Can agree to this, I’ve tried to play but it plays at like 30fps and the controls are all messed up all the menu based stuff is gone it’s actually awful.
Very excited for this one. Alan Wake 1 wasn’t a masterpiece or anything but I’m very interested to see how they do with a much bigger budget and more experience making games.
I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole game has a clear, crisp gameplay, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the style a big boost. It’s been compared to Valve, but I think Riot has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
ConcernedApe continuing to be legendary. I’ve not played Stardew for a long time but knowing this game made this game was made by one person… the coding… the story… the graphics… the music. It’s just mind boggling. Absolutely amazing.
I should start a new character and experience all the stuff that’s been added.
Or store.epicgames.com/en-US/free-games if you always want to go straight to the freebies (though you have to wait for the actual freebies to load, they show you the freemium ones while you wait!)
Imagine still believing you’re going to get a functioning game.
I was an initial Kickstarter who pretty much knew this was going to happen but had $60 to gamble. Fucking lolol the development hell has far exceeded my wildest expectations for Roberts inability to deliver a finished project.
I’ve only ever really watched this unfold with a causal interest, so whilst I’d like to know more, that article really said very little aside from a few dates and numbers.
More so, and the reason I’m making this comment, is the whole thing felt 100% like the second output of a GPT print. That format of “why is this the way it is? There at several reasons…” followed by a bunch of points that barely address the question, let alone answer it. That and the random bolder phrases.
Still, maybe is had more work put into it than Star Citizen?
Quite a lot of work has gone into sc (more work then exists in the game, thanks Chris Roberts), the problem is, and I’m saying this as someone who has played it with friends, there isn’t a lot of gameplay loop to play. There are gameplay loops, but imo they are kinda… meh?
Which makes me sad. I really want sc to be more than it is.
Roberts is the king of focusing on the wrong shit. Build out the gameplay loops before tacking on dumb shit? Nah let’s put milk and cookies in this bitch.
That’s the biggest issue I can think of. You can only water so many plants, chop so many trees, and pick so many rocks in the mine before you run out of stamina. I’ve had plenty of times where I would go to bed at 2 PM because there was nothing else for me to do. Having eight characters means 8x the stamina, so you can do 8x more work per day. But even for the things that do not require stamina, there are only so many items for forage, so many villagers to talk to, etc.
I’ve got the Q2, and I’ve heard the Q3 is like half the size and weight. If that’s true, it’s a decent upgrade - for me, personally. I don’t care about any of that Meta/Facebook shit, I sideload my APKs and neuter their monitoring and use it as a wireless display, a la Valve Index.
Because in our society we very much need money and gambling sells itself by making you believe you’ll get money. Cosmetics in games has no such issues.
EDIT: as long as you can’t sell them for money a la CSGO.
Paid cosmetics being fine stems from a time where not every other game weaponized FOMO by basically hacking your brain. Yes, it is still easily avoidable by a lot of people, but we shouldn’t allow vulnerable people being preyed on.
For every success, there's 100s and more failures, scams, and unfulfilled promises. Developers should seek traditional funding if they're so confident in their idea. If I'm taking a financial risk on a developer, I should get a financial return if it succeeds. "Kickstarting" is a fancy way of saying "lets socialize losses and privatize profits".
I’ve only crowdfunded a handful of gsmes, mostly vr. Because they can’t get traditional funding. Despite this I want to support projects that could be interesting. Without Kickstarter these projects would not exist, rather than switch to traditional funding.
I know there’s risk, i know they may never get finished. But its worth the risk in case a true gaming gem comes out.
