li10,

Not that surprising tbh, he seemed to love being speaker.

ORDEEEEEERR

li10,

Releasing June 8

looks at calendar

Wait…

li10,

You actually got me excited for a second you bastard.

I love Bloodborne so much, but I honestly find it near unplayable just because of the FPS.

li10,

I’ve signed it, looking forward to the nonchalant dismissive response from the government.

li10,

Meanwhile, other games just pick 5 basic templates then make 200 side quests based off those.

I do not understand how people can still play assassin’s creed.

li10,

I know Lemmy hates it, but I really think AI could play a core part in the future of multiple choice RPGs.

I’m not saying let it be free and build the entire game, but if you train a model to be a certain character and add limitations so it doesn’t go too wild, then that could be massive imo.

Still have a human storyline and imagination behind the game, but use AI like the tool it is for certain parts.

li10,

It can have both.

You could have a fully man made storyline, but then expand the world in a way that is currently impossible.

Even if you train a model for main characters/stories, it would still be built off the work of writers, the model would simply be the character they’ve written.

li10,

I agree, I just think those major advancements will happen.

AI isn’t going to be the answer for everything, but I think it will have a massive impact on video games, in both positive and negative ways.

No doubt some companies are going to be putting out absolute dogshit AI games.

li10,

It’s been a thing for a while now. Hell, you should even be running an SSD for Windows these days.

HDD isn’t suitable for modern systems, except for cheaper mass storage.

li10,

The beginning of the end for HDD gaming was probably the PS5 release, it’s been an afterthought since then.

li10,

I’m on a strict “don’t trust trailers” diet since seeing the new Napoleon film, so I’ll wait and see for this series.

li10,

I thought it was bad tbh

Didn’t like that it wasn’t historically accurate, but even looking past that it was just boring imo

li10,

Sometimes a good game is just a good game regardless of age.

And graphics in particular are often overrated, as design is often more important than resolution. 4k isn’t going to help a game that’s bland and uninspired.

I always use dark souls as an example; you zoom into the textures and it looks awful, but you look at it as a whole and it looks incredible.

li10,

Anyone got a suggestion for mouse and keyboard cutting out intermittently?

It’s a cyberpunk specific issue that lots of people have had, but none of the fixes I found worked :/

It’s actually driving me insane. Ruins most combat encounters and means that I’ll randomly mow people down while trying to drive round a corner…

li10,

I am still so surprised that they made a sequel for this.

The first game was just so bland and clunky, and for a while at least was the go to example of a bad souls like.

li10,

You’d have to be a masochist to actually play this on steam deck or with any controller.

Unless they have some sort of “steam deck only” matchmaking, but even then it’s just not made for controller.

li10,

I’d say in this instance there’s a massive difference between CS and OW tbh.

I can believe that you could do well and enjoy OW on controller vs M+K, as the game gives you a lot of tools that reduce the need for good aim.

In CS, I just can’t see how you’d work around that though. To each their own, but I don’t see how CS could ever be enjoyable on controller vs K+M.

li10,

I’d say they’ve really got the game to a good place at this point. In ways it still isn’t perfect, but if it had been like this at release then people would’ve absolutely loved it.

It’s something I think about for quite a lot of open world games, but it always seems like a waste that companies just move on from building up a game.

Really feels like they could spend years just adding to the world they’ve built.

li10,

Don’t imagine Microsoft would have too much success trying to poach Japanese companies.

They’re notoriously “Japan first” in everything they do, but enough money would probably change that.

li10,

I said it in another thread, but Unity has truly fucked the vendor-client relationship.

While it is a nightmare, you can work with a company that changes its prices and terms, but you absolutely can’t work with a company that pulls this level of BS.

It’s just not safe to have your company so dependent on a vendor that could tank it on a whim.

li10,

It is essentially just a tech demo BUT, I would say they’ve touched on what I wanted from the space travel.

You can take off, fly the ship, point it up, and then boost off into space. That’s fun, that’s what I wanted, and I don’t think it’s really expecting that much.

“It’S NoT ReAlIsTiC”, none of it’s realistic, it’s a video game ffs.

It’s a fun and engaging mechanic that I’d expect in a great space game.

Bethesda’s seeming disdain for anything that could be considered a fun and seamless mechanic is frustrating. And fanboys seemingly have no expectation that Bethesda games should actually get better and improve on their weak areas.

li10,

I just don’t think it’s good to let a company get away with not improving.

The small improvements they have made in Starfield are alright, but it feels like the bar was set with Skyrim and they can’t even really match something from 12 years ago.

I do not have high hopes for TES VI and I’m half expecting something extremely dated, as based off FO4 and Starfield I think the studio’s best days are behind them at this point.

li10,

In comparison to BG3, the dialogue and stories are incredibly bland in Starfield.

If you don’t compare it to BG3 though, then the dialogue and stories are still incredibly bland.

I swear every Bethesda game does this. For example, when you get three dialogue options, they all say basically the same thing, and they all set up the player to be dunked on by the NPCs response…

Or the only options are:

“wow! Incredible! I love kittens, good on ya kid!”

Or

“You don’t wanna mess with me, I’ll kill you.”

li10,

To be honest, I’d prefer binary good/bad moral choice options in a game, rather than half assed stories with multiple fake choices with no consequences.

Give me a good story line or an evil one, but make both of them high quality. Or, just stick to one.

BG3 did multiple choices properly. Whereas Starfield (or any Bethesda game) is just a waste of time having dialogue options.

li10, (edited )

Even if they think it’s a fun mechanic, they fundamentally fucked the amount you can carry imo. Should be higher than it is by default, because I straight up don’t want to waste skill points on that.

Then they’ve fucked the amount of cargo you can have on a ship. Either make it infinite, or ridiculously high even for a small ship.

I’ve got multiple freight containers on my ship, and apparently each can only carry about the same amount as my character??

li10,

It could really benefit from some sort of vehicle as well.

I land on a planet, sprint 300m to the first point of interest, 900m to the next, 700m to the next etc. and most of it is just sprinting through nothing…

Feels like it’s just wasting my time, as there is literally nothing in between. I think a little hover bike would be a great addition to the game.

li10,

imo the entire game needs a once over to add in a ton of QOL improvements.

li10,

Buggy and disappointing to a lot of people.

li10,

They claim no virus, so they must have cracked it themselves /s

li10,

Having just looked up the equivalent PC specs, it really doesn’t seem like a lot of power.

I imagine the game can run “fine”, but they probably need to do a fair bit of optimisation or people will complain about the way it looks and frame rate.

One of the benefits consoles used to have was everyone running the same hardware, but they’ve lost that now and I don’t imagine console players will be as accepting of lower quality as PC players with low end GPUs.

li10,

Even without a lawsuit, is it worth the hassle?

They’d lose a lot of trust in case they ever wanted to do something similar in future.

I’d be furious with any company if they pulled that sort of shit with a product I owned.

li10,

Did they ever actually get the game working as it should?

I checked getting on for a year ago and apparently it was still in a bit of a state then.

That being said, even though people were furious about the performance, the lack of depth was what really made the game a disappointment.

li10,

Not really the place for it, but why do some people still get so annoyed about the size of games these days?

If you want games to continue improving then the file sizes are going to increase. Maybe devs could do more, but at the same time it’s just a fact that high res textures and larger scale games need more space.
