I’m just here looking for brief connections with people over common interests.

My username would suggest I’m a bigger Harry Potter fan than I actually am. I saw a dumbledore meme with outwards-crossed-eyes that I think may have even said dumblederp.

I still appreciate some light trolling/jokes.

Killing floor 1/2, fps zombie horde killing.

Another doot for Remnant, really enjoyed the odd universe and two player coop.

Battlefront 2 multi player for mindless star wars pew pew fun.

Hasn’t someone already suggested L4D2? I only played the first and was pretty offended when they promptly released the second and expected me to pay for it. They did eventually turn around and give it away but IIRC it was under a year from release and they expected me to buy a whole other game.

My Helldivers gripe is that the war bonds cost too much for the casual player. 1000 super credits takes a while to gather, and even grind. Paying actual money for them is about $25aud per war bond. I think there’s eight war bonds now? That’s a full day’s income, and you still need to collect medals to unlock the contents of the warbond.

Edit: You all don’t need to explain this to me, I’m aware of the options for getting super credits. None of that changes how I feel about the game and that I’m losing interest because of it.

I’m definitely experiencing FOMO with the warbonds I don’t have. I don’t have the time to play/grind or the inclination to pay for them, so I am missing out. There’s three warbonds that I don’t have and sure I’ll eventually get them maybe but right now I’m missing out. Being able to unlock things is a big part of a game to me. I’m not dedicated enough to HD2 to skip the other games I want to play in order to get the unlocks. The whole process is lowering my interest in the game. I paid for it, I want to use the new toys that get released with it. If I were to buy it today, I’d be so far behind I’d feel short-changed in what I got access to.

All that stuff is great if you’ve the time. I’ve got maybe 1-2 hours a week for the game.

Wait, that game is still playable online?

Many of us only view a game’s release in passing, and view it as an “event”. Groundhog Smasher came out, it failed, and we don’t hear of it again. Additionally, many of us associate “online” games with being “live service” - expecting the developers to announce a new skin, battle pass, game mechanic, or character...

Team fortress 2 still has a massive community.

Battlefield 2042 tried that and still seems to be widely hated. I like it, it was on sale recently and would’ve been a good buy for $7 bucks.

Uhh, it’s mostly a PvP game, there’s only ever AI when a round isn’t full.

I actually gave up because I was lost in an office most of the time. It was just dull.

Looking for a local co-op game to play with my SO (Steam Deck)

My SO and I have been having a lot of fun playing co-op games on the Steam Deck connected to the TV. We recently finished Split Fiction and I’m looking for the next cool experience to try out. We enjoy casual co-op games, nothing too hard or violent. EDIT: pixel art is apparently a big turnoff for her so that’s out as well....

Death Squared. Puzzle solving, each player controls two blocks on the map used to solve the puzzle.

I got stuck with COD6 because of that shit. It’s a boring game and it wasn’t cheap.

I liked 6v6, they should’ve made more tanks and healers.

I didn’t like role queue, sure it’s a strong team buildup but I don’t think it should’ve been forced. I really liked being able to flex between classes depending on what was needed. Sometimes five DPS and a healer will break through a point. Being a tank or healer with bad DPS makes an already limited role even worse.

Ow2 seems like they just trashed my game ($60aud) and added MTX.

I can’t get into marvel rivals, the time to kill seems too low, Overwatch was a bit more lethal.

It was re-released on Steam as “Overload”.

Battlefield 2042. There’s nothing else that scratches the large scale vs fps that’s got players in Australia. I tried cod6, hated it, waste of money; I’m not really into battle royale format games. 2042 is often cheap on sale, it’s still getting new players and for Oceania there’s actually people playing it. Battlebit was fun but it’s dropped off in popularity.

Everything seems to have a rocky launch these days, but the event/battlepass is effectively free for the coins you earn through play, they’re still releasing skins, a new map or even a re-release of older maps would be nice, as would next map voting. And finally they can simply delete hourglass, worst map in the game.

Silent but Deadly: I met some of my closest friends through multiplayer games. Then a strange happening turned everyone (literally) speechless. (slate.com)

World of Warcraft still exists in 2024. The game’s 10th expansion was released in August, and while it doesn’t command quite the same influence as it did during its early-millennium prime, millions of players still step through its portal every day. But the dynamic I’m describing—the complex social contract, the...

WASD + mouse aim in FPS. Wolf3d, Doom1 and Blakestone used the arrow keys, spacebar and Ctrl back in the day. The arrows were turn, not strafe too.

I reckon it was some friends of mine in the 90s in Box Hill, Melbourne, Victoria who were the first to use WASD/mouse aim. Share house above a shop at the end of a tram line.
