Oh, I’ll add on to this one that Rainbow Six 1 and 3 have been some of the best co-op games I’ve ever played, and both have LAN. The second game isn’t readily available for sale anymore. Even that first game involved editing a lot of level config files in order to circumvent bugs, but it was a great time.
I think Diablo 2 even came with an extra disc specifically so you could give it to your friend to play via LAN. Then these fuckers removed the option in Resurrected even though they promised they wouldn’t.
StarCraft and the old Warcraft games work via LAN as well.
I was playing on Sinclair spectrum and BBC b computers in the 80s but this kinda rings a vague bell. I’ll ask my brother and get back to you if he remembers anything
I wouldn’t have found “Dredge” without it, so I’m grateful. I’d had a hankering for a fishing game for years and it was finally sated by that little ditty
There have been a few i was genuinely excited for but I’ve also been collecting them regularly so there’s a lot I’ve never played and probably won’t ever play plus fun ones I enjoyed
I immediately recognized that scene, it’s the mushroom trip! I loved all the trippy scenes in this game. Far Cry 3 OST was the first game soundtrack I put on my phone to listen to outside of the game, too (leaving the PlayStation on to blast Crash Bandicoot 2 Sewer or Later level music on the TV on max volume doesn’t count lol).
Back then the Ubisoft formula was still fresh and games made with it were actually a ton of fun.
I tried to make a Blizzard account recently, just for testing purposes. Literally could not do it. Spent half an hour trying to complete weird math quizzes, at the end of which it would just fail. Gave up.
I had to spend a few months somewhere with no internet connection for a few months. I brought my laptop so I can play games once I really got bored. One month in I try to open the Epic Games launcher it demands that I connect to the internet to give me access to my games. I couldn’t play any of the games on the Epic Games launcher, while Steam just worked offline the entire time.
I don’t even have the Epic Games launcher on my computer now.
“Oh no, we’re not the top choice for games!”
My kids: we have some time, can we play domething?
I (remembering which games have coop): (opening Epic - nope - opening steam - looking for a game - …)
