Exanima, it’s mostly a testing ground for a game the devs want to make around this concept. It’s a good time, and also exactly what I think you’re looking for.
Not to bury the lede, it is a fairly full featured action game, but there’s not really a story element at this stage. store.steampowered.com/app/362490/Exanima/
I also had Exanima in mind.
The story is actually already there, it’s just easy to miss :)
Although I’m guessing once they finish up work on the AI, roles and dialogue system soon, there’ll be more of it.
True, somewhat of a “look for the story and you’ll find it” dark souls vibe. I got the impression from dev logs that the end goal is a more traditional RPG story
I believe that’s more of a goal for Sui Generis. Which is the game they initially begun working on (and still are).
They do have some dialogue with Derrin that gives us some lore, so I’m guessing we’ll get more of that.
Kerbal Space Program. But that's not "action", more like simulation, and, the entire game revolves around accurate, realistic physics, since it models actual space travel. So accurate to the point where you can build and test crazy real world concepts like the machine from that company that wants to put stuff into orbit by spinning it and then flinging it up through the atmosphere at hypersonic speeds.
The Halo 1 and KOTOR twists do hit pretty hard if you somehow haven’t been spoiled. KOTOR has one of my favorite reveal sequences ever with showing you how much foreshadowing you missed, and Halo’s twist turns the game on its head.
However, Reach’s tagline was, “From the beginning, you know the end,” so there was an expectation that everyone playing would know how it was going to pan out.
You can only stuff about those games without having the twist or whatever spoiled. What Halo twist was it? I’ve finished it a few times and don’t remember really. It was all about how open it was and the action, plus the multiplayer.
Edit. I’m not sure what the difference is between deluxe and ultimate but for a couple more dollars i got the ultimate. Might as well while it’s still available.
I bought this last time it was on sale, and while the game is fun I have a word of warning for people looking to buy this to play with friends: The online is NOT stable!
It often hangs while connecting to a race and waits for the server upwards of multiple minutes. That’s bad since a race itself can be a minute or two long. Also, you can’t race against each other with AI cars, the options are either playing co-op which is piss easy or face each other alone. Races are just a bit lonely with 2 or 3 players.
Multiplayer aside, Forza is a really fun time, I just wouldn’t buy it if you’re mainly looking to play with friends.
Also, if it gets delisted, you will be unable to play single player or multiplayer. I found this out the hard way with Forza Motorsport 7 and Gran Turismo Sport.
I have the physical DVDs or BluRay disks for both games. Neither will work even for single player because you have to download the tracks from the server every single race. No server means no tracks.
I think they’re talking about the Guten Tag quote. If I remember correctly that is what you hear when your spy is in disguise and starts talking with an enemy soldier (I don’t remember the chain guns so I’m guessing this is from a different game).
Sister Calderón: We’ve all lived bad lives, Mr. Morgan. We all sin… but I know you.
Arthur: You don’t know me.
Sister Calderón: Forgive me, but… that’s the problem. You don’t know you.
Arthur: What do you mean?
Sister Calderón: I don’t know… whenever we happen to meet, you’re always helping people and smiling.
Arthur: I had a son… he passed away. I had a girl who loved me… I threw that away. My momma died when I was a kid, and my daddy… well, I watched him die. And it weren’t soon enough.
Sister Calderón: My husband died a long time ago. Life is full of pain. But there is also love, and beauty.
Arthur: What am I gonna do now?
Sister Calderón: Be grateful that for the first time, you see your life clearly. Perhaps you could help somebody? Helping makes you really happy.
Arthur: But… I still don’t believe in nothin’.
Sister Calderón: Often, neither do I. But then, I meet someone like you, and everything makes sense
Arthur: Heh… You’re too smart for me, Sister. I guess I… I’m afraid.
Sister Calderón: There is nothing to be afraid of. Take a gamble that love exists, and do a loving act.
I have played two full play-throughs, and a few half passed play-throughs. RDR2 is an absolute masterpiece that made me feel way more than I ever expected a video game to.
