FeelzGoodMan420,

I thought Nexus runs files through virus today?

FeelzGoodMan420,

Does revive still work? It used to let you play oculus store exclusives on non-oculus headsets. It was a steam plugin.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Ah yea. You’re right. Then revive definitely is deprecated.

Random Screenshots of my Games #45 - Subnautica (lemmy.world) angielski

I think Subnautica was the first crafting game I ever played, and I didn’t really understand the genre, so I found it frustrating and slow. I prefer my games to have an ongoing story, and this… didn’t. Not to say there isn’t a story here, it just takes a backseat to the gameplay, which is exploring and crafting....

FeelzGoodMan420,

Press F6 to get rid of the goggles :-)

FeelzGoodMan420,

Just stick with it. There comes a clear point where your base can self sustain unlimited food, water, and power. Then the game REALLY starts. You’ll see. It’s worh it.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Not all anti cheats run at startup. Some only run when you play a game. I think vanguard for valorant ran all the time at first and people were pissed. Meanwhile easy anti cheat runs only with a game. So it depends. It all sucks though.

Minecraft is losing VR support next year (www.theverge.com) angielski

Minecraft will officially stop supporting all virtual reality headsets after March 2025, according to an update posted to the Bedrock changelog. The update means Minecraft will no longer support devices like the Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, or the Meta Quest (through Quest Link), as reported earlier by UploadVR....

FeelzGoodMan420,

Probably because VR gaming is basically dead. It never really took off and it’s a waste of time and money for them to devote resources to it. Probably like 0.1% of users are in VR.

That being said, part of why it’s dead is because no developers want to take chances on it, so it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Valve was the last one to gamble on it.

A New Law Just Forced Valve To Change Steam. (Steam is still the same but now they have to state that it is a license and not ownership) (www.youtube.com)

TL:DW Steam has now changed its language from buy game to A purchase of a digital product grants a licence to the product on steam. This may also be non compliant with the new regulation as it still uses the word purchase. Also GOG used this opportunity to let you know their games come with an installer that they cannot take...

FeelzGoodMan420,

Nice, this is only the 90000000th time this has been posted! Seriously guys, STOP. This didn’t change literally anything. It’s just a clarification to comply with an upcoming California law.

STOP POSTING THIS IT’S NOT NEWS

Just curious - what size rock do you live under? Is it room sized or as large as a house? How do you decorate? Is it clinate controlled?

Half-Life 2

Adding MGS4 to the list. I’m pretty sure it was mostly linear. I don’t recall it having the backtracking that the others before it did

Currently downloading The Witcher 3 for the first time. Got any advice for me? (lemmy.world) angielski

So I just read this book on history of games called “Blood, Sweat and Pixels” and was fascinated by the chapter on The Witcher 3 and mostly how the team put in so much thought and care in every single side quest. And seems that there are a lot of moral decision to be made on each adventure. So I finally decided to give it a...

FeelzGoodMan420,

Mod the living shit out of it, if you are on PC. The vanilla gameplay is very outdated and boring at this point. There are mods that make crafting and gameplay much more challenging and interesting. The vanilla crafting system is absolute dogshit.

The story is incredible though. Characters are awesome.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Mass Effect is really one of a kind. The first game is the most epic Space Opera that I have ever played/watched. It puts Star Wars and others to shame. They retconned shit in the 2nd and 3rd games so in my opinion the first one remains the best story-wise. But honestly, all three are great.

I am very sad that no other studios tried to do anything even remotely comparable. The closest I can think of is Starfield, which wasn’t very good.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Both are great. What remains of edith finch is a really interesting and emotional one. It’s beautiful the way they tell the story. Definitely a tear-jerker.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Stray was really good.

FeelzGoodMan420,

This might be a weird answer but I find Battlefield 1 very cozy.

Corporate greed is killing RuneScape. What do people play instead? angielski

RuneScape was my favorite game of all time when I was a kid. I’d play it for at least 8 hours a day every day, and never get bored. Now, RuneScape is RuneScape 3, terribly infested gambling microtransaction mess that looks like a really bad early access game, or Oldschool RuneScape, which is really fun, but is infested with...

FeelzGoodMan420,

I’ve never played Runescape so my answer is I play literally any other games.

My comment is unhelpful but I’m posting it anyway.

FeelzGoodMan420,

People gave Starfield shit for all of the loading screens during travel. Now OP is complaining about them finding ways to make it more immersive. The gaming community is ridiculous.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

That is why I used the word “community” in my reply ;-). Community means multiple people. You can look it up on dictionary.com if you need to confirm the definition.

Try reading more carefully next time. Maybe read slower or try to pay more attention.

Thanks.

FeelzGoodMan420,

No, thank YOU for the laugh :-)

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

Huh? On non-gamepad games (i.e. Dark Souls is an example of a gamepad game) Keyboard is completely fine. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This is the first time in my life I’ve ever heard this opinion lol.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

You misread my comment. I’m saying Dark Souls is an example of a gamepad game. I updated the comment for clarity. I see how it wasn’t clear, my bad.

FeelzGoodMan420,

It is optimal though. I don’t understand why you are saying it’s not? Aiming with a mouse is 9 million % more effective than thumbsticks. Like that’s reality. If you had two equal skilled teams, one on controllers, and one on kb/m (and it’s a first person shooter), the kb/m gang will win like 99% of the time just based on that.

