Today’s game is Alan Wake II. I beat it today. I’m going to try and put how i feel about it into words but the game was as close to perfect (for me personally) that i feel a game could get. Most likely it will come out as a jumbled mess because i haven’t had any time to properly format any sort of essay form to this, but i...
Normally I would but the DLC isn’t really in my budget right now. When it is I totally want to go check out the DLCs because I’ve seen a few people praise the new Lake House DLC and I want to play it now
It sucks because i’d love to get my hands on the Alan Wake remaster and Alan Wake II on steam if they put it on there, if only so i can have easier integration with Steam’s QOL features. Maybe one day Remedy will pull what they did with the OG Alan Wake when they bought the publishing rights from Microsoft and buy the Publishing rights to Alan Wake II from Epic
I continued Alan Wake II today. I’ve been avoiding spoilers for this game so i have no clue if i’m near the end or not, but i’m loving the entire thing and i already don’t want it to end. I’m hoping to get a second part of going back to play as Alan but with where i got too in the story i have a feeling i’m close to...
I would say it is worth playing the first one because it builds off of the ending and a lot of the plot exposition in it. I do think 2 does a decent job of explaining things quickly to newcomers, but if you have the time I’d say playing the first one is a good idea to get the full picture
I always listen to the music. With the way remedy is it plays such a vital part in it that i would be caught dead before skipping them. It may be nostalgia bias for the first one but particularly Poet of The Fall’s Heroes and Villains was my favorite, RAKEL’s Follow You Into The Dark knocked it out of the park too.
Then there was a segment in the game that used the same music from the first episode of Alan Wake I, and that to me felt really clever because of the parallels too it. Overall i feel like remedy knocked it out of the park in all departments, and the music especially was no exception.
Definitely. The way Remedy executes the stage moments doesn’t feel too out of place either. I feel like it would be hard to execute that in a horror game in a way that doesn’t take you out of the moment, yet remedy keeps doing it over and over again
Happy Halloween! I had planned to play one of my favorite games this month, Alan Wake, but @MyNameIsAtticus, the other screenshot poster here, already made several posts about that game recently. So in order to generate new content, I’m posting a tangentially-related game, and another absolute favorite of mine, Control....
I loved control, it had so many unique ideas. i only got halfway through though before having to delete it to make space though sadly. With my playthrough of Alan Wake II i think i want to dedicate myself to going back and finishing it soon though
Thank you! I try to avoid spoilers in mine. I usually use Lemmy’s built in spoiler feature when it’s though inevitable or i really want to share it, but i just recently found out that not every client does spoilers the same way so i think i’ll have to think up some other idea
That was part of the same issue i had as well, i kept having to put it on hold for a tough boss. I hope your able to see it through to the end this time!
That’s what I ended up doing for my Alan Wake II post last night because there was just a lot to talk about with the ending. I figured in clients that don’t support Lemmy’s built in spoiler system though the ::: at the end will tell them where the spoilers end
Today’s game is Alan Wake II. I got the FSR 3 mod running, bringing my frames up to a far more stable 30 fps outside. There’s some noticeable ghosting rarely but besides that it works great....
Loving it. I played a little bit on launch but put it on the shelf due to the performance (hoping updates would help) and I felt a little iffy on it due to how Alan was portrayed and the far more survival horror like gameplay. But since picking it up again it’s grown on me. I think if put against the First One/American Nightmare I don’t think I could pick a favorite. I love both for different reasons
it’s something i’ve considered happening lol. i think there’s been a few times i thought i posted something only to remember that i didn’t actually and had to go do it before the end of the day
up until recently Alan Wake was the only Remedy game i played. I picked up control and loved it and then recently played through Max Payne. I think it’s evolved from Alan Wake being my favorite game too Remedy being my favorite game studio. It makes me excited seeing how all these things connect together.
