Even general desktop use is much more fluid like the mouse cursor, scrolling, and moving windows. I immediately notice if a monitor is running at 60 hz.

It was enough to make me too lazy to bother even when the hype was there. Now it seems even the community that plays/played it is negative on it so even less likely to bother with Ubisoft launcher for it than at launch. I have UPlay installed too, but I don’t even know if anyone in my friend list from Steam was playing it compared to other games that they are shown playing.

PS5 has been the generation of PS4 remasters/remakes. PS5 might as well be the PS4 Pro Pro and the PS5 Pro the PS4 Pro Pro Pro.

If someone is conflicted then best is to wait for a steep sale, bundle, or giveaway so it’s a decreased cut. Either way it’s a win win for the wallet and I don’t most people have trouble finding time to finish games and a backlog that keeps growing than having no games to play.

I think it’s better to just admit someone doesn’t care and they want to consume than trying to creating some moral loopholes for why it is excusable for a product they really want.

It’s like piracy. Some try so hard to morally justify it. Others just admit I want it for free. In the end we just want to consume. I sure do. I want my product.

State of Fifa and NBA games is depressing. Even the annual release for roster updates wasn’t something I liked, but it being full on freemium casino at annual full price is why I stopped getting sports games years ago. Left too bad a taste to get ripped off like that.

    People’s first impression of it was Metro Exodus being pulled from Steam close to launch and becoming exclusive to Epic despite even physical copies having the Steam logo.

    Turned out people don’t really like a company going out of its way to try and remove purchasing options from consumers for third party titles. This not only affected steam but releases on GOG too.

    A lot of people requested that DARQ be made available on GOG. I was happy to work with GOG to bring the game to their platform. I wish the Epic Store would allow indie games to be sold there non-exclusively, as they do with larger, still unreleased games (Cyberpunk 2077), so players can enjoy what they want: a choice.

    Check isthereanydeals for deals on steam keys that aren’t gray market and lower than Steam. How do they get around it? Well it seems to more apply to retail price and not sales price.

    Consequence of what you are proposing is that companies with economies of sale or are willing to operate at a loss due to other sections of the corporation being their main source of profitable revenue would be only ones left. Ironically ensuring higher barriers to entry than there already is. The 10% is more realistic for key resellers than those trying to launch a profitable mainstream platform hosting and distributing everything as opposed to side project that can lose money.

    I wish they had an official Linux client since while heroic launcher works for downloading syncing saves can be buggy and it would be nice to get achievements.

    Not like console gamers were ever given a choice, but PC gamers kept wanting PC ports for more frames over the 30 fps standard. Graphics were already good during the PS4 era and PS5 is still crutching so hard on PS4 games during their PS5 pro showcasing. Now console users wanting the same after finally getting the option over a decade later I think shows they aren’t too different from PC gamers in loving frames.

    I think it’s absolutely appalling that Sony is raising prices on controllers while basically under supplying the dual sense edge joysticks and refusing to fix the stick drift issues. I have 3 controllers and each one of them has the same problem after a few months. It’s maddening.

    I considered getting a dualsense before for pcgaming, but the stick issues pushed me away when other alternatives have hall effect sticks and grip buttons without paying the price of the dualsense edge.

    I’m tired of games getting songs removed, so I am actually glad Rockstar and hopefully others are going the route of trying to only get songs that won’t end up having to be removed down the line. Not cool getting an update getting a song removed.

    It’s also that they put out a product I actually find value from like Linux support, Steam Input, forums, workshop, etc. I enjoy using Steam because I find it to be a good experience.

    It’s like reasons people prefer Android or Apple even if they share the same apps. Really can’t discount the experience simple things like navigation and social features do to add value. Those who dismiss it as unimportant probably share the same views as some MBA who only looks at the numbers and think they can just enter and corner a market through brute force spending.

    Epic store not being profitable and despite the backing of Fortnite and Unreal Engine surplas being at the state that it is shows that it is probably much more expensive than expected to make a feature rich launcher. What epic has is more a glorified storefront like humble bundle or Fanatical but worse because it isn’t even selling keys for the platform of your choice, and they have to handle server costs of storing all the games too.

