That was how my Highschool was growing up too (way after Halo’s hay day interestingly enough). I figured out how to get a copy of Custom Edition to run that had all the CE maps on it.

Passed that out in woodshop one day on a USB drive and everyone got a copy on their School Issued laptops. we had a huge ass LAN party going 5 days a week

That was how our social matchmaking usually goes. We have a bit more luck turning off any precision modes and sticking to CE/Reach/2, but even then we do still get occasionally stomped by people who play to play competitively. Some of the most fun (and fair) games i have is just playing with friends, but of course, not everyone has friends that play Halo. It sucks.

I actually haven’t tried any custom games. I tried to set up fat kid for me and my friends but it didn’t really work out. I’m glad you’re having a blast though despite the people who are being sweaty

Yeah. I have to say, it’s probably one of the most difficult par times I’ve done. Though, Reach, 3, and 4 all support 4 players so I’m sure we have an advantage in that department

Damn. I think I kind of fall into the camp of simulated independence. I wish they had given the player a toggle. I mean, I imagine it’d be a bit of work code wise, but I can’t imagine it’s impossible

The masked rabbit I also had move in on New Horizons. I haven’t used it for any screenshots but I caved and bought the switch version just to try it. She moved in pretty recently lol

I think I kind of get what you mean when you say softer. Maybe not In a full understanding, but I can grasp the idea of it.

I can’t really say I’m a fan of an online economy. I am not a big online game person. Give me multiplayer I can play with my friends and I’m happy. I don’t need anymore. Though, I also suppose it can be implemented in an optional way (though, this is Nintendo we’re talking about. Optional online mechanics I feel are kind of rare for them)

I’m trying to imagine spitting out a hundred of the tickets in my head. A lot of the game’s terminology is lost on me but if I’m thinking of the right thing (The travel ticket thing) I can’t imagine what I’d do with that many.

I’ve been listening to CE’s soundtrack regularly recently. it’s aesthetic and story are just so unique and an amazing thing I’ve never really seen replicated. Not even the sequels manage to nail it’s unique vibe, though they’re amazing in their own ways

Thanks! It’s been going on for like the last month but i think i’m closed to finished thankfully. It’s definitely the most drained I’ve been in a long while, it will be nice to see it through to the end though.

I imagine I sounded a bit harsher than I meant, but I did somewhat enjoy Halo 4. It’s not the scum of the earth I hear people say it is. But it’s definitely no Bungie Saga either

Speaking of the weapons. I absolutely despise using the forerunner weapons. Like. The UNSC Weapons and majority of the covenant weapons control fine, hell, I’d say a few of them control really well. But then the Forerunner weapons feel like they have no impact. It’s some sort of combo of how the Forerunner enemies are and the lack of any sort of haptic feedback.

Maybe it’s just a me thing. It did take me a while to figure out the needler actually needed the shields to be down to explode. So maybe I’m missing something

I like how Reach handled the sprint. You had it, but you could swap it out for a different power up like the older games. It felt like a balanced way to handle it.

I can’t say I share the same fondness for the armor though. It’s more of a personal thing though. Something about the armor feels very clunky to me

That was another complaint I had about 4 and 5. It’s just too busy for me to pick out any enemies. I thought it might just be a me thing with my lack of glass but it’s reassuring to here someone bring it up

It’s crazy to think where we’ve gotten so far. I know there’s a lot of points to be made about how we need upscaling and stuff to reach some of these highs, but damn, they still do look really impressive

It’s a niche gripe because i like achievement hunting, but it kills a lot of motivation for me in a game when there’s separate achievements for a high difficulty. I feel like there’s been only 3 times i actively enjoyed it out of all the game’s i’ve done. That being Halo (it’s like a right of passage for that game’s culture, and Halo 2 is the only one that’s the worst), Uncharted 4, and The Last of Us Part II.

There’s also games that are just overloaded with stuff. I’m not sure how to describe it, but a lot of games i’ve run into just feel like they had a ton of stuff shoved in and it just throws me off. The Sonic adventure games were like this for me

I completely get that. With everything going on today it’s just nice too have something like these too look at. Putting these together for an hour or so everyday provides the same relief for me

The paint flaking off is what annoys me about the N3DS XL the most. They were this close to the perfect 3DS in my opinion, and then they cheaped out on the shell. It’s aggravating.

The rubber is starting to go on mine too though. It’s not too bad but it’s still getting there.

I hear New Leaf touted as the pinacle of the “old” Animal Crossing. Whether that’s true or not though idk. I’ve never been a big AC guy, i usually stick with them for a day and then forget about them
