biscoot, do gaming w Monster Hunter Rise update adds Enigma DRM, breaks Steam Deck compatibility

I hope they revert the change. But in the meantime, I’m adding to the pile of negative reviews on Steam.

CaptDust, do games w Rock Band 4 DLC support ends next week, after eight years

End of an era

avater, do games w Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - the big developer tech interview
@avater@lemmy.world avatar

It would be really awesome if Massive would have developed Skull and Bones, because I think with their expertise in mmo gameplay and engine development they would have given us something really great, instead of the frankenstein monster we have now.

But related to the topic, Avatar is easily the best looking open world game of this year and I look forward to their Star Wars Game game and the next installment in the Division!

dangblingus, do gaming w E3 is officially dead

Yeah. Ive seen this same article posted every year since Sony premiered Ghost of Tsushima across the road from the LACC. Before that, they said it was dead when they banned booth babes. It also hasnt existed for the last 3 years.

We are very well aware it’s dead.

chloyster,

Well yeah but the esa was still trying to keep it running. This is the final announcement that they aren’t even trying anymore. It’s done done this time

Enzy, do gaming w Bethesda responding to negative Starfield reviews on Steam

This game sure removed any hopes I had for TES6

Faydaikin, (edited )
@Faydaikin@beehaw.org avatar

Not trying to get up your hopes. That would just be cruel of me.

But TES is still their flagship IP. It’s likely to get a more “cautious” treatment than both Starfield and Fallout.

Starfield was Bethesdas version of “ambitious”. And Fallout is just a testing grounds for whatever is trending.

Enzy,

Using the same engine no doubt

I don’t want a more graphically fancy Skyrim copy paste… Again.

Faydaikin,
@Faydaikin@beehaw.org avatar

Yes, they’ve been quite clear about not wanting to use anything else.

Illecors, do games w PlayStation Portal review: impressive hardware but is Remote Play itself good enough?
HawlSera, (edited ) do gaming w Are there too many video game remakes and remasters?

My only problem with the remakes and remasters is that they keep censoring shit that wasn’t even controversial or offensive in the first place.

Heck, with patches these days, you don’t even have to wait for the remaster for censorship CoughSkullGirlsSuperHotVRcough

terminhell, do gaming w Are there too many video game remakes and remasters?

I just wish the games that are remade/remastered are basically just graphic updates, with some bug fixes and minor qol additions. That’s it. Not like what they did to ff7.

Hell, diablo 2 Remaster was good. The addition of being able to swap between new and old graphics on the fly is amazing tbh.

leaky_shower_thought, do gaming w Are there too many video game remakes and remasters?

I feel publishers are doing small stabs at originals while doing full milk-yo-wallet efforts with remakes/remasters. Pretty conservative approach, imo.

Sivick314, do gaming w Are there too many video game remakes and remasters?
@Sivick314@universeodon.com avatar

@chloyster we can't get a remake of KOTOR but somehow we are getting this piece of crap on THE EXACT SAME SYSTEM it was released on.

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@kbin.social avatar

The last one was PS4 though. I agree it's unnecessary, but it's not the exact same system.

MonsiuerPatEBrown, do gaming w Valve says "technology doesn't exist" yet for full Steam Deck 2.0

They are hoping for robot gamer companion Steamy^TM^ to develop enough AI empathy where it doesn’t kill you in a rage-quit.

bigmclargehuge, do games w Unity's controversial Runtime Fee policy was "rushed out", says report
@bigmclargehuge@lemmy.world avatar

Not sure I fully belive this. Multiple devs have said they were consulted about the proposed policy, gave negative feedback, and were ignored. Unity knew what they were doing and claiming it was rushed sounds like a weak attempt to dodge accountability.

Geek_King, do games w Brilliant visuals and growing pains: examining the first generation of Unreal Engine 5 games

I just bought the remaster of Ark (Yeah I’m a consumer whore, I know). It looks fantastic, incredible visuals but I’m not sure if the frame rate matches with how good it looks.

I’m never ditching 27" 1440p for a bigger resolution like 4K or ultrawide.

PlantJam,

27" just feels like the right size for a monitor to me. Anything bigger and I’d have to get it further away from my chair somehow.

amenotef, (edited )
@amenotef@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah and on the living room with a big screen (I got a PS5 recently) I think the PS5 is doing lot of 1440p FSR upscaling.

And it still looks nice on a 4K TV.

moody,

Some of the updates have already improved performance a decent amount. It’s still not great, but it’s better than 2 days ago.
