They got me! I couldn’t resist for that price.

That’s a lot of money for a generation that just isn’t worth it.

Any good games that break the mold angielski

It feels like new games are just more of the same, with no real meaning. However I recently started playing “Return of the Obra Dihn” and love open ended deduction in it. It feels like I’m actually figuring things out by myself without being handheld through it. Are there any other games that don’t coddle the player that...

The Long Dark

Survival game set in the cold Canadian wilderness. Most “survival” games are actually just boring crafting games but TLD is very different for me as it is mostly about exploring in the freezing cold with natural predators around to keep you on edge.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Looks kinda promising but I need to wait for the real reviews.

B0NK3RS, (edited )
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I like the fact they tried to compete with Steam from the begining. I have a large library of games and some real gems that I wouldn’t normally look at.

EGS is ok, GOG is ok and also Steam is just ok too for what I want from a store/launcher.

No digital game store is worth your loyalty.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not going to argue my point any further but I will say, use it all for what you want. Absolute loyalty, which you seem to have, is pointless.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t think I’ve ever 100% a game. I don’t care about achievements and I’ve finished the campaign/story on many but I rarely go back to any.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

It’s looks really promising but we all know (like every game nowadays) to wait until release week.

I started another playthrough of Space Marine this week in anticipation though.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not surprised. My experience with Xbox has declined over the last few years now so wouldn’t recommend it to anyone anymore.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

PS5 ui is actually quite bland but at least it isn’t crammed full of useless shit like the Xbox dashboard.

I find the aesthetics of Xbox are actually nice but again they fill the dash with so much stuff it’s a mess and intrusive.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t really have an opinion either way for “always online” but live service (games as a service) makes me actively avoid that shit.

It’s perfectly fine to “finish” a game (maybe after a year or two) and move on to making the next. You don’t need to have a 10 year plan to try and keep it relevant.

Steam Summer Sale - Top Deals angielski

Initial scrolling of the Steam Summer Sale seems pretty lackluster, but digging through the comments sections in other threads, a few gems have stood out, and it doesn’t appear we have a thread dedicated to this yet, so post what you think are the best deals here!...

GRIP: Combat Racing £24.99 £2.49 (90% off)

Spiritual successor to Rollcage with a great soundtrack.

B0NK3RS, (edited )
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

This War of Mine: Complete Edition £26.93 £3.91 (85% off)

In my opinion one of the greatest games but also one of the saddest. If you already own the game then I highly recommend all the DLC as they all bring some interesting scenarios to the game.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

It’s a classic and the originals still hold up today.

Rollcage Redux (1)

Rollcage Extreme (2)

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I didn’t realise it was a failed Kickstarter. I bought it in early access so I guess they decided to risk it that way and it worked out in the end.

Fixed. Thanks.

@games What demos did you try today? | DAY 2

Greetings festive fellowship of the fediverse, it's the second day of the , and there are still many games to discover and discuss, let's share our mutual discoveries of today

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Old School Rally

Heavily inspired by Colin McRae Rally on the PS1 and it looks the part but the car handling really lets in down. Unresponsive at stirred, brakes are too sticky and pace notes are called to late and not together.

Parking Garage Rally Circuit

Fun little circuit time trial mode in the demo with arcade controls (hold X to drift and earn boost like Mario Kart). Kind of game where you will spend time perfecting your run to try and save milliseconds. It has the visuals of a Sega Saturn/Arcade game which is cool.

What are some excellent free games/total conversions that are worth playing the whole thing? angielski

I used up play a ton of Doom mods years ago and a lot of the TCs were fun but lacked substance beyond the surface. Some of the new ones are cool but overly complex. (The Sonic cart game has an hour long tutorial before you start). I was a big fan of Simon’s Destiny, the Castlevania mod for Doom....

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Never heard of BAR before so thanks for this. Looks amazing and can’t wait to try.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

N64 is one of my favourites but also the hardest to go back to after all these years.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I have barely any subscriptions for anything anymore and once Gamepass expires (I did the £1 upgrade offer) I will not renew.

I just chop and change to whatever I want for the month but overall I don’t really use many paid services anymore.

What are some eras of gaming that you've stopped feeling nostalgic for? (kbin.social) angielski

As I've gotten older as a player, I have found myself dropping some eras of gaming that I used to be nostalgic for. One of them is the 8-bit era, the NES days. I have played some of the best that system had to offer and I will never say that system didn't have any good games....

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Even though I grew up with 8/16bit I’ve never really had any nostalgia for it apart from a select few games.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I didn’t own a PS2 until about 2006 when I lived with my girlfriend (now wife!) but even then it was replaced with an Xbox 360 the next year.

