Hadriscus,

Fairly different games, 2006 was more of a classic linear narrative shooter in the early 2000s tradition but with some brilliant mechanics and novel guns, and a pretty cool storyline (if a bit b-movie-like). 2017 offers a freedom of approach and exploration that’s uncomparable, but it’s also more stern in atmosphere and tone. I don’t have a favourite, but now you made me want to do a replay of 2006

Hadriscus,

From the ewcerpts in the trailer it looks like they’ve only updated the graphics. Too bad because I always thought the controls were shoddy af and ruined the fun

Steam Summer Sale - Top Deals angielski

Initial scrolling of the Steam Summer Sale seems pretty lackluster, but digging through the comments sections in other threads, a few gems have stood out, and it doesn’t appear we have a thread dedicated to this yet, so post what you think are the best deals here!...

Hadriscus,

The ending makes it all up. It’s like a slow, painful crawl back to the surface.

Hadriscus,

after the first few hours I just couldn’t put it down

Hadriscus,

Not sure how it plays on Deck (UI is pretty small scale iirc) but Morrowind is great if you like RPGs with great atmosphere that don’t hold your hand, and if you’re ok with oldish graphics (some famous mods make it much more palatable however). I don’t particularly like Oblivion or Skyrim, they’re much more generic whereas Morrowind is pretty unique in terms of universe. But then again you’d have to look up how well it runs on the Deck and whether or not you can install the unofficial bugfix mod among other obligatory things

Hadriscus,

why does everything have to look like plastic ? I dig the echo mechanic but the art direction totally rebuffs me

Hadriscus,

I don’t know the context. I get that consistency can be important. It would be so easy however to give it a beautiful cell shaded treatment, the toy look would lend itself well to it

Hadriscus,

Bloody hell, you fished out this memory from the abyss of my mind. I remember it. I was 8. All I wanted was to see those two sea mammals waddle once again in their little creek. Instead, I was granted impossible puzzles.

Hadriscus,

I’ve been stuck in Obduction for the past 3 or 4 years, last I remember I was trying to solve a rosetta stone type problem in a pump station

Hadriscus,

Have you played Myst3:Exile ? It has all the qualities of the previous games but is generally much less frustrating. It’s also extremely gorgeous

Hadriscus,

No, I remember being stuck in a deep crater with turquoise water and a pumping station of sorts. I should really play it again !

There we go, I reinstalled it !

Hadriscus,

I didn’t even realize what the link was. Riven is being remade ?! That’s awesome !!!

Hadriscus,

Yes, ok. Fantastic. Will definitely buy it. These games were such a big part of my childhood. The first one though… Never got really far. I wast too young

Hadriscus,

I wrote a melon API to facilitate the melon management and shipping

Hadriscus,

wtf. You can’t fire Alice, she is RPS

Hadriscus,

I disable my adblocker on RPS. They also have a subscriber system which works well I reckon (although I don’t partake)

Hadriscus,

They’re not available in your country ? then yes

Hadriscus,

Can’t you buy the rights to an IP without the attached studio ?

Hadriscus,

I can understand that, yea. But I know I would be! It’s high time something changes in that regard

Hadriscus,

It reminds me of the line of defense some people have over sexual harassers - most recently Gérard Depardieu “oh it’s Gérard, that’s just how he is, leave him be” when he got sexually explicit in front of a 7yo

Hadriscus,

Yea it caught my eye too, pretty cool

Hadriscus,

I’ve only ever played the two Oracle games on gameboy color, they were excellent. Never dinished Ages though, too damn difficult. Something about this format (topdown, block-based…) works really well with my brain

Hadriscus,

Changing seasons and epochs kinda multiplies the experience I think. I will try MM when I get the chance since I align with you on the Oracle games

Hadriscus,

Never finished Ages either ! my 11yo self was too thick to get through some of the puzzles. I should try it again

Hadriscus,

what ? drama ? have you read the article ?

Hadriscus,

Yea I agree there must have been at least some interference because this verification process should not take long and I imagine they use some sort of asset tracking system that tells you who works on what.

Hadriscus,

I could have been fooled ! Know of any one of those that sports an analog stick ?

Hadriscus,

Yes, as far as I know

Hadriscus,

Yea I was hoping I could have the best of both worlds but if the stick isn’t analog it’s all moot. Thanks for your feedback. I’ll probably keep using my macropad for the time being

Hadriscus,

This piece of news lightly hit my left ball, but wasn’t carrying quite enough kinetic energy to transfer momentum to my right ball.

Hadriscus,

There are dialogue options all throughout the game (at least for streetkid)

Hadriscus,

I woulda liked that

Hadriscus,

I played A Short Hike recently, and I was transported. It’s a painterly little adventure in which you walk and glide your way through an archipelago, meeting people and solving small puzzles, mostly around platforming. It’s amazingly soothing. First game my wife actually enjoys too, and she’s not into games at all.

Star Citizen's first-person shooting is getting backpack-reloading, dynamic crosshairs, procedural recoil, and other improvements to 'bring the FPS combat to AAA standard' (www.pcgamer.com) angielski

Well, I mean, I would have launched it first (as an AAA game), but I’m no game developer. 🤷 And neither are they, from the looks of it. Good at perpetually raking in money for himself and his family, though!

Hadriscus,

barely… when’s the last time a ray of sunshine slapped you across the face

Hadriscus,

I have to agree. Games tend to resort to violence immediately now, no need for justification. I didn’t imagine Starfield would be a shooter at all in fact. Ultimately it was almost exclusively shooting

Hadriscus, (edited )

I loved Morrowind when I was 12, replayed it recently and it was just as good as I remembered. I was hyped on Starfield and bought it blind for 40e. I don’t usually make mistakes like these but I got cocky this time. I still can’t fathom how uninteresting Starfield was. I literally dropped it out of boredom. How can you manage to do this with a space game ? seriously ? how do you create something so bland from a premise so exciting ? with the funds and time you have ?

Hadriscus,

Yea I like your explanation. It worked until now

Hadriscus,

I never played the Fallouts so I guess I didn’t see most of the warnings signs

Hadriscus,

Yet it could be made to work. Imagine you make your own RPG party, but it’s a football team. Want that ball ? better cast turn undead on the ref

Hadriscus,

There’s travel and discovery in Skyrim, which imho makes up a bit for its many flaws. Starfield on the other hand was stripped of that, in the sense that you always land directly on points of interest, so there’s never a process of “getting there”, or even “getting around”, which to me was the whole point of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Also the landscape is almost never handmade, but procedurally generated, so it has very little appeal. That sense of discovery I had in Morrowind was still there in Skyrim,… but completely gone in Starfield

Hadriscus,

Spot on

Hadriscus,

Holy shit I just heard it. You mean the Maria Doria in TRII ? grrrrrooouiiinnnggngkkk

Hadriscus,

It was not Starfield

Hadriscus, (edited )

I’m commenting on RDR2 because it’s my last finished game, and I also had trouble getting into it at first three years ago. Particularly the slower pace and the pretty low intensity of events, initially when you’re at Horseshoe Overlook (the first camp the gang stays at). The thing is it builds up slowly, bit like a movie, or a show. And it never stops upping the ante, at some point it throws at you spectacle after spectacle, and at this point you are possibly so invested in the characters (character writing being nothing short of excellent) that you’re all in this cowboy fantasy. Basically it’s a slow first quarter and then you’re in for surprises

Will have to play Stray. It’s very intriguing.

Hadriscus,

Can I have the stars exploding without the FSR3 ?

Hadriscus,

I didn’t think it was fun at all
