I haven’t checked in on this game since around launch. Anyone want to bring me up to speed on what’s happening? I gather the latest expansion pack is priced differently than prior DLC?...
This is a sore subject, but I feel it necessary to add to the gaming layoff news: Telltale laid most of us off early September. Status of TWAU2, I can’t say (NDA)....
They never got revived. A third party bought their titles and company title when they went bankrupt.
The new company renamed a division of itself to Telltale and offered the old devs jobs as temporary contract workers.
None of the previous workers took the job. They did end up hiring Adhoc Studios (real former TellTale members) to work on TWAU2 after development stalled.
It should be no surprise that the company is laying off people. They did nothing with the IPs for 4 years besides sit on royalties.
Games haven’t been cheaper on PC for over a decade. Newsflash: Games go on sale regularly on most consoles. Usually better deals than PC. I got Dredge on Xbox for $12, lowest its been on PC is $25.
PCs have a huge range in price but it was literally impossible to build a PC as good as a console for the same price as a console when they released.
Advantages of consoles:
Portability: Steamdeck and the Nintendo Switch are far more convenient than streaming PC games to you phone. Even the PS5 and XBOX Series consoles are easier to move around than the majority of PCs.
Cost: Games are the same price on PC and Consoles in the majority of markets. Steam right now in Canada is actually more expensive than all console storefronts. The intro cost of the machine itself is generally cheaper. On release to get a PC with the same specs as the PS5 you would have to spend $1500 USD. 3 times the price of the PS5 and a game. I just checked pcpartpicker and you still need to spend 800 USD to get a PC on par with the PS5. Still twice the price of the PS5.
Ease of use: Out of box, without question, consoles are easier to use and have a better set of accessibility options for all users.
Coop and controllers: Each console has their own controller that is more comfortable than M&K in extended play and more convenient for couch play. Couch coop is almost exclusively a console benefit. Console controllers benefit over K&M in racing games as well and have dead zones for all other types of games. K&M lacking a dead zone feature is extreamly annoying in a lot of games, especially stealth games.
Maintenance and compatibility: Consoles are easy to maintain. No worring about upgrades or hardware/OS compatibility.
Gaming options: Without resorting to piracy, consoles offer the largest variety of gaming options. More games release on console than they do on PC. That being said a lot of these games are exclusive to certain consoles. Nintendo is extreamly bad for that.
PCs do have thier own pros like lack of exclusive games, upgradibility, customization, over all better performance, Minecraft Java edition. To say that consoles have none is just delusional.
The release of the console version was what spured them to make the game better it was highly praised so they imported all of those features to the PC version.
Every class having movement abilities, change in the difficulty format and Loot 2.0.
Right now, Diablo 4 is much better than Diablo 3 was on release. It just lacks an endgame.
Urban Dead was fun back when I played it. Used to be on the forums a lot and organize curing centres or safe zones.
Dominate Game. Great online risk game with elo system. You could play the default maps in the browser but thier client let you play tons of customer player made maps. Sadly this one got taken down a long time ago, is has a spiritual successor as Dominate 12.
Supremacy 1914. Only played 2 matches of this game, but do to its nature it was over the course of 6 months or so. I believe they have a download client now and the game is also on Steam now.
I’ve been recently been thinking about Arkane Studio’s Prey which is a immersive sim, with a pretty good rogue like dlc, that probably has one of the strongest hooks of any game I’ve played. If you liked Halflife, System Shock, or Deus Ex it’s definitely worth a play....
“On 27 March 2012, Good Old Games announced that it was branching out to feature “AAA” and independent titles in addition to older games. The site was rebranded to GOG.com.”
I assume simulated gambling like in FF7 would be part of it. Anything that uses slot interface to grant a reward but doesn’t have any tie to currency might be fine.
The Valve Index is the least popular VR option and doesn’t rank near the top of VR headsets. Still being beat out by entry level Oculus.
The Steam controller was poorly made flop and has been discontinued. The vast majority of reviews put the controller well below the Xbox controller, which was already PC compatible.
Steam Deck is very expensive and has a very poor battery life. Making the handheld cable tethered. It also went against its open promise by including locked down proprietary software.
Steams customer support ranks the third worst of all top level game stores. Just above Ubisoft and Blizzard.
You mention their Linux support yet the majority of games are yet to be supported and plenty of game will never be supported due to their nature or inclusion of anti-cheat. The only thing Valve has done was release the Steam Client to Linux.
Steam popularized gambling for children and continue to be one of 2 PC companies that continue to do so.
Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 3, which was so massive Larian held it back a day to test it properly, will release today, and it'll add an RPG feature many of us have been requesting since we stepped clear of the Nautiloid - the ability to change a character's appearance.