I’m a Dreamcast and GameCube kid and I do love the PS1 but just haven’t got any nostalgia for PS2.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

You won’t believe what happened next…

No one likes post like these so please give more context next time.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I haven’t played it yet and every time I get reminded of the game it’s because of something like this…

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

It wasn’t really an issue while the console was still alive though, at least not until very near the end at least. It would have became a massive issue if the console continued though.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I think the 3 main reasons why are lack of DVD player, lack of 3rd party support and then the player base losing confidence because of the Saturn.

DCJY podcast Ep.100 is great for this and has an interview with Peter Moore that gives some details.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

SWH is excellent so the same and more please.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I’m really looking forward to Harold Halibut.

I avoided the demo last month because of spoilers and have barely read or watched anything about the game in anticipation.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

buying games on GOG (directly on our service or via Luna) will give you the best of both worlds – enjoying them on Luna’s cloud gaming service, as well as via offline installers or GOG GALAXY.

This sounds pretty good but not really something I would use GOG for unless it is included in Amazon Prime.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Citizen Sleeper, one the the best games, not just indie.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Developers change so much that it is hard to have a favourite anymore.

SCS have been going for a while now and are doing a great job with ETS2 and ATS, supporting the game and releasing/updating DLC regulary. It feels like a true passion project for them.

Most of favourites are small indie developers and games like Live For Speed, Software Inc, Ostriv.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

If you want a game that runs poorly then check out Squad

Something definitely seems off about the 2070 if it is struggling at 1080p so don’t give up yet. You might still get to play if you diagnose what’s wrong.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Payday 3’s concurrent player count is 287 on Steam

Yep, that’ll do it… Those are absolutely awful numbers.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t really have a strict one or the other preference anymore.

Nintendo 1st party stuff I always buy physical, Dreamcast I collect for so that’s physical too but for Xbox I buy mostly digital when on sale. I guess for Xbox its different because I have Gamepass (the £1 upgrade deal they used to offer, still 18 months remaining, but I won’t renew) so I haven’t bought a new game in like 2 years now. The there is PC… My games are all over the place!

Plus with a family we just dont have the space to keep everything forever that we buy anymore.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t like either company (but in this case I do side with Epic) but I do like all the drama they bring.

Looking for emotional game recommendations angielski

My favorite games are Omori, Disco Elysium and Outer Wilds. I cried for hours at the end of those games, and I think the common point in them is high-quality emotional writing and stellar OST (music really affect me) and my attachment to the characters....

B0NK3RS, (edited )
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Death Stranding had me all over the place. Also the first season of Telltales The Walking Dead.

Basically anything with kids can set me off and I find somewhat difficult nowadays as I have children of my own.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

It took me a couple tries with DS too. The first few chapters don’t do it justice but once you get past that it’s just amazing.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

It’s quite an open question. Most games I play are “one and done” even though I think most people go back to them. Even with replayability it doesn’t mean that you have to and I’m happy to leave things be once the story is over.

Mafia trilogy sticks to the story and will take a decent amount of hours.

Inside is short but fun.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Any kind of microtransaction or paid content is a real turn off for me nowadays. I really couldn’t care less about your loot boxes, battle passes and “games as a service” so I will just play something else.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Unlocks and cheat codes are now DLC…

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Integrated graphics have improved massively so what are we talking? 5600G or HD 630 can play GTA V for example.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I used to collect various systems and games but nowadays don’t have much left apart from my Dreamcast stuff. Cost, storage space and just the risk of something becoming unplayable mean emulation is my go to now.

PS1 is probably my most played system, I used ePSXe for years but recently switched to Duckstation and so far so good. Some of my all time favourites are GT2, Future Cop LAPD, Devil Dice, Colin McRae Rally 1/2.

If you want something to play on Dolphin then the GameCube version of Skies of Arcadia is excellent.

What adventure games do you recommend? angielski

pretty much the title. i have played most of sierra, lucasarts and telltale catalogues so if you are suggesting one of their games i’ve probably already played it. it doesn’t have to be a copycat, homage or in the same style as these companies’ games either, just that it must satisfy the vague definition of being an...

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I like the Runaway series. Well its been a long long time since I played but I remember them being good.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

Planetbase, it doesn’t take long to figure out but I’m trying to unlock the other more challenging planets at the moment which just takes time.

I’m on the lookout for challenging survival management/city building games if anyone can recommend one? Something like Banished, This War of Mine or Frostpunk.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

I wasn’t expecting much but this news is disappointing. Hopefully the remake and live-service game are completely separate from one another.

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

SoA is excellent but the random battles are too much. I’ve played it so many times over the years but never actually completed it!

B0NK3RS,
@B0NK3RS@lemmy.world avatar

GRID (2019), there seems to be a lack of decent arcade track racers nowadays but this is a good one.
