Etterra, do games w Starfield is Bethesda's Least Buggiest Game to Date, Say Sources

That’s not much of a brag. Just because the monsters in this game won’t mysteriously fly off into space only to reappear right behind you seconds later, doesn’t mean we should celebrate.

pgx,

no, no, no

you see this is a space game, they are supposed to fly off into space in this one

FEATURE

Trihilis,

It’s not a brag, period. Not having a buttload of bugs should be the bare minimum every game should strive for. It’s like saying “we sell the least rotten food in town”.

Its pretty sad that we’ve gone from “most epic adventure” and “largest open world you’ve seen” to “least buggiest game”

Nonetheless, I’ve enjoyed most Bethesda games and I have gamepass on pc and will definitely try the game.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

I mean even Skyrim ran pretty nice, till you started playing it long enough to start finding the bugs and jank. Of course, it helped that it had all the familiar jank from the previous games.

Katana314, do games w MindsEye Becomes 2025’s Worst-Rated Game As Reviews Creep In

I know “worst” is an adjective that triggers a lot of content farms, but I still feel bad about these situations. Even the worst games, when they manage to be completed, are mountains of effort from the people involved; and as I understand it this was coming from one of IOI’s first publishing efforts.

Mikelius, do games w Ubisoft Accused of 'Secret Data Collection' in Single-Player Games

I also wouldn’t consider this a secret…

I found years ago that if you block ubi.com and ubisoft.com (if you have a self hosted DNS or a way to block domains on a network), and any other sub domains you might spot, the games work fine. They just take like a full minute to load while they try their best to hit the servers. So yeah I’ve never agreed to the TOS for a few games as a result.

Needles to say, you’ll need these domains unblocked to play multiplayer.

No thank you. Got rid of my Switch and got a Steam deck years ago. Much better.

callouscomic, do games w EXCLUSIVE - Ubisoft Wants to Change the 'Far Cry Formula' with Far Cry 7 and Maverick

Bring back Far Cry 2 you cowards!

You set out to accomplish something and everything goes wrong.

Also Far Cry 5 is the worst entry, overrated, and Far Cry 6 is overhated.

intensely_human,

I bought Far Cry 2 for $5 at a Blockbuster going out of business. Didn’t play it for about a month, when I gave it to a friend who had a playstation.

We didn’t expect the absolute masterpiece.

Series stopped being fun for me after 3

“Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact same fucking thing over and over again, expecting shit to change. That is crazy.”

Eyck_of_denesle,

Far cry 4 and primal are my favs in the series. They are excellent.

Pregnenolone,

Yeah I agree with you. FC4 was easily my favourite, Primal was pretty good, but in fairness felt slower than 4

DoucheBagMcSwag,

Besides the endings of 4 I liked it.

Sad that the crab Rangoon ending is really the best one which can be achieved in less than 10 minutes

Shiggles,

3 was great, 4’s biggest improvement was functional multiplayer. I have core memories of hunting every animal that moved from the side of a gyrocopter piloted poorly by a very inebriated bud.

Bianca_0089, (edited ) do games w Steam Is Run By Fewer Than 80 Staff, Lawsuit Docs Reveal

Of course there’s a fee. Do they not realize how expensive it is to fileserve useless videogame data, provide versioning for that, updater systems, workshop storage, curation, promotion etc etc. . . without help?

Is there not a fee for your competing storefront? How would it fund its daily operations?

cordlesslamp,

The workshop alone is already a godsend (from Lord Gaben).

There are decade old games with hundreds of thousands of mods, who’s paying for all the hosting?

Has anyone tried Epic Store? It has nothing but the most barebone features to purchase a game, literally just a glorified launcher.

TwilightVulpine,

Right? Steam provides better service and functionality than any other PC storefront. It’s ridiculous that there’s so much whining about them charging for it. So what if it’s a higher percentage? It’s also a better service and a large audience. Whoever doesn’t like it is free to go elsewhere, unlike console games that can only be sold though the manufacturer’s store.

cordlesslamp,

If any digital game store deserved to be sue, it’s Nintendo hand down. That’s the real monopoly store with a “fuck you because we can” attitude.

kamenoko, do games w Steam Is Run By Fewer Than 80 Staff, Lawsuit Docs Reveal

I mean that’s awesome.

Ultimately they’re only responsible for the steam client and the servers.

@KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml avatar

Probably for the best. Watch Dogs 2 was a weird tonal shift.

BowtiesAreCool,

Watch Dogs 2 was the only one I actually enjoyed playing.

TIMMAY,

agreed, one felt like an edgy young adult book you’d find on a shelf at the public library. Two had a lot of attitude and style and I loved it

all-knight-party,
@all-knight-party@kbin.run avatar

Agreed. The first one was a tonal flatline for me.

Son_of_dad,

Hated the main character. The guy in part 1 was a vigilante out for blood. But the second, you’re some millennial, happy, hipster hacker. It makes no sense running around the city tearing shit up with the second protagonist

It goes without saying, but don’t commit crime, and certainly learn from your mistakes if you do.

Toribor,

Commit crimes in a smart way that doesn’t hurt other people. Don’t brag about your crimes publicly and don’t publicly announce that you’re going to commit more crimes after you’ve already been caught.

Freedom lies in the gray area between what is permitted and what is forbidden. Laws exist for a reason but there’s no sense in being a dumbass about it.

Well yeah, this game doesn’t have buckets. So that’s helped.

Shame these companies don't support projects like these. Like they are ever going to remaster it themselves anyway and I doubt it would be that popular. Would be free PR for them.

SolidShake, do games w Avowed Director Leaves Obsidian For Netflix Games

Lol why?

💰💰💰💰

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

Happens all the time. Netflix is moneyhatting, promises someone who knows how to do the job a great salary to do it for them instead.

NuXCOM_90Percent,

Big sack of cash and a good mark on her CV. And Obsidian has been kind of a clusterfuck the past few years with Avowed having been more or less restarted from scratch like three times?

Netflix games is a sinking ship but so is… a lot of the games industry. Whereas working as a creative at Netflix is potentially a way to pivot out and away from games entirely. Carrie is also a writer (I think self published?) so that is a further way to seem like someone who can transition to a different department.