You’re just taking your own opinion about kb/m and assuming that it applies to the masses. It doesn’t. Vast majority of people would agree with me. Kb/m is better for non-controller games.

FeelzGoodMan420,

I also disagree with the keyboard comment. I see no issue with it and I don’t know what else would be better when combined with the mouse.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Okay. Well pitch something better then. I’m genuinely interested. I’m not trying to be aggressive.

FeelzGoodMan420,

What do you imagine being better though? Like just in general? Some sort of gamepad that has directionals that you use in your left hand while you use the mouse with your right? Something totally different? Like what else is there?

FeelzGoodMan420,

Might as well throw in a full body haptic feedback suit with a built in fleshlight. In all seriousness idk wtf I’m even arguing about anymore in this thread. Keyboard is totally fine.

FeelzGoodMan420,

This makes no sense. Why would a company want their product to be sold out? The goal is to balance supply and demand. So they SHOULDN’T sell out. It’s not a limited edition product or anything. This post is sensationalized as fuck.

FeelzGoodMan420,

I think that the perfect storm of high demand and low supply ha. I’m sure Sony didn’t want that outcome.

FeelzGoodMan420,

What is the last Ubisoft game that actually did well?

FeelzGoodMan420,

The last Ubisoft game I bought was Far Cry 3 in 2012. None of their games since then have even remotely interested me.

FeelzGoodMan420,

I actually really enjoyed Far Cry 3. But Far Cry 1 just holds a special place in my heart. It’s just such a good game and still holds up today.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

Because it’s not backwards compatible like that.

FeelzGoodMan420,

If you can force Vulkan, you cna use DXVK to get it to support DX12 features. Might be a pain in the ass to get it to work though. Not even sure if GTA4 will run on Vulks .

FeelzGoodMan420,

But it IS backwards compatible in the way you are describing. You can play a dx9 game on windows 11. So it is backwards compatible. What you cannot do (usually) is force a game built with dx9 features to use dx11/12 features. If the game wasn’t built with new API features (because it released before those features even existed) then you cannot expect it to be able to just “be dx12” all of a sudden.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

There’s no way in hell I’d play this game again. It was fun enough to get through, but nowhere near good enough to ever play again.

FeelzGoodMan420,

I got a good amount of playtime out of it, but only because I used mods and had fun installing texture packs and stuff. Also the Luma HDR mod was some of the best HDR I have ever seen. It made the game absolutely beautiful on an OLED monitor. I spent a lot of time just flying around to different planets and cities and just looking at the HDR presentation, taking screenshots.

That being said, yea, the game sucks. At the best it’s very mediocre. I definitely don’t think it’s worth $70.

It’s not surprising that you’re going to find Bethesda bootlickers on a starfield subreddit though. Not sure what you expected? Every game subreddit is like that.

FeelzGoodMan420,

That’s not really a good comparison. After 5-10 years you’re going to need a PC upgrade as well if you want to keep up with current game tech and run games at high settings. That can easily cost $700. Remember, consoles are usually mid-range computers.

FeelzGoodMan420,

True, but that’s just more of an added benefit of PC. I have to assume the vast majority of people who build PCs for games have the desire to play new games that come out. There may be a few people who build PCs with only the desire to play old games. But i don’t think that is the majority.

Plus if someone doesn’t want new games then they wouldn’t need or care to upgrade their console from one gen to a next. So i don’t think that’s relevant in this discussion.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

I’ll try to respond below. Lemme know what you think:

Consoles:

Need to upgrade every 5-7 years if you want to play new games on next gen consoles. Can play your old games indefinitely.

PC:

Need to upgrade every 5-7 years if you want to play new games that are more demanding and require next gen parts. Can play your old games indefinitely.

In terms of playing new games on an old PC, try playing cyberpunk on a PC from 2013 (7 years prior to CP77 release in 2020). You’ll get like 2 fps. Not even playable.

So to conclude, sure, you can try to play new games on your old ass PC, but it’ll run like crap and won’t be a good experience.

Edit: just to clarify, my opinion is from the perspective of someone who wants to play new demanding games. If you play super easy to run new indie games, then yea I agree with your point. Added benefit of PC is the ability do that indefinitely.

FeelzGoodMan420,

FeelzGoodMan420,

FeelzGoodMan420,

Yea fair enough. That’s a completely valid point.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

Eh I’m not sure I really do agree on the cost. Because like you need to add another $400 onto the ps5 cost for 5 years worth of online fees to pay miltiplayer (assuming they don’t raise prices in 5 years, which they most definitely will) so now you’re up about $1K USD or more. I just used 5 years of fees since i figured new consoles come out every 5ish years. Could even be longer. No one seems to factor this in when describing console prices. Rember, there are NO online fees with PC (unless it’s a MMO with a subsciption fee or something but 99% games do not charge for online play.)

Also again, remember that a ps5 is a low-mid range PC. I think you can build a low-mid range PC for $1k or a bit higher, (crazy how expensive it is these days. $1k used to be a high end PC lol.)

Lastly, you’ll need to buy another controller for ps5 probably. So that’s another $50 or $60 or whatever the hell they cost these days. Maybe even a headset/microphone - not sure if those come with the ps5.

A comparable PC is probably still more expensive, but not really by that much…

Do you see what I’m saying now?

FeelzGoodMan420,

Sure. It’s probably like 20% cheaper with much less functionality, like none to little customization/modding, and gives an inferior HDR presentation. But it’s cheaper yes. so your point is proven, but it’s badly wounded.
