Mass Effect the IP isn’t the issue, the issue is EA sucks. So you’re basically asking why do they even persist as a company anymore.

Also I think Andromeda was okay, just terribly buggy at launch. The gameplay was actually pretty fun imo. On the other hand, Veilguard was technically sound but the game itself was not great. So if they can somehow learn lessons from both, there is hope.

the strategy is to buy everything you can ASAP but focus on monopolizing and developing the orange and red properties. they are statistically much higher to land on than other properties because people get sent to jail so often. When exiting jail rolling 6, 8, or 9 is very likely to hit orange first and then maybe red on the next roll.

tldr; punish the poor fuckers getting out of jail. yay capitalism!

micromacro crime city is fun. It’s kinda like a giant Where’s Waldo map except you solve mysteries as a team.

valve is a publisher too, and they have the exact same policy for their games.

yeah I think I played about 10 hours. the initial stage around hogwarts proper was interesting and fun, but once the quests went out into the open world it got a lot more tedious.

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

I wouldn’t say it’s bad, but it’s not great either.

acosmichippo,

the major difference with GOW is that you can pause combat at will to strategize and time abilities/combos with your squad.

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

eh it’ll be back. they are doing another mass effect after Andromeda.

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

yet they still keep making them.

…and then hand the IP to another studio.

It is an energy vampire RPG and you take on the role of Colin Robinson.

After the catastrophe of Concord Sony is reportedly cancelling other projects including a God of War live service game (www.pcgamer.com)

In the graveyard of live service games Concord may just be the biggest headstone, and that seems to have focused some minds over at PlayStation. Previously the noises coming from Sony were all about the importance of live service games to its future strategy, and it had announced plans to launch more than 10 live service games...

KOTOR. just existing in a Star Wars world and becoming a Jedi. really have no idea why we can’t have another Jedi RPG, do you not like money Disney?

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

idunno, to me the heavy reliance on platforming and metroidvania-style traversal far outweighs any superficial RPG elements in those games. I just get annoyed rather than immersed in the game.

can you link to your privacy policy and/or data collection practices?

Would "suggest price" be a positive option for steam?

I just looked at a game that is 60€ and said “I dont think its worth that and would buy now for 30, just to check it out”. Then I had the idea that some publishers/devs might benefit from knowing that 1-100000 people think that the game is worth X and would buy now for that price right now. In a case like today, the...

I think that makes sense for items of finite/low quantity like eBay. Then you have to make sure your offer is at least reasonable so it beats other offers. But with an unlimited resource like software you don’t have to worry about that.

the number of times i add a game to my isthereanydeal list and have no idea wtf it is when i get a sale notification.

except we know Chinese people have been review bombing other games because BMW didn’t win. Sure doesn’t seem like a joke to them.

Does the NVIDIA App cripple your PC gaming performance? (Answer: no it does not) (www.dsogaming.com)

As we can see, there is a small performance hit with NVIDIA App. However, it’s nowhere close to what has been reported. On our PC system, it’s around 4-6%. And that’s mostly in CPU-bound areas. For instance, in Indiana Jones which is a GPU-bound game with Path Tracing, there isn’t any performance hit at all....

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

and what is the benefit? why should I take a 5% CPU hit for an NVIDIA app?

Why does it even need to be using CPU cycles while in a game anyway?

Ridiculous that this is even a discussion.

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, the Chinese players aren’t totally wrong, support from sales IS an important metric. Swen definitely should have worded that better. But is that worth a negative review, IDK. This seems to line up with Chinese culture as a whole though, which is usually polar opposite to the West.

rampant capitalism over workers’ desires lines up with Chinese culture?

acosmichippo,

are all the bugs ever gone from any game?

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

but also when you rework game mechanics, add content like expansions, etc there will be even more new bugs. it’s a moving target.

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t know about you but I look around and I don’t know anyone who would accept those conditions.

except publishers frequently do accept those conditions.

I think my tastes have remained mostly the same, it’s the industry that is losing me as a customer for two reasons:

  1. more and more games now are based on shit that I hate - multiplayer, GaaS, micro transactions, copy and paste gameplay mechanics with new coats of paint, etc.
  2. studios that used to make my favorite games have really gone downhill over the last decade, like Bethesda, Bioware, and maybe CDPR (hopefully the cp2077 release was just a fluke but we’ll see).

I hate when a PC game is ONLY available on Epic Games store (lemmy.world)

Nothing more disappointing to me than seeing a game I might enjoy… and then it’s only available on PC on Epic Games store. Why can’t it be available on Epic, Xbox game store and Steam? It’s so annoying, like you have no choice but to use Epic… which I would literally do ANYTHING not to use.

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

if it was discounted then they didn’t get as much money.

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

and… instead of getting $60 immediately, they are getting $30 or whatever later. clearly one is better than the other, no?

In a bit of a pre upgrade slump, what do you recommend?

The 9800X3D just came out, so I’m looking to upgrade my 2017 PC to join the modern era, which means I’m waiting to play Baldurs Gate 3 (runs, but not ideal), Dead Space Remake (poorly optimised), Space Marine 2, Cyberpunk, Metaphor etc when I build my new rig in a couple of months....

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

if i was planning to upgrade my rig soon i’d save these games for the new hardware.

it’s not about anger, the point of downvoting is to put low effort or other random crap comments below any others that may actually contribute to the topic.

acosmichippo,
@acosmichippo@lemmy.world avatar

if that was the intended layout of lemmy comments they wouldn’t have vote buttons at all.

This is reddit behavior is what it is.

Lemmy is meant to be a direct alternative to reddit

There are whole instances without downvote buttons for example.

well this is not one of those instances.

steam says I played Fallout 4 for 436 hours, but that seems very high. not sure if that count is accurate.

acosmichippo,

are these games even multiplayer? is it anti cheat or anti piracy?

acosmichippo,

are there any 2k games left worth playing?