Rather than actually include their soundtracks on popular platforms, Nintendo graciously offers their own mobile app locked behind the Switch online subscription…
This was something i noticed too. I probably won’t be using the app much because i already have all their music i want in my iTunes cloud library but the selection is odd and the choice too release the music selectively feels strange too me. I feel like they’d get more profit if they had most of their stuff on their from the get go
This will be helpful for discerning if a game can run on the Steam Deck. There’s not many games that don’t have verification (Either by Valve or ProtonDB) but for newer games with anticheat it will serve as a good rule of thumb i imagine
Today’s game is Alan Wake. I had a ton of free time and managed to get pretty far. I’m playing on Steam Deck so my frame rates occasionally dip below 30 (You can tell my low video settings by Alan’s face). I saw someone online though talking about a FSR-3 mod for it though and how it’s super simple. Figured i’d install...
I ended up installing the FSR 3 mod for it, which helped performance a bit. The Steam Deck is my only gaming device though so i sadly can’t use moonlight
Today’s game is Max Payne 1 again. I finished it up today, surprisingly fast considering how far along i was yesterday. Tomorrow i’m going to start Alan Wake II (assuming i have the free time to pick it up by the time i get home)....
It depends on life. Right now I’m going through some of Remedy’s games (mostly to get to Alan Wake II). Most of my picks though come from if they fit into my schedule, so if they let me save wherever or pretty periodically they’ll probably be what I go to next.
Today’s game is Max Payne. I’ve had this for a while and with how much Alan Wake II takes from Max Payne i thought it would be appropriate to at least visit it....
The Bullet Time is so satisfying. And I love Max as a character. I’m a sucker for Everyman characters (part of the reason Alan Wake is one of my favorites too). I would have killed to get to experience this game as a kid. It’s so much fun I’m disappointed that I never played it sooner lol
After I finish Alan Wake II, I’m considering going to Max Payne 2 (though I have a lot of games I keep piling onto the list of what I want to play. So who knows. The Steam Sale coming up certainly won’t help). If it’s anything like this one I know I’m going to have a good time though. Remedy is masters of their trade it feels like
Judging by how MP3 is excluded from the Max Payne collection on Steam (there’s a separate bundle with 1-3), it does seem to be the underrated sibling. I sadly only bought 1 & 2 in a bundle when I bought it years ago. But with how much I’m enjoying Max Payne 1, I’m definitely planning to get 3 at some point down the line
Today’s game is Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. I finished the third loop on nightmare mode today. After this i think i’ll take a break briefly before moving onto Alan Wake II. I think i might try and play through Uncharted: The Lost Legacy or Fallout 4. Or maybe i’ll try finish Control, start Quantum Break, or start the...
Today’s game is No Man’s Sky again. I’m hooked on the Cursed Expedition they have. The creatures on the planet are gorgeous. I’m almost finished with the first tier of the Expedition, after staying up later than i should have to finish it. But its all worth it for the new pet you get with it....
I would say at this point it’s much better. the recent updates have helped to mitigate the issue of planets looking the same a ton. For the gameplay loop, At least for me, is very similar too launch (Go to new planet, do your preferred task to earn money. For me i use my freighter and my crew too collect goods and trade them in different systems and i also Archive animals and flora. And then I move to another system).
But they have also added more to do in that cycle too. For example, I typically break up the gameplay loop by returning to my base i built and tending to the NPCs that live there and also to use the facilities i constructed. I also manage a fleet from my freighter to send them on missions. On top of that there is the Anomaly which now has a ton of community things to do. There’s also different factions to join and get your rank up with.
It’s definitely improved a ton, i would say with it’s nature though it may not be for everyone
I just started their new Cursed expedition today after trying to get around to it. After not playing for a few months it already feels like i have so much new stuff to do. I really appreciate that they didn’t give up on it.
It feels like only a few weeks ago that i started posting screenshots. It’s hard to believe i’ve played through two large games in such a short amount of time. 100 days really feels longer than it actually is sometimes
This is the first i’m hearing about Elite Dangerous and i’m just now discovering another game to feed my inner space nerd. I’ll have to pick it up with the upcoming steam sale
