Don’t know if this counts as an ending proper rather than a funny and very rare unintended effect. I doubt the devs planned for it or even realized it could happen.

Agent_Karyo, do games w Protests erupt at Rockstar Games offices accusing GTA 6 developers of “Union Busting”

Fuck Rockstar and fuck Take Two (even though other than CDPR, Firaxis is the only "AAA" studio that I buy games from).

SereneSadie,

Why???

Buggy releases that are horrifically overpriced, go in completely wonky directions, and in general are so generic and repetitive and yet continue to push all other potential competition from the market.

Firaxis is awful.

Agent_Karyo,

Those are high level examples.

Last Firaxis game I bought was Civ6 and while I played it for 50 hours or so, I mostly play Civ5 and Civ4 (and a whole variety of mods/conversations).

pycorax,

go in completely wonky directions, and in general are so generic and repetitive

Do you have an example because these 2 points seem like they are at odds with each other.

taiyang, do games w Protests erupt at Rockstar Games offices accusing GTA 6 developers of “Union Busting”

I can’t speak to Rockstar directly but I do know some game companies send anti-union propaganda emails regularly. To take the next step and fire people is entirely believable given when I’ve seen HR push out.

NuXCOM_90Percent,

More or less all companies (that are legally allowed to (and some that aren’t)) send anti-union propaganda. Whether it is outright villification or just “We are your friends. Talk to us. If you form a union it is you saying we failed”. That is kind of just the nature of the game.

What matters is what happens when the workforce decides to unionize anyway. You can either respect it or do everything you can to slaughter your workforce.

taiyang,

Haha, your quote is almost the exact line I’ve read. HR email was literally saying how they should talk to them first and about them failing. Lol

I said explain. It’s this old school thing we used to do where we JUST TELL A PERSON SOMETHING

Randomgal,

I get what you are saying, and actually agree with out. But you don’t have to be an asshole about it. No one has the obligation to attend your tantrums.

Children make games on Roblox (real games, the thing people do working in the industry), Roblox makes money off those games and pays close to nothing to the children. Therefore, exploits children.

mke, (edited )

Sometimes, there are already resources explaining more clearly and thoroughly than we could. And although I’m unsure if this case qualifies, there are definitely topics that can’t be reduced to a few sentences. Thus, a reputable link is often worth more to both sides: it saves the explainer time and effort while informing the target far better.

If you don’t want to engage with the content, I believe there are better ways to go about it than being rude to people who were likely trying to help.

OsrsNeedsF2P,

Kids make maps. Stuff in the maps is sold for Roblox bucks. Roblox bucks cost money to buy. The kid who makes the map gets the Roblox bucks, and can sell them. The problem is you only get 30% back when you sell a Roblox buck.

So kids spend time making big maps and servers, buying ads, getting shoutouts on YouTube/whatever, and Roblox takes a 70% cut from all of it

Banichan,
@Banichan@dormi.zone avatar

Sounds like a normal business that gives kids a chance to make money.

TrickDacy,
@TrickDacy@lemmy.world avatar

Doesn’t matter what you call it. It’s profitable and you know that’s what’s meant.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Is labor. There is a whole market of Roblox related things, there are job sites, freelance sites that employ kids to work on design/programming/marketing of these game modes. To pay them the game currency that maybe later can be traded for real money.

Is not just kids tinkering with the game.

themurphy,

Fair enough, but couldn’t the same be said about YouTube? They also take the biggest cut of the ad money for creators.

Quill7513,

Yes. Using kids to drive engagement on YouTube is exploitative. Parents who do that are exploiting their children

notfromhere,

But what about…? Doesn’t excuse the first thing!

themurphy,

Why did anyone read my comment as an excuse? I was pointing two fingers instead of one on Roblox.

Probably the “but”. I agree that both are exploitive and they should all be called out on it.

themurphy,

My bad. English is not my first language.

  • TowardsTheFuture,

Yeah, overall it’s fine. It’s definitely enjoyable enough but there’s definitely a lot of work to be done and it worries me when they say they’ll not release the last 3 subclasses until full release when patches are not very stable and entire subclasses with zero testing is… not gonna end up good.

    Floey,

I only really agree with the endgame being lackluster and that’s something that will certainly improve with time as they add more mechanics that get incorporated into Monoliths. The core gear and skill systems are good, which is something that can make or break an ARPG, so saying the developers are unskilled seems a little harsh.

Until it is more fleshed out though I would definitely recommend Grim Dawn over it, which is a game with a lot of content and polish, as well as modding if it’s not enough. I would recommend PoE, but it’s complex enough that it might be better to wait the 1+ year until PoE2 and try that, maybe also learning PoE if it maintains a large playerbase and good support, they claimed they will continue to release just as many expansions for it.

I played LE for only about a day based on this post, but yeah, I think I’m with you.

A lot of little things are annoying:

    • Every time you leave an area it resets, even if you use a portal?!?
    • No fast switch between bow and melee weapon
    • You cannot compare a ring in inventory against the ring on your right finger (only left)
    • No feedback that you just clicked on a TP or new area, like nothing happens for a few seconds and then you are transported

Waker, do games w Diablo 4 GM confirms “annual expansions” for the game

Honestly, having know this I wouldn’t have bought D4 in the first place.

It was expensive as fuck for a game that I played a week at most, and got boring. Not saying the game isn’t great on some aspects. The story and graphics are amazing but… other than that it’s not that interesting late game.

Spending 60€+ on a game that has battle passes and an ingame shop on top of it, for them to add one expansion a year after, yearly? Wtf

It’s true what they say. Blizzard has gotten greed af.

This has probably been the last game I will ever buy from them. There are already Diablo 4 private servers, I think I’ll just wait until those catch up with those expansions…

(reposting from the D4 community since this community is larger and likely will have more discussion here)

    pulaskiwasright,

To me, the late game is boring because it’s not as tactical as previous Diablo games. The view is so zoomed in and the enemies are so fast, numerous, and squishy that you basically just have to chew though the closest enemies. It’s not tactical or challenging. It’s either too easy or too hard and your skill doesn’t matter at all. I beat it once and don’t feel the urge to play it again.

    Waker, (edited )

I never thought about the camera but that could be one of the things that bothers me, now that I think about it…

I thought that with season 1 I’d be more hyped to play it, but it seemed so shite I couldn’t bring myself to playing it… And now, knowing that there’ll be expansions yearly, I don’t think I’ll ever bother lol.

    pulaskiwasright,

That was my experience too. I tried to play seasonal content and quit after level 5.

    GBU_28,

Why’d you buy it so quick? It’s not a ride the wave game where you need full lobbies, it’s an arpg that should be durable and accessable for years to come.

    Waker,

You’re right. I didn’t even buy it pre order because I hate doing that and never will. So, after the game was launched, I watched some streams, the game seemed fun and no really big complaints anywhere. A couple of friends also bought the game, and told me it was fun.

And, to be honest, they weren’t wrong. The game WAS fun… Until you end the story and it’s just boring.

I played on both betas too and did enjoy the gameplay and such. Couldn’t wait for more of the story…

So that’s how I ended up buying it 1week or so after release.
