Rentlar,

Starcraft 2 has the best control scheme out of all the RTS games that I have played. I wish Age of Empires 2 could put the map on the left, then I would be way better at using it.

Fog of war

Just play Terran and scan, hurr durrrrrrr. Interestingly, AoE2 has a game option of letting everyone see each other by default.

Rentlar,

Has native Linux support, but if you are playing with friends or other online multiplayer I would recommend the proton version as sometimes updates lag behind.

Rentlar,

It already has done much more than you give credit for. People are talking about it. More importantly, legislators are talking about it, which is the first step for things for laws to change/clarify what it means to own a digital product in the UK.

Rentlar,

Yeah this makes no sense as an issue.

Cyclists travel at speeds they can easily slow down or stop if some blind person walks into the lane, sighted people do it all the time anyway. The typical long sight lines give plenty of time for a cyclist to spot someone sporting a red and white cane.

“We don’t have any evidence at this time that there is an injury collision problem."

Is precisely my thoughts.

Rentlar,

Buy successful indie game and studio, run the IP into the ground or just lay the workers off and keep the IP. Much cheaper to keep good games out and make room for your shitty AAA title than actually compete with them in the market.

The Activision™ way?

Rentlar,

Dry like the Mojave but windy like Chicago.

Rentlar,

Demo’d this at PAX West Seattle and said hi to Billy there. It was quite a charming experience.

Rentlar,

Seems interesting, though this trailer was probably made in Powerpoint.

Sonic Forces™ fans to play another mobile game with plenty of microtransactions.

Rentlar,

What I wouldn’t do for an AoE or Halo Wars series game on a StarCraft engine and control scheme…

Rentlar,

They did also reportedly say they were making offline mode.

They were also in the midst of making the cure for microtransaction cancer.

And they were putting final touches on the solution to homelessness the week before they were closed.

Rentlar,

You might be able to try a “demo” of v rising 1.0.0.79266-b23 before you buy…

Rentlar,

They got so cheesed after Nvidia shipped the device with the RCM exploit.

Rentlar,

We did it Lemmy~

Updated my review: (PERSONAL ORDER COMPLETE)

Rentlar,

I’m curious, what’s the problem? There was an upsetting change, review was negative. That change was walked back and not happening. What would the reason be to keep it negative?

Rentlar, (edited )

It doesn’t seem like a big change to me, so long as you can just have it linked to your Steam account and nothing else.

I’d mostly be upset if it breaks Linux compatibility or was a single player game (HD2 isn’t).

E: Changed only to mostly

Rentlar,

This is the point of contention I am curious about. If Sony can be the one to kick you off the game that you bought on Steam and you don’t get refunded for it, I will review it negatively. Let me know what happens after the update forcing PSN.

Rentlar,

I think those people that will no longer be able to play it, because Sony doesn’t let them do the thing that they now require, deserve refunds. I will leave a negative review when the update drops if they don’t, despite really enjoying this game, because it’s not fair to those who bought it and will be locked out. If they can make it such that you can have a placeholder Sony account that can’t access all PSN features, for the sole purpose to play this and other Sony games on Steam, that anyone in the world can access, that would be an acceptable compromise to me.

I understand EULA and account creation fatigue. It’s just that it’s not the accounts themselves that are the worrisome part of the change for me is what I’m saying. If it’s for specific reasoning (console crossplay), is unobtrusive, and maintains access for existing Steam purchasers then I don’t have a real problem. If they use it to limit people’s access that’s where I have a problem.

Rentlar,

In the compromise model, Sony gets the interaction data they want and pad their account numbers for investors. Players get sustained access to the game. Win-win.

Rentlar,

I presume you will have heard, Sony/Playstation has announced it will reverse on the PSN linking mandate.

Rentlar,

Cheaper price tag AND doesn’t beg you for more money constantly. Helldivers 2 has premium content but they don’t shove it in your face unless you bring up the specific menu for it.

Rentlar,

Don’t forget that it’s $70 for the Disappointment Standard Edition and $120 for the Disappointment Deluxe Edition.

Rentlar,

Back in the day I was drifting in Mario Kart DS on the Dpad until my thumbs hurt before the Wii version (with Nunchuk) and later.

The switch was fine, of course in handheld mode its inferior to the larger/heavier, newer and more ergonomically designed Steam Deck. These days at my friends house I bring a Pro controller around which works and feels just fine.

Oh and yeah the best Switch gaming experience is via emulation of the games you own and using nicer controllers.

Rentlar,

I enjoyed Terran 3, my favourite of the TerrN themes.

As for suggestions for next, I think you should do what you desire, but if I were to pick it might be Civilization 6 themes.

