What is a really fun gameplay mechanic or experience you had/have while playing an underated, unknown game? Or a game that might be known but not known for having fun in the way you do with it....
That sounds like no one really tried. Like, sure, you’ll get bullshit occasionally, but in the code you know exactly what the NPC is doing, so crafting a prompt based on that is not really that hard and will work most of the time, especially for the simple NPCs.
Today’s game is Ocarina of Time. I finished my 10th something playthrough today and even fought Ganondorf off with a bottle. I know i already chose a picture of the Master Sword for a screenshot, but this really feels like an appropriate screenshot to end off on for one of my favorite games of all time....
Critics like her say the very term “gold digger” reeks of misogyny.
No, the term itself doesn’t imply gender at all.
Anyway, I never really saw the problem with gold diggers, it’s a relationship like any other - you give your partner something they need and the partner gives you something you need.
So what if one of the parties needs money and the other a young woman to feel better? If there’s no coercion and no actual scamming, I don’t see the problem.
Because the games are intentionally made with micro transactions as the main feature.
Like, if you play Witcher or Control or whatever, the focus is on you enjoying the game. If you play Fortnite, the main focus is on getting you pay. The game is probably still fun, but every single thing in the game is meant to make you pay.
Ah, the classic “world hunger is a myth, I have eaten today.”
I’m not saying there are not the rare gems in mobile games (just bought Don’t Starve on Android last month!), but like 99% of games for mobile are just s money making scheme using dark patterns to influence your brain to give them money.
And congrats on not spending on micro transactions! You do realize the world doesn’t revolve around how your perceive things, right? If young people are exposed to micro transactions like that, it alters their brains and not in a good way. And that’s science, there really isn’t much you can argue with.
So because you do it correctly, everyone else should get fucked or what? Like, you know how many people have bad parents?
So, congrats, your kids won’t suffer from that (or maybe they will once they have their own money because the path way of “spend a $1, get an in-game item, get an instant rush of feel-good hormones” is forming even with moderation). But other kids may, unless of course you think that it’s somehow their fault they have shitty parents.
So no, I really don’t want this around kids whose lives will be ruined just so your kids can have a fun time (which they can have in other ways, including other games).
I thought of this post entirely because I have the Pokémon Center theme from Pokémon HeartGold SoulSilver stuck in my head, and it has wriggled in over and over for months despite me hearing and actively making other music.
J2ME are old dumb non-touchscreen phones. My last one was Sony Ericsson j108i. And just now reading the Wikipedia entry, it was actually the last non-smartphone phone by Sony Ericsson! Nice.
Damn, the nostalgia is real. And the design still looks much better than smartphones which look pretty much all the same. Back then, phones had personality.
The Sony Ericsson phones in particular had very advanced J2ME support that I didn’t see that much difference between that and my first smartphone (Nokia C5-03). Not that there weren’t differences, the smartphone was definitely more advanced, but it wasn’t that huge of a leap.
Nope, it doesn’t have a controller built-in and its main purpose isn’t gaming. You can’t run PS games on a Switch, does that somehow magically make either not a console?
It's such an overcrowded genre isn't it? I mean it's ridiculous how many top down games there are out there... I've played so many now, they just blend into each other....
Today’s game is Palworld. I completely forgot i even had this game until today. I think one of...
I finally figured out how to move my files over from my Steam Deck to my new PC, and moved my Skyrim Modpack over, though i wouldn’t be surprised if the cursor in the center gave it away for anyone. I decided to give it a test to make sure everything still worked after downgrading it....
What did you use? I usually use Syncthing to get my files onto/from the Deck. I also use it to sync my mods, that way I have the same experience whether I turn on the PC or the Deck.
Is there anyone else still playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 like me? Even though it’s an old game, I never get tired of it. The new games like Pennon and Battle, Songs of Conquest, which have similar gameplay to HoMM3 are also nice for me. It’s my favorite in the HoMM series....
Happy new year guys!😀 Just now, it hit midnight here, and it’s officially 2025. I was playing Pennon and Battle, and I realized it’s the last game I played in 2024!! That gave it a different kind of meaning. Now I’m curious, what was the last game you played in 2024?
Well, really depends on your definition of interesting. Or what exactly you think is interesting about the news. The information itself might be interesting, but the console is anything but interesting.
The DNS provider (who is not necessarily also a registrar, but it’s common that the registrar is also a provider) doesn’t have any option to disable individual pages. They can only disable a whole subdomain or domain.
The server provider technically could, but it’s much harder because the site is served on https, so they would most likely have to disable the whole server as well.
Not that the server provider was asked, it’s just to illustrate that no one but the service owner (itch.io) can meaningfully block a single page. Asking the infrastructure providers is a dick move.
Edit: So the server provider was asked as well, but they’re not as incompetent it seems. Also, instead of a copyright abuse, BrandShield falsely sent this as a fraud and phishing, which is another dick move.
So yeah, the DNS provider is incompetent, but BrandShield is the malicious actor here.
I mean, smaller company is also a smaller impact and much faster decisions. If it happened to one of my small clients, it would be resolved within 20 minutes. If it would happen to my largest client, it would take hours if everyone in the decision chain suddenly turned competent and people with access to various stuff would all be available, which they probably wouldn’t, so realistically we’re talking days (assuming the DNS provider doesn’t restore it beforehand).
I need some suggestions on what to play. Single Player games only. Most of the games make me feel lonely and alone. In most of the games, the protagonist has to deal with the problems on their own, like Control, Crysis, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War (I liked the original 6 more than the new ones, even though the new ones had...
I’m really frustrated with how almost every new game these days is being forced into this “live service” model. The game is No Man’s Sky. I have been searching off and on for the new Floating Islands added in the newest updates. I found this cool planet. I’m in love with its orange hue and ended up making a base there.

Dude, I just don’t like it. The game just wasn’t fun for me. The game’s not my cup of tea. It’s not a hard concept. Also, you kinda move the goal post a bit.
I mean, what if I don’t get good after two hours? Will you refund it? Or will I be stuck with a game I suck at that cost $50 or $60 (or however much that was)? Look, I never was good at gaming. Everything I play is on easy or normal. I’m glad most developers keep gamers like me in mind. And as far as I understand, being hard is part of what makes Elden Ring entertaining, which pretty much makes it the opposite for me.
And pretending that everyone is (or can be) as good as everyone else at everything does not make much sense.
