Mereo,

It is nice to be a patient gamer. I recently bought Cyberpunk and I’m enjoying it. I will get Dragon Dogma’s 2 when it comes out of beta.

Mereo,

It’s a slippery slope. Money talks. They are accountable to their shareholders. So when they saw that people were paying for them, they started to monetise more and more.

Mereo,

It reminds me of when Flash was an exciting technology and websites were made in Flash. Very painful.

Mereo,

Read? Lemmy is Reddit 2.0. Unfortunately, the majority don’t read articles.

Mereo,

When I hear remaster, I now hear Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

Mereo,

The whole thing seems rushed because the CEO of Unity, John Riccitiello, was the leading advocate of microtransactions when he was at EA, and now he is instilling the same culture at Unity.

How will they differentiate between pirated copies and legitimate copies? How will they distinguish first-time installs from repeat installs? Can we trust their algorithm? It just doesn’t seem possible.

Mereo,

Being a patient gamer is best. We need to give it at least 6 months for Bathesda to optimize the game and fix the major bugs.

Mereo,

I hope that since Bathesda is now a Microsoft studio, Microsoft is going to be persistent with bug fixes. But maybe it’s a tall order.

Mereo,

I also enjoyed Andromeda but I just can’t get myself to replay it. I replayed the Trilogy multiple times but I just couldn’t replay Andromeda, it felt like a chore.

Mereo,

Interesting. I might try that

Mereo,

An update patch that introduced the most amazing feature: monetization!

Mereo,

The game is currently being review bombed. Valve will soon do a big cleaning: rockpapershotgun.com/valve-to-remove-off-topic-re…

Mereo,

They released it on Steam on August 10th because player engagement was on the decline: gamerant.com/overwatch-2-player-count-down/

Mereo,

I’m in my late 30s and I remember when Blizzard was highly respected in the industry. sigh, how the mighty have fallen.

Mereo,

Welcome to the Patient Gamers world. Now that I’m in my late 30s with responsibilities, I’ll take a short linear game (e.g. Mafia Definitive Edition) with a compelling story over long, repetitive games (e.g. Assassin’s Creed). Quality over quantity for me. Since I don’t have a lot of time, I want to spend some quality time with the game.

Mereo,

I have to say, it’s also a subculture of it. When I used to participate in r/patientgamers, a lot of people (myself included) realised that we didn’t care about the latest releases because of our responsibilities (and maturity), and many of us preferred short to long.

But it’s not homogeneous.