Rentlar,

I don’t get why companies everywhere think that making a promise, then quietly editing it out before breaking the promise is going to work at all for them?

Rentlar,

The Beach DLC was distasteful, you still can’t even make convincing beaches with the terrain.

I’m very glad Paradox reversed course here. It sounds like they are starting to take seriously what it means to make a finished, solid game. Cities:Skylines fans are tired of half-baked shit.

Rentlar,

He’s right, but I don’t like the framing of TV companies are going to spy on you anyway so we’re the best option since you get a free TV. I would like the option to not be spied on. In fact I’m choosing that by not having a TV to begin with.

Rentlar,

Yep. Biden and administration has been improving stuff for both freight rail and passenger rail, possibly after letting them getting away with being too lax on safety. If he gets another term I really hope they can bring back Conrail which would bring back NS in good hands.

Rentlar,

It’s not a perfect replacement and single player only if that matters, but have you tried Transport Fever 2? It’s got a TTD feel with beautiful modern graphics.

Rentlar,

Sorry I meant a TTD feel in terms of basic mechanics, but with beautiful modern graphics.

Rentlar,

Stupid stunt notwithstanding, the Counter Strike game is about terrorists vs. counter-terrorists so it’s at least thematically on point?

Rentlar,

My worry and the main reason I’ve not jumped for one, is that with the requirement of a Meta account and stuff, Meta could decide to just have all their headsets of a certain generation stop working after some date even if you only use desktop streaming.

Are there any known workarounds/safeguards against Meta remote control of the device?

Rentlar,

Thanks for the research. It seems like their discontinuation of Oculus accounts made some of the steps harder or less effective, and I’d worry about messing something up.

Rentlar,

Does it come with the random fly that hits the windshield?

Rentlar,

Did you see the news The Crew is Shutting Down their servers in April? If you bought this game, and live somewhere where your consumer protection agencies might have teeth you could help this guy put up a defense against companies bricking games you paid for.

How much does it cost to build a shortline railroad? angielski

Just for fun, a thought experiment, how much theoretically does it cost to build a commuter rail service? I’ve lived in a city that has thousands of cars commute to a close by city every day, about 30 miles away. It kills me that there is not an obvious commuter line between them....

Rentlar,

You know, if I had millions lying around I’d want to build or buy a small <10km line in rural buttfuck Saskatchewan and ride train cars around, just for myself and letting people that made it here use it for fun. I haven’t tried estimating how much that would cost.

Have a look at the West Coast Express, opened in 1995 from Vancouver BC to 43 miles out at an estimated cost of 40 to 80 million Canadian dollars, equivalent to 53.4 to 106.8 million of today’s USD. There were musings of it as far back as 1971, but it sounds like design started sometime after 1981 and construction started in 1994, finishing late 1995.

The price tag would include 5 engines and 5 sets of bilevel railcars, leasing tracks for CP and BNSF, building a handful of turnouts and sidings to hold the trains when out of service, build or contracting wash and maintenance facilities, maybe some small track and signalling upgrades along the route, and station facilities in 7 places.

Another example is the Rail Runner Express in New Mexico that runs 96.5 miles from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. The NM Governor Richardson announced it in August 2003. Construction began in October 2005. The first portion of service began in July 2006 and the full line went into service by December 2008. The cost to build the line was about 285 million USD total equivalent to about 438 million USD today. A operational deficit of 10 to 20 million USD annually was reported and criticized, but roads and bridges of that length cost as much to maintain anyway.

Rentlar,

Now you’ve got me imagining a budget version of an invisibility potion/spell/item that gives 30% translucency.

Rentlar,

🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲… OK that looks good enough.

Rentlar,

I was under the impression that they had fully shelved PvE for OW2. They basically lied and released the same game with a few tweaks to the match format. Was there actually any hope for even a pared-down co-op mode?

Rentlar,

They mention that at least some of this money is to complete the application for big boi federal grants.

Rentlar,

He’s a dad with a kid in that growing up phase. I think it makes it very accessible for people to learn the history of decades of design decisions.

Ancora Accelerates NS [Norfolk Southern] Takeover Attempt - Railway Age (www.railwayage.com) angielski

From the document: “The bottom line is that it is time to actually move Norfolk Southern forward. Moving ahead starts with identifying the right destination. Our slate and proposed management team believe they have the experience and strategy required to turn Norfolk Southern into a safer, more sustainable railroad that is...

Rentlar,

Safety is not a complicated issue, but this takeover is…

BLET (in February) initially opposed the takeover

BLET recently (At the end of April) changed positions and are now supporting Ancora’s takeover.

So I don’t really know who to side with on this issue tbh.

NS says they are going to do less PSR, but PSR is merely a buzzword and promises from current mamagement ring just as hollow as those from Ancora.
