The features described could be accomplished with a PIR motion sensor. I don’t see any reason they’d go to the expense of adding a camera, especially since infrared is better for operating in the dark like you’d expect for an alarm clock that’ll need to be able to wake kids at 6am in the winter.

This is the first I’ve even heard of “Concord”

Sounds like I’m not missing much

That’s a 700 ml bottle of 89.9% alcohol. Alcohol is 9 cal/gram (similar energy density to fat) and around 0.78 g/ml making the right close to triple the fried food and beer in calories (~4400)

The trailer has the vibe of a historical documentary about the daily life of peasents in the middle ages that you watch on substitute teacher days.

So not “is it a good game” but “is the story agreeable artistically and in its implications”

Personally I don’t see any point in playing AoE if you’re not going to have a big daddy leading your cavalry

Any controller that’s thin and rectangular: NES, Turbografx-16, sega master system, or more recently the switch in handheld mode

Not what I was expecting. “Diminishing” made me think that the new effect of the beacons would cover a larger area but diminish as distance to the building increases

I’ve been meaning to finish the first one. Is there combat in that game? I just remember picking flowers for hours.

key,
@key@lemmy.keychat.org avatar

How do you know? The video doesn’t show any of the game.

key,
@key@lemmy.keychat.org avatar

A few things are stopping me from that actually.

I’m getting tired of all these Day -8 patches.

Awesome. I look forward to finally having a reason to pick up those damn noisy spheres

That’s one thing I like about Starfield, you can hoard so much useless junk! Overencumberance only means you have to take short walking breaks as you otherwise run to your ship which holds a shit load more than you, then once it’s full you space teleport to your various outposts each with dozens of chests.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 - Extended Gameplay Reveal (www.youtube.com)

You know how in the early 2000s, a lot of PC games got sequels on consoles, and players complained that they removed complexity from the game to make it work on consoles? This feels like that. I don't see anything here about quests, skills, character sheets, or different ways to solve problems depending on your character's...

I don’t go deep into role play stuff. My character is a character, not me. In games where it’s “pick a man or a woman” only I’ll tend to pick women because the voice actors are often better and you can better “play barbie” with character customization, plus of course the cliche reason.

With games that allow full customization I’ll often make androgynous/non-binary characters with various dials at either extreme trying to break the character builder.

Oh thanks for the reminder, I hadn’t opened epic so I can scroll down to the free games banner in a while.

We’re in the phase of the meme where use is broadened more and more until it ceases to have any connection to its origins.

A billion dollar company doesn’t count as indie anymore? What is the world coming to, next you’ll say corporations aren’t people too.

key,

Even their Experimental Gameplay games from before WoG and Tomorrow Corporation are worth playing if you can find them. That includes Tower of Goo of course but I remember there being a lot of fun ones back in the day.

I’m going to go with 1 year for every 2 years since 1970. So 10 years for a game released in 1990, 26 years for a game released this year.

Hey now factorio isn’t complex, just play it a lot and you’ll pick it up… I’m 2000 hours in and managed to finish a game in only 70 hours! I’m thiiiiis close to making train lines without constant crashes. Pretty soon I’ll feel ready to add in Bob’s mods to the mix. It’s… Simple…

What did that wood chest do to you?

key,

Yes and no. The “win” condition is building and launching a rocket to space. There’s minimal additional content after that but it doesn’t stop you from playing. You can always just keep building and improving your factory to keep launching rockets faster and faster. The developer is working on an extension where you keep playing on different planets and in space so pretty soon it’ll take even longer to “win”.

The whole game is to not manually mine/smelt/forge.

In case you didn’t see already, Portia has a sequel that’s at very late stage early access.

The whole pantheon of Factory games fill a similar itch like some others have mentioned.

I’ve very recently started playing Dinkum which is a bit more Portia/Stardew/Animal Crossing like, with running around to harvest and mine then crafting and selling to buy things to build your island.

A bit less purely crafting but a good game with similar spirit is Graveyard Keeper.

Some of the survival games have decent crafting mechanics. Like 7 days to die you can turn down the zombie part and spend some hours running around and getting material to build a base and fix vehicles and stuff. Also Raft and Volcanoids are some other crafty survival game.
