I consent

Adult eroge players: I consent

Payment companies: I don’t

CaptainBasculin,

A Dance of Fire and Ice is the best one. You get how the game works within the main menu itself, songs can have their own tutorials for specific patterns later on the song but are fully skippable.

Rhythm Doctor also has really good tutorials, a fully skippable tutorial that tells you anything newly introduced in the upcoming track

CaptainBasculin,

Microids has organised quite a few competitions for its players in the past year on Garfield Kart-Furious Racing, which was weird considering the game didn’t have much player activity. I even joined a few of them for laughs, and i guess that’s why it gave priority to Steam’s reccomendations; the game’s announcement showed instantly on my Steam’s “What’s New” tab.

That’s very clever marketing, I’ll give them that.

CaptainBasculin,

Can’t wait for their sequel to Hi-Fi RUSH

Wait, that game is still playable online?

Many of us only view a game’s release in passing, and view it as an “event”. Groundhog Smasher came out, it failed, and we don’t hear of it again. Additionally, many of us associate “online” games with being “live service” - expecting the developers to announce a new skin, battle pass, game mechanic, or character...

CaptainBasculin,

The bot issue is resolved, cheater players not so much, but it’s way less problematic than CS2 since reports actually can lead to bans.

CaptainBasculin,

I guess it’s goodbye to all the 31+ days ago people on the friends list for US players

CaptainBasculin,

This is the only game I’d pay 60$ on release date.

The source of this claim is very sketchy (a reddit post that gives the vibes of ‘yo guys i heard gaben at a conference say 3 look its his photo’), but I really hope it’s an actual thing.

CaptainBasculin,

Had over a thousand hours in Apex, while I quit way back because of different reasons, their actions definitely are not going to bring me back

Need feedback for my video!

In this video I am doing some changes to my own game. These changes are something like adding sword combat, adding particles and visual buffs, repairing inventory and crafting table. This video also contains discussion about my oncoming challenge video where I do a coding challenge. Please give feedback about your experience a s...

CaptainBasculin, (edited )

The video pace feels way too slow and doesnt make the progress interesting to watch. I would reccomend you to watch this as a good reference for the pace you should aim to achieve at your videos. The AI voice cannot compare to how you can retale what you did about the project. Think of it like you’re presenting your work to your friends.

On the visual part, avoid showing the developer UI and show what you have done from the perspective of a player wanting to try the game. I’ve used the video in question becuase, it mostly has footage from the game itself and a viewer with no experience in development at all can tell what work has been done outright. You’re not doing a development tutorial after all.

If you’re trying to get more onto your thought process behind the development, show your thought process visually, not the development UI itself. For reference, i think this video executes this idea very well.

CaptainBasculin,

Aside from TF Classic and Pre Fortress, Pass Time 4v4 community is also planning for a mod release.

CaptainBasculin,

Being able to download Team Fortress mods similar to Portal and Half Life would be epic.
