Dragon Age: Inquisition. You also mentioned you loved Witcher 3, the game is similar in gameplay.

You may also want to start with Dragon Age: Origins, but starting with Inquisition is fine, though you’ll miss some references.

Hi there fellow Czech! Where do you usually pirate stuff?

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

A shame, though. I remember them saying there will be more DLCs. To be fair, in their first teaser they said they’ll release when it’s ready which they also failed to do.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Yep, that’s what I hope for as well. Witcher 3 is a masterpiece to this day. I’m curious about what the Witcher 1 remaster will look like. I recently made the original work with a controller on my Steam Deck and it feels very nostalgic.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Not sure where you’ve got it bought, but I pretty much installed it using Heroic (I have it on GOG), then added it to Steam as a non-Steam game (with Heroic it’s a one click operation) and then simply found a Steam Input config that works well. I can check the config name if you want.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Yep, I never heard about it before.

In its first week, Immortals of Aveum had a peak count of just 751 players on Steam. (steamdb.info) angielski

After 5 years in development and heavily pushing Unreal Engine 5 technologies, Immortals of Aveum was met with a whopping 751 player peak. For reference, Forspoken was considered a flop but still had over 12,000 players peak total. This may be the biggest flop of the year.

@ChatGPT come up with 10 names for a generic cheap micro transaction ridden game on the App Store, in the vein of Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Royal Revolt, etc.

Finally got the time to play Timberborn. Made some suboptimal decisions so can’t wait for playing on a new map.

Those files can be found by googling, no one here is likely to share them because sharing them is illegal.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

In my jurisdiction downloading pirated stuff is perfectly legal. It’s only illegal when you’re distributing it. And even for jurisdictions where it’s not legal even to download pirated stuff, companies don’t much care about people who download, but only those who upload and as far as I know, you can discuss pirating all you want and nothing’s illegal.

Can only help with the last point - Nvidia Shield is a beast. I have two of the 2019 Pro and they’re just great, nothing comes even close. I’ve also had the 2017 version and it was great as well. Can’t speak for the base model, haven’t had a chance to try.

Witcher 3. The scenery there is just beautiful. And you get your first beautiful scenery pretty much immediately in the tutorial, just go to the balcony in your room and look.

As a long time Plex uset who loves the ease of use of Plex, is it for me? Also there probably aren’t apps on that many devices? My main concern is Android TV and the Tizen thing by Samsung.

90% of the time Steam games do have DRM. Especially the AAA titles.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

How the fuck are they allowed to do that?

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

That’s not surprising, I was asking how does the law allow them to do so.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Detachable controllers is something I miss on the Steam Deck. At the same time, I don’t feel like having Windows on it, I have Linux on everything, including my phone, so unless SteamOS is officially supported, I won’t buy. Valve should hurry and release SteamOS as an installable image.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

I have SailfishOS on my phone.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Not really, it uses a patched Linux kernel. Nothing else of the Linux ecosystem is present.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

There’s this thing where they pretend they actually do it to be first and not because they want people to download their cracks. And that’s how you get the crazy talk where they pretend they’re pro-DRM.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

They like to pretend so.

Steam Deck VS rivals

I was interested in buying a Steam Deck… Until I discovered all the (apparently) better alternatives. Asus Rog Ally, OneXPlayer, Aya Neo etc… I like the idea of an handheld console and obviously I would like to have a device that can run almost everything, so the Windows based handhelds seem better than the Steam Deck. Is it...

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Screen is not the best, but everything else is superior. SteamOS is much better than Windows, IMO. Though I don’t play multiplayer games and I’ve read some anticheats don’t run on Linux. The only multiplayer game I play from time to time is Fall Guys and it works. Emulators are actually where Linux shines and especially Steam Deck - there’s an app called EmuDeck that sets up all the emulators you could think of and makes it work really easily. For Epic and GOG games I use Heroic Games Launcher and it works well, I played Spider-Man and Fall Guys from Epic and most of my library is on GOG.

What are some game genres / styles you like that aren't being made anymore, or are being mde but not very often? angielski

For me it’s first person puzzle games. I can think of maybe a dozen off the top of my head that came out in the last decade. I especially enjoy when they’re open world. The ability to just quit a puzzle that’s stumped you and go try something else for a little bit is incredibly refreshing.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Basically Telltale games. I include first Life is Strange in that because they managed to out-Telltale the Telltale. I love my games basically as an interactive story.

Edit: Also Heroes of Might & Magic. I want more good ones, 6 & 7 sucked tremendously.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Play them in order. And if you love the lore, there are also books.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

For me it’s about the story, I basically only play games that have an interesting story (and some Vampire Survivors here and there). So I don’t care for challenge or progress.

What type of game do you want to play that doesn't really exist?

Have you ever played a game and wondered what if you could do something that it doesn’t really allow you to do, for example being able to move around blocks in Minecraft fluidly instead of in sectors, edit the world in Hogwarts legacy with spells, be able to fly in a world like Elden Ring or Elder Scrolls with epic sky...

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

Witcher magic, you literally have access to exactly five “spells”.
