Oh so that’s how you’re supposed to run a prison. My usual strategy of throwing 20 armed guards in a hallway and having a “open room concept” morgue and hospital needs updating it seems
The whole triss vs yen thing was lazy fanservice added by CDPR. If you read the books, it’s clear Geralt is destined to be with Yen. The books make this abundantly clear. It also makes it crystal clear that Geralt thinks of Triss like a little sister, not romantically. There was absolutely no reason to have that in the book. It’s straight up stupid fanservice and made the game into kind of a meme in my opinion.
I really don’t care about the book. If anything his relationship with Yen feels like pondering to the book audience without much of a setup or explanation in-game
I mean… The game has numerous book references. It expects you to have read then. Half the characters and references are from the books. So not sure why it’s the yen part that specifically bugs you :-)
As far as I understand the games aren’t book cannon right? Then let the books not be game cannon. It is unreasonable for the books to be required reading between witcher 2 and 3 or even to expect the audience to know to read them.
A never before seen character from the books showing up in the game doesn’t bother me because they’re new and they’re explored as if they’re new characters. Yen bugs me because she’s a new character to me but as soon as they meet in Skelliga, her and Geralt get back together as if nothing has changed since the books. On the other hand Triss is an established character who has a history with Geralt that I know of, but now both are giving each other the cold shoulder without explanation.
In terms of Triss and Yen the books don’t give context to the status quo. They become the status quo.
The books are canon for the games, yes. The games are not canon. Idk what else to say. I played W2 and 3 originally without having read the books. It didn’t seem weird in W3 because W2 was spent looking for her the entire game. And it gave clues about their history. After having read the books W3 makes even more sense since I understood more about the characters. There is nothing unreasonable about how they did that game. The game is totally fine without having read the books. But I am telling you that it makes more sense if you did.
Witcher 2 was spent looking for Triss not Yennefer.
The books are canon for the games, yes
And I said maybe they shouldn’t be because warping the game story to fit the books is what I’m complaining about in the first place.
If you were fine with how w3 handled Yen before reading the books good for you. But it was not at all clear for me and that’s all I said. Sorry for being brash but it is obnoxious to then get comments preaching about how Yennefer is objectively right for Geralt and Triss is just fan service and the game itself favoring Yen would make sense if only I were to read the books
Witcher 2. The game. Assasins of kings. Letho captures Triss at the end of act 1 to get away and Geralt can recue her on act 3. Yennefer is only ever mentioned in name. Please look things up before condescending
Bruh yennefer is mentioned multiple times. You’re also looking for her. What I’m saying is not wrong. I’m gonna stop responding to you because you seem to clearly have no desire to engage in good faith conversation. I was not being condescending . You’re clearly looking to pick a fight. Goodbye.
They are pursuing “realism” but the pursuit of realism also means that you must sacrifice strong artistic style, because style is - by very definition - deviation from realism.
Early Overwatch was great. Then some updates made it better. The only things wrong with it were design choices that were made for financial reasons. Then they made it much worse. Then they made it worse. And worse. And then they made 2, which turned it into just another ‘left-click on the target’ game, because those make more money. It saddens me that it died.
I liked 6v6, they should’ve made more tanks and healers.
I didn’t like role queue, sure it’s a strong team buildup but I don’t think it should’ve been forced. I really liked being able to flex between classes depending on what was needed. Sometimes five DPS and a healer will break through a point. Being a tank or healer with bad DPS makes an already limited role even worse.
Ow2 seems like they just trashed my game ($60aud) and added MTX.
I can’t get into marvel rivals, the time to kill seems too low, Overwatch was a bit more lethal.
Agreed. Role queue was dumb. I liked having the ability to look at how things have been going and say ‘They’re doing X. I’ll swap to this character and screw up their plans.’ The thing I loved most about OW was that it wasn’t locked into the left click first competition. Their Widow is causing trouble? Lucio>wall climb>drop in>boop them out of their safety bubble and get them shredded. Distract them behind a shield to the left so someone on the right can sneak up on them. Or go Sombra and do an invis run/tele to magdump into their head at point blank. Or go monkey and pig meatwall to get close enough to ruin her day. Whatever. Just something with more intelligence than left-click and die repeatedly.
I miss Mayhem too. People complained that it took too long to die/kill but that was what was amazing about it. How many games can you say have ever felt like you were in an epic fight where every thrust, parry, twist, duck, and swing mattered? Where you don’t win by the luck of a single shot but have to tactically manipulate enemy attention so you can change the angle of attack so it favors your healer over their Junkrat? Battles won or lost by the timing and precision placement of a Zarya hole catching the targets thrown by a Lucio boop to hold them just off the payload just long enough to get to the next checkpoint?
No, seriously, give Rivals a chance. It’s free so you have nothing to lose.
Two of the original OW developers were heavily involved in its development, so the game feels just like OW did back in 2016. Trust me, you won’t miss Overwatch 2 once you get used to it.
I was on the same boat as you forever. I came back to ow2 late last year. I’ll say this. OW feels better than it ever has. Very balanced and very fair, while maintaining that very chaotic and energized feeling. They added tiered perks which really break up the monotony of the game, and also brought back loot boxes.
It feels like they realized the game became stagnant, and they’re doing as much as they can to bring it back to peak, and past that.
They also are bringing back 'classic overwatch", and I’ll say this… After you play classic and go back to regular you can feel the difference. The only thing I miss is 6v6 but it seems like that’s coming back soon too
Play Marvel Rivals now while it’s still fun. It’s free.
It plays just like 2016 Overwatch did, because it was made by some of the original OW devs. The same ones who left because they were tired of all the fun metas being made boring to please the hardcore players who have no life outside of video games. That isn’t an issue with Rivals yet. Enjoy it while you still can.
I bought a Miyoo Mini Plus two years ago and liked it so much I wish I'd bought a more expensive model with analog sticks. I keep looking at all the shiny new stuff on the market and feeling the temptation to upgrade, but holding off because something better is always around the corner.
Well, guess I no longer have to worry about temptation now.
Just about. People are expecting miyoo and some of the other companies to follow in a bit. Theres some American stock still in Amazon warehouses, but thats basically it.
It takes 3 weeks to get over here via boat so im thinking we will see more and more cancellations with various shipments in the next coming weeks.
Totally fair gripe, and I have the same one with choice trees in most games. I don’t mind little stuff that doesn’t affect the longer game, but holy shit, if choice A or B is going to wildly change the outcome of the game / who I’m dating / if a character lives or dies / etc, either make it super obvious or flat out tell me! I’d LOVE to have a little info icon next to dialog choices that would say “FYI if you choose this option you’re straight up rejecting any future romance with this char” or something. Immersion breaking? who cares! so is save scumming and a ton of other game mechanics. It’s all for fun anyway, I’d rather know what I’m doing and not waste time.
Stuff like this is why I’m struggling to get back into cyberpunk
I love the game but I feel like every decision has some far reaching consequence which is nice that my choices matter but please tell me about this gameplay altering descion
