Yeah there’s “CEO resigns over sexual misconduct allegations of groping” and “Executive denies sexual misconduct, 13 women have come forward”
But this, what tf did these guys do?! Damn!
Edit: Fucking Christ
"…and after apologizing for that initial behavior over a year later, how he then groped and raped her at an industry event. They claim Gbinigie asked them to meet him and some friends in a hotel lobby ahead of a PAX industry party. Gbinigie, however, arrived alone, and asked if they wanted to head to his friends’ room, where the rest of the group was apparently waiting. After brushing aside a “feeling of panic” and following Gbinigie to the room, they saw there was no one else in the room.
“I’m still not ready to relive the intimate details publicly, but that’s when he forced himself on me. It wasn’t the longest experience as, as he said at the time, his friends were expecting us - but it was enough for him to get out of me what he’d clearly wanted from the start, and to put me in my place,” they wrote.
“It’s taken a long time and a lot of therapy to stop listening to words that are burned into my brain - ‘you should be grateful’ - to forgive myself for the fact that at a certain point I stopped fighting him, and to try to be okay as I can be with the fact that my first experience with sex at all was rape. It wasn’t the longest experience, but it was enough to still fuck me up to this day”
My employer after they let me go wanted me sign a contract saying I absolve them and all their associates of everything from the begining of time. yes it actually said from the begining of time.
I had an employer (wrongfully) terminate me and they wanted me to sign a similar thing. I asked if I could just… not. My (very cool, forced to do this) manager said “absolutely.” I didn’t sign it. I applied for unemployment. Started getting free money.
They fought it. I had a conference call with a judge and that same manager. I was shaking. The judge asked “MANAGER, did you have any reason to suspect that Rai did the thing they’re accused of doing?”
“Nope.”
End of call.
Thank you for the year of playing TF2 for 40 hours a week, dope-ass manager.
So the begininig of time was the one part but it also had this paragraph that listed all associates and went on for awhile. It had things like all stock holders and the company is owned by a holding company so all associates they way they listed could conceivably be practically everyone. Anyone who through all of time owned any company stock that the holding company had or had owned it or since its the begining of time any predicessor of it. Lastly it did not limit the scope to my work at the company. I talked with a lawyer and it did technically have the capacity of disallowing lawsuits for anyone for any reason. Case in point is a doctor fucks up a surgery on my wife and it later comes out he was drunk but he owned stock in a company that was bought by the holding company.
That is not an NDA at all then! A very different contract and you are absolutely right to refuse signing it. The company is totally acting outside of a normal legal practice, worth suing.
oh im sorry. I did not mean to say its an nda like in the story just an effed up contract. It was what they wanted me to sign to get my severance. As I said second time I have had to leave the money on the table.
Yeah I go through all the contracts and paperwork and I am never wild about any of them but this is one of two types of things I refused to sign despite losing a fair sum with them. I totally get people signing them though as its a tough loss to deal with. There needs to be laws around reasonableness of contracts.
At least in the EU there are rules about contracts and how they need to be understandable. Companies are not allowed to just hire a lawyer who’s going to latinize everything simply to make it as impenetrable as possible.
Of course lawyers still use 16 words where one would do but it results in documents that are more rambly than incomprehensible.
Exactly. Your game is bad if I have to look up how to do something as simple as equip a weapon. Your game is bad if I have to run around like an idiot for 15+ minutes after every death before having the chance of doing something enjoyable again.
As someone that played star citizen and enjoyed the gameplay very much, this game has been basically ruined by greed for years now. They basically discourage playing the actual game with these practices. Sure, you can work your ass off and make a butt load of money to buy a bunch of cool guns, armor, and ships, but as soon as they do a server wipe, which they do fairly regularly, most if not all of it will get wiped clean. But if you give them real money you get to keep everything after a server wipe.
I even had a friend where his ship, bought with in game currency, glitched and he was able to keep it several updates later with no issue while mine disappeared. We both bought them with in game currencies at about the same time. Mine disappeared as soon as the update came out and he had it for almost two years! To me that sounds like it’s intentional and they could totally get away with letting you keep your stuff but they choose not to.
And look, I’ve played early access games before and I’m used to playing games that do a server wipe every once in a while or saves being incompatible with the new version, but I’m talking every update and multiple times a year. It makes it so the only sense of progress you feel is when you buy a ship with real money so you can still have it on the next update. It’s a very exhausting game.
Id that even Dune? The stuff they’re wearing and the setting they are in does not look like the dune that’s shown in trailers… For one they’re are trees and no sand
multi-blockchain ‘virtual town hall of engagement opportunities’
Wow, this single phrase managed to make me puke a bit inside my mouth three times - might be a new record…
“Those of us in Web3 gaming are well aware that things aren’t working, but few seem to want to buck the status quo trend because the road less traveled isn’t for the feint at heart; it’s for pioneers and those who dare to defy,” Smart concludes. “And so, here I am, once again at the cusp of one of my greatest challenges, and what I believe to be my last hoorah, if you will.”
Those of us in Web3 gaming are well aware that things aren’t working
You can stop there. That’s because so-called “web3 gaming” solves a problem that only exists in the mind of the dozen vocal idiots that want it to happen. And that problem is mostly “I don’t really like video games, but I would play if that game was just about thinly veiled real money transactions instead”.
It seems to be MMO in a way I am interested, where you can basically play it solo and not be forced to play against or with other players. Kinda like Minecraft survival servers (with PvP optional), Rust, Once Human etc.
The episodic rollout of SQ42 is presumed to be a way to inject new cash into the studio alongside reported plans to release higher priced ships and the rumored third game.
What?.. Higher priced ships? You’ve got to be joking…
One of my favorite ships in the game, the Drake Corsair, is already $250. It’s a great all-rounder, but it’s not even a large ship comparitively! And they’re going to start charging more for the newer ships?!
They just released a new ship as well, the RSI Zeus MKII, which is yet another $175. And that doesn’t even mention some of the larger ships like the Anvil Carrack, sitting at an insane $600, and the Origin 890 Jump at $950…
And if that’s not bad enough, they’ve had concept ships for years available for purchase in the $1,500-$2,000 range. How can these ships get more expensive?
For me it wasn’t about the leveling or end game content. It was the engagement - you had to interact with other players, negatively or positively, to truly progress. Then they added dungeon finder and for all I know the other four players could be bots for all the engagement you get.