    In a way it like trying to enter the smartphone market and paying for app exclusives then ignoring the part about polishing the OS experience as much as possible and putting out something that is from the flip phone era.

    Naive to think epic is offering a lower cut for altruistic reasons as opposed to it being the only method they could think of to try to convince devs to sell there. And that they wouldn’t jack up the rate once they corned the market given how their how strategy has been more reminiscent of Walmart approach of pricing lowering to gain market share. Biggest sign is that the store isn’t even profitable much like how lot of services these days aren’t profitable and burn money then jack up prices and offer less once they corner the market. Hell even Microsoft Store has offered low rates of 12% because few want to use it. Going to argue Microsoft is nice too now? Not falling for it Tim.

    Anyways existing doesn’t entitle you to money. Make something people actually want to use and don’t piss off your potential consumer base from the get go.

    You still haven’t given a reason why to actually use epic despite your attempts to paint a billion dollar company as though it is some altruistic startup. If product isn’t good why should I go out of my way to pay for a worse one from another billionaire. If it is all billionaires I’m going to just pick the better product.

    Their trailer with esports people had me going who even are these people and why would I believe anything coming out of their mouths when they are the equivalent of infomercial sales people with them being paid to be in it. Is it really the best way to market a game?

    Yeah, when I did the 3 month trial I felt pressured to make the most of the subscription so I put aside some games I had planned on playing that I already had. I didn’t find myself needing game pass since I already had enough games so I never renewed once the trial ended.

    Emulating a Nintendo DS and looking for stylus only games is my recommendation. Games like Kirby Canvas Curse, Kirby Mass Attack, and Warioware Touched are fun.

    My desktop which I got hooked up to a monitor and also a TV, so I switch between the two depending on if I want something super responsive or a cinematic couch experience.

    Been also supplementing that with my Steam Deck where I can pick up playing the same game and continue my progress with a handheld.

    Seems like that’d be hard to track with so many stores selling steam keys just looking at isthereanydeals.

    Weird thing is it is the publishers themselves that are able to set the price so they are choosing not to put the game on sale same as it is elsewhere. Probably to not devalue the price of their game like the Nintendo strategy when it comes to certain storefronts.

    I guess steam could have avoided making billions if they had never improved their launcher since Half Life 2. Not improving products and keeping it as crappy as possible so people stay away from it is one business strategy of ensuring people are deterred from using it.

    Shame they kept improving and made something people want to use.

    if you think a 30% cut doesn’t reflect on the cost a player is paying, you’re out of your mind. This is business 101.

    Isn’t business 101 charging as much as possible and not passing on savings to customers, and trying to capture as much high paying consumers as possible before being forced to start capturing price sensitive consumers with discounts?

    Price of games that didn’t release on Steam seem to reflect that. Even games released by platform owners like Sony or Nintendo first party exclusives and the beloved Blizzard. Isn’t that pricing strategy business 101 as opposed to this belief that savings pass onto consumers? Lowering price right away doesn’t seem like good price maximizing strategy when goal would be to increase retail price consumers are willing to pay over time.

    Those are steam keys.

    I’ve bought most of games through other sites because the games would be discounted lower and sooner than Steam. So it’s more personal experience than theory in my case.

    Humble bundles on the even more extreme end of like 8 games sometimes being cheaper than a single title has ever been discounted.

    Isthereanydeals is a great resource. I always make sure to look up a game there before buying to check what the lowest price it was ever sold was.

    That link was for helldivers 2 which is only available on steam on pc. From what I understand the keys are actually provided by the devs/publishers and steam doesn’t get a cut of key sales.

    If your pc is good you should play it through rpcs3 which I played at 4k/120 without issue. And it looks to be Lollipop Chainsaw isn’t a remake and rpcs3 is basically a remaster that is available now.

    Doesn’t even have to be sketchy resellers like ones mentioned like g2a. Normal ones like fanatical and humble bundle sell cheaper. Those aren’t user driven market places.

    Just have to take a look at isthereanydeals which anyone should do before buying a game.

    For some reason that doesn’t surprise me. When I got a PS4 there were like at least 10 exclusives I wanted. This gen seems it’s mostly remasters and remakes. So ignoring that Sony games come to PC now it doesn’t even meet my criteria of number of exclusives to justify picking one up.
