2m copies in a month puts this on pace with SF6, could this be a signal the general FGC has expanded? Pretty impressive

Yeah waiting for a steam sale.

I’m planning on getting it in a steam sale. I guess it’ll have to get to steam first.

I’d love to pay full price for a physical version of this game if they would release one. Weakening physical sales will only increase the power held by the digital storefronts.

  • SomethingBurger,

    Most likely never. Unlike other exclusives, this game was entirely funded by Epic.

    GammaGames, (edited )

    Unfortunate, I wonder how well it did on pc?

    stardust,

    Did it even get included in video card bundles to boost sales?

    rautapekoni,

    My brother got it with a GeForce card so yes.

    chloyster,

    it appears that Alan Wake 2 is on track to be even more popular than Control, with the 2023 sequel having sold 1.3 million units as of this month, the fastest selling Remedy game to date. “By comparison, Alan Wake 2 sold over 50% more copies and over three times more digital copies in its first two months than Control did in its first four months,”

    GammaGames,

    Wow! I hadn’t really heard about it so I assumed, does it say what platform that’s for?

    DdCno1,

    All platforms combined.

    Chronographs,

    That first four months wouldn’t include the steam sales which weren’t until a year later, I wonder how they compare

    stardust,

    This is one of the games where I think epic exclusive is understandable. But, due to past and future actions I still won’t buy it from epic, but will happily claim it in a future give away.

    I couldn’t get into the first one due to the gameplay and my strong dislike of Alan himself, but I loved the story and the universe they’ve created from it. It makes me excited that so many people are loving this, since that (hopefully) means we’ll see more games that link to each other!

    I appreciate AW1 but the gameplay was pretty repetitive and feels dated today (imo). 2 is a lot more enjoyable

    This is going to be the goty when it finally releases on steam in 2035

    You think that's the year the Epic store closes?

    stardust,

    Depends entirely on Fortnite’s continued dominance.

    Stating that all future content and expansions will be free even outside of early access is a powerful idea. I'm not sure how it'll pan out for them financially, but as long as the core game is good and runs well I think that the incredible wall of paid content in the Sims and that immediate feeling of "I'm not getting the whole thing" when considering only buying the base game is definitely something that's basically stopped me from moving on from Sims 3.

    Why go to 4 if I have a content robust game already, and getting a similar amount of content there would cost a small fortune? If a well playing competitor arrives with one base game price and a promise that future content comes free, I think that could be a real foot in the door for this genre.

    @MacedWindow@lemmy.world avatar

    It all depends on the ratio. 24/48 is pretty bad, but 24/150 is a bit more reasonable.

    Three Goku Super Saiyans, two of which are both mid-Z.

    TwilightVulpine,

    Weird to have so many versions of the same form but no kid Goku.

    List’s not exhaustive yet. There’s absolutely room for 1-3 pre Z gokus. There’s also no way it won’t have GT Goku, Super Saiyan 4, and all the various Vegito/Gogetas.

    @WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

    This isn't a necessity for Riot; the American Gaming Corporations are addicted to layoffs because it's a naked display of their power. If they were made to take responsibility for their bad financial decisions, CEOs and other corporate leeches would have their unnecessarily high pay cut.

    Instead of cutting CEO and executive pay let’s fire some of the employees. - sounds about Capitalism

    That's why I honestly respect Nintendo execs because they will take pay cuts over laying off staff when the going is tough! They might occasionally do shitty things or make out of touch decisions but at least they care about the health of their companies. Game companies can't make good games without talent.
