I’ll just keep my excitement at bay until Micrisoft proves they didn’t fuck it up by something like requiring a constant online connection for the single player campaign like Black Ops 6.
What if there was an open source Steam clone, where everything is federated, and you could add repos like on KDE Discover, GNOME Software or F-DROID’s Android client?
Imagine plugging Flathub into this as a starting point. Also, if everything is federated, developers could sell directly. That’s one way to get them onboard.
As most of you know, HL3 is pretty much the most popular “vaporware” game out there. Something always rumored and in development, but never heard again after a certain point....
If Valve can’t do something that will push their business and the whole industry forward, they’ll just do some other thing that will.
Doing sequels after sequels will only stagnate the franchise, making Valve lose time. For that, they rely on publishers like Activision, EA, and Ubisoft among others.
I know it’s too little too late for most. But last season made the game fair. Even before it was less pay to win than Siege for example. Now it’s only cosmetics like CS2. For new players it’s a solid hero shooter, it’s really fun and the community is not toxic, though I admit it’s crap at competitive. For that, your time would be better spent at CS2.
Let’s say the PC doesn’t count and you aren’t taking into account backwards compatibility, emulation, online play, homebrew games, and the cost/availability of games....
We also launched on Steam last week, and, although being review-bombed isn’t a fun experience, it’s been great to see lots of new players jump into Overwatch 2 for the first time. Our goal with Overwatch 2 has been to make the game more accessible than ever for more people than ever before....
I’ve had this question looking at the Quake con sale, and Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth is for sale on both platforms. I ended up buying it on GOG. What is your opinion?
I’ve learned my lesson to never buy again from any other than Steam.
Every other launcher except GOG Galaxy are pure trash. And about a year ago I switched to Linux, so now I only buy from Steam. They make gaming better for everyone, they know it’s a win-win situation.
