Katana314, do games w A Tekken 8 streamer spent almost a week using a one-button mashing bot to prove that Eddy Gordo is as big a menace as ever

There’s a Smash Bros mechanic called Stale Moves where repeating the same move many times causes it to deal less damage. It feels like a worthwhile topic to delve on for more interesting fights, but given the way knockback works there could be a better target than just damage adjustment.

I haven’t played Tekken since 3, but Eddy is one of the few characters I remember and he was unstoppable back then too. I just realised he certainly would have unconsciously been my inspiration for getting into Capoeira years later. Godspeed, Mr Gordo.

I watched the clip in the article, is that slow-mo and zooming part of the game by default? That’s unbearable, it’s worse than a Zack Snyder movie.

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

Slow mo and zoom only happens in Tekken 7 and 8 when each opponent has a move coming out that could potentially end the round.

Ah that makes more sense. I thought it was doing that throughout the match which would be a nightmare.

Ballistic_86, do gaming w Don't say Manor Lords was made by a 'solo developer,' argues competing city builder maker: 'The team size on it is maybe even larger than ours'

I’m really loving Manor Lords but my first “good” playthrough is coming to an end and I’ll take a break until more content is added. Once you learn all of the game mechanics, building a thriving economy is really easy.

I picked up the game for $30, it will keep getting better, and some day I’ll have an amazing game that I got for pretty cheap. This isn’t my first early-access experience, and most of the games I’ve gotten have been a success. Subnautica, Oxygen Not Included, The Forest, Astroneers. Im sure there are more on that list, just a few off the top of my head.

I don’t much care about the semantics. It isn’t just one person making the game, but it is one persons vision and it is a good one.

What a dystopian world we live on where my 32 thread CPU with 8 channels of 64GB RAM is “obsolete” for Windows 11, because it lacks a fucking TPM of all things.

slazer2au,

Blessings in disguise.

The TPM is a feature of the motherboard, not the CPU (generally).

You can even get separate TPM modules to plug into your MoBo, if I’m not mistaken.

I’m starting to think the problem is their marketing department because I have no idea. Why are there so many conflicting stories?

Nobody better talk shit about Crate thanks to headlines like this that don’t clarify until you are 2/3 of the way down the article. Crate and Larian restored my faith in game development.

They are now trying to standardize reference to “review bombing” to try to frame it some nefarious and coordinated “campaign” instead of what it is… A bunch of actual people pissed off at your recent bullshit and responding in real time to express that disappointment and frustration.

Direct consequences of your actions.

It highlights the crucial flaw with Tekken for me: you have to just memorize how to defend everything your opponents can do to you rather than being able to intuit it on the fly. Which moves hit high/medium/low/overhead or track horizontally? There’s no language to it; it’s just done on a per move basis for balancing reasons, which means it would take me forever to get to the part where I actually get to think and play the game. This string, mashing 3, has highs, mediums, and lows all built in, plus it low profiles some counter attacks from opponents. This bot would beat me, too.

The bar should be a little higher than “we haven’t bricked anyone’s system (that we know of) (so far)”

Maybe they could join together and write an opensource Kerbal Space Program 2?

that overpriced, buggy, and incomplete mess wasn’t already getting bad reviews?

kbin_space_program,

It was, now Take two can claim its just review bombing and the game is fine.

joelfromaus,
@joelfromaus@aussie.zone avatar

Funny enough some of the most recent reviews have been somewhat positive because of the amount of progress that they have made on the development of the game. If the game were allowed to be developed to full completion, it might be a well received game (Despite the price). Instead they’ve canned it, which is just a disgusting show of business over customers as well as being disappointing for a KSP fan.

“Excellent Fallout series”

lol feck off

TheDarksteel94,

Do you think it’s bad? I’ve only heard good things about it 🤔

ThatWeirdGuy1001,
@ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world avatar

It changed a few small details like how becoming a ghoul works but other than that it’s really good.

Zahille7,

Nah, it’s good. Don’t listen to the salty “fanboys.”

There are literally like two discrepancies, but it’s really not a huge deal imo.

theonyltruemupf,

It’s as excellent as a live action adaptation can be.

AceQuorthon,

The Fallout fandom can be divided into two camps, Fallout fans and Bethesda fans. I don’t like Bethesda Fallout and from the little I watched of the show it wasn’t anything for me. 5/10 at best. I don’t care about ”the lore” or any discrepancies, I just thought it wasn’t very good.

Zahille7,

Lol shut up.

TheDarksteel94,

Ah, so it’s more like the vibe of it for you, I guess? I kinda get that.

I should be surprised that a bunch of nerds are fixing game-breaking updates in their spare time that were created by a multi-billion dollar corporation, but I’m not, at all.

Carighan,
@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

Plus, this is Bethesda, and in particular their open world games. They have always been shit the fans had to fix if they wanted to play it, as the foundation was solid but the company didn’t do any actual development.

ICastFist,

When Bethesda began re-releasing Skyrim without ever fixing any of the many, many, MANY bugs, was when I realized they really don’t give a shit about quality. Unofficial Skyrim Patch has over a thousand bugs that haven’t been fixed by Bethesda, some as old as the original release.

ZombiFrancis,

This has been the gaming industry since the internet.

Back when gaming was still considered a niche pastime or just toys for kids, and the developers weren’t multi-billion corporations, the dynamic was one of a mutual love of the product.

That was like, barely a generation ago.

I’m on PC and I haven’t noticed anything changed. Literally. I don’t notice any bugs nor have I noticed a sudden improvement of my graphics. It seems to me that the 15gb that Steam downloaded, was just full of 0’s and don’t do anything.

Edit: Nevermind, apparently the new quests and items are part of the update, so in that case I have definitely noticed something lol.

changingfmh,

The primary issue on PC is that it broken F4SE, breaking a large number of mods and delaying Fallout London, a mod they poached developers from.

That, and loading times in some areas are suddenly a minute long.

Fredy1422,

yep, and im still waiting for the dev to update it (tediously painful he says.)

VindictiveJudge,
@VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world avatar

Every update breaks F4SE. Same with SKSE. Just wait a few days and it’ll be fine.
