To offset that negative fella, continue posting! I enjoy them.

Day 22 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (lemmy.world) angielski

The game is No Man’s Sky. I have been searching off and on for the new Floating Islands added in the newest updates. I found this cool planet. I’m in love with its orange hue and ended up making a base there.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

I really should pick it up, I bought it many years ago, played a little, and have been wanting to play again since then. And it’s gorgeous in VR.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Or they wouldn’t. I tried, died with the first enemy every time, refunded the game. Not everyone can “git gud”.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Dude, I just don’t like it. The game just wasn’t fun for me. The game’s not my cup of tea. It’s not a hard concept. Also, you kinda move the goal post a bit.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

I mean, what if I don’t get good after two hours? Will you refund it? Or will I be stuck with a game I suck at that cost $50 or $60 (or however much that was)? Look, I never was good at gaming. Everything I play is on easy or normal. I’m glad most developers keep gamers like me in mind. And as far as I understand, being hard is part of what makes Elden Ring entertaining, which pretty much makes it the opposite for me.

And pretending that everyone is (or can be) as good as everyone else at everything does not make much sense.

Turn back time and don’t leave the union that actually does pro-consumer things?

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Is the driving fixed? I literally couldn’t drive in this game and gave up after 30 minutes of gameplay many years ago.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Fall Guys. And Pokémon Unite, but you’d have to emulate the Android on your PC and I haven’t been successful on Linux.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

I haven’t, but it’s a bare bones emulator, isn’t it? You also need some mapping software for that game to work.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Not the OP, but IMO it’s that difficulty is an actual feature. And that feels stupid. Difficulty should be a parameter, not a goal.

I’m a story guy myself, so if the game doesn’t have a really good story, it’s not for me. And souls-likes usually sacrifice everything to difficulty. And even if the story was good, dying 20 times with every new boss would break me out of it all the time.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Well, the last release I know of is from 2022. You gotta expect people judging it by 2022 standards, many people will pick it up for the first time.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

I’d tie its length to copyright length. Maybe they would fight Disney when they try to raise it again.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

So, Steam exclusivity is fine, but other stores exclusivity isn’t?

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

They straight up don’t want people reselling games they own. They could do it easily, they just don’t want to.

Yeah, Steam does cool things, but the moment you start thinking that very huge corporation somehow cares about you, you’re doomed. Companies don’t care about people, they care about numbers. Especially huge companies like Valve.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

I doubt it, it’s much easier to mod the console. Or just use a boot disc (or whatever those were called, I had the chip mod, so I don’t remember, but my friend used to have the disc which he had to insert before playing a pirated game).

What games would you suggest that have LAN support these days?

While PC may be one's first thought here, I'd also be really interested in any mobile games that might leverage one's local wifi network for multiplayer.

Classics are a-okay for suggestion too, btw!

@games

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Heroes of Might and Magic V, aka the best one (go on and fight me, HOMaM III gang). Even better with the unofficial 5.5 patch/mod which adds tons of gameplay.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

I tried it, but just can’t see the appeal after having played 5. The graphics are horrible and the gameplay is almost the same as 5.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Well, there’s no redemption arc bigger than NMS in gaming history, being optimistic about NMS is ok and has been for a few years.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Or I, like many others, just haven’t noticed. The thing popped on my news feed.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Witcher 3. For like sixth time. I think I might need some help, because I’ve bought around 5 games last month and I didn’t even open them.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

The CEO represents the company that developed the game. And in this context, dev = the company that developed the game. So yeah, it’s the dev [company] talking about stuff.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Well, there’s a huge reason! Those who decide such things should be in the game judge others by what they would do and because they’re bunch of thieves, they think everyone is. They’re also tech illiterate enough to think this will actually stop someone from pirating the game.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Vampire Survivors so I’m pretty much fucked.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

They’re good at that. I remember trying Skyrim when it was new and we all didn’t know there would be like 15 rereleases and it felt weirdly dated. I couldn’t really put my finger on why, it just felt old.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

They should regret. First-person RPG is like third-person shooter. It works, but it’s weird.
