ampersandrew, do games w For me, Cyberpunk 2077 was uninteractive and has low replayablility value.
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, it’s no Baldur’s Gate 3, and I do hope they learn more lessons from contemporary CRPGs, but I’d say it has other strengths. I liked the combat, and I liked the story, characters, and world-building. Open worlds in most open world games are pretty shallow, and I’d say both this and The Witcher 3 follow that same template to the same ends, but at the very least, it allows you to approach an objective how you’d like after scouting it out, which feels satisfying. It’s RPG-lite, which manifests as a pretty good action game with some story branching, and I’m not upset about that, as much as I’d prefer they lean into the RPG stuff harder.

Baldurs gate has fucking ruined me.

negativenull, do games w What are your favorite 1000+ hour games?
@negativenull@lemmy.world avatar

I’m amazed nobody has mentioned Kerbal Space Program (first one). That and TF2 are my most played

Finadil,

Yay, a fellow KSPer! Though I’m just barely over at 1,041 hrs.

Tower, do games w What are your favorite 1000+ hour games?

No Man’s Sky. A foot deep but a mile wide.

Brokkr, do games w question(s) about etiquette in MMORPGs

Give all of those things a try. None of them are “wrong”. Experiment and see what works best with the type of people you want to spend time with. Just don’t get discouraged if your success rate is low (some people just won’t be interested) and respect people’s decisions if they choose to ignore you.

solid advice right here. thank you so much, i’ll experiment a little and see how it goes… i’m probably over thinking some of this as well 😆

Mandy, do games w You know what would be cool? If all those (job name) simulator games could all be joined.

All these bargain bin simulators are just flipping the same template anyway so it probably wouldn’t be so hard to actually do

Hux, do games w I spent 6000+ hours of my life building this character

I looked up my old character just the other day—my account must had been compromised because all of my gear was gone.

I could totally see myself going back to play again and pick up where I left off (after 18 years), but I don’t think that’s possible anymore.

Anissem, do gaming w SteamDeck TOP Played list.
@Anissem@lemmy.ml avatar

WTF is this banana shit

Anivia,

It’s a cookie clicker type game that occasionally drops steam items that you can sell on the marketplace for real money. Most of the playtime comes from bots, not actual players, which is why it is so far up the charts

The whole thing is a scam basically

youtu.be/gqVLPx-4O48

trebor_project,

People actually buy steam items?

Meltrax, do games w In the era of remakes and remasters, what niche game would you like to see receive the treatment?

SSX Tricky brought up to PS5 graphics.

Suck_on_my_Presence,

I was coming here to reply SSX 3 :)

specialseaweed,

I love you both very much.

I still play SSX3 GameCube version on my Wii.

Skates, do gaming w This is spot on for so many games

Name one open-world game from the past 5 years whose map looks like this. Seriously. I’d like to play it.

Shou,

Satisfactory. Alien planet version.

Nurgus,

Satisfactory does it really well. You’ve got all those biomes (except ice?) but some areas are really three dimension or twisted up. Exploring in Satisfactory 1.0 is a real highlight in what is otherwise a very chill sanbox building game.

ytsedude, do gaming w Games that restore faith in the industry?

If you haven’t played it, “Stardew Valley” is, like, ruin-your-life good. And I think part of what makes it so faith assuring and life uplifting is that it was made by one dude who has continuously (for YEARS) released huge, free updates for the game. He’s awesome. It feels good supporting him and recommending such a great game to people. :-)
