FeelzGoodMan420,

What is the last Ubisoft game that actually did well?

FeelzGoodMan420,

The last Ubisoft game I bought was Far Cry 3 in 2012. None of their games since then have even remotely interested me.

FeelzGoodMan420,

I actually really enjoyed Far Cry 3. But Far Cry 1 just holds a special place in my heart. It’s just such a good game and still holds up today.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

Because it’s not backwards compatible like that.

FeelzGoodMan420,

If you can force Vulkan, you cna use DXVK to get it to support DX12 features. Might be a pain in the ass to get it to work though. Not even sure if GTA4 will run on Vulks .

FeelzGoodMan420,

But it IS backwards compatible in the way you are describing. You can play a dx9 game on windows 11. So it is backwards compatible. What you cannot do (usually) is force a game built with dx9 features to use dx11/12 features. If the game wasn’t built with new API features (because it released before those features even existed) then you cannot expect it to be able to just “be dx12” all of a sudden.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

There’s no way in hell I’d play this game again. It was fun enough to get through, but nowhere near good enough to ever play again.

FeelzGoodMan420,

I got a good amount of playtime out of it, but only because I used mods and had fun installing texture packs and stuff. Also the Luma HDR mod was some of the best HDR I have ever seen. It made the game absolutely beautiful on an OLED monitor. I spent a lot of time just flying around to different planets and cities and just looking at the HDR presentation, taking screenshots.

That being said, yea, the game sucks. At the best it’s very mediocre. I definitely don’t think it’s worth $70.

It’s not surprising that you’re going to find Bethesda bootlickers on a starfield subreddit though. Not sure what you expected? Every game subreddit is like that.

FeelzGoodMan420,

That’s not really a good comparison. After 5-10 years you’re going to need a PC upgrade as well if you want to keep up with current game tech and run games at high settings. That can easily cost $700. Remember, consoles are usually mid-range computers.

FeelzGoodMan420,

True, but that’s just more of an added benefit of PC. I have to assume the vast majority of people who build PCs for games have the desire to play new games that come out. There may be a few people who build PCs with only the desire to play old games. But i don’t think that is the majority.

Plus if someone doesn’t want new games then they wouldn’t need or care to upgrade their console from one gen to a next. So i don’t think that’s relevant in this discussion.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

I’ll try to respond below. Lemme know what you think:

Consoles:

Need to upgrade every 5-7 years if you want to play new games on next gen consoles. Can play your old games indefinitely.

PC:

Need to upgrade every 5-7 years if you want to play new games that are more demanding and require next gen parts. Can play your old games indefinitely.

In terms of playing new games on an old PC, try playing cyberpunk on a PC from 2013 (7 years prior to CP77 release in 2020). You’ll get like 2 fps. Not even playable.

So to conclude, sure, you can try to play new games on your old ass PC, but it’ll run like crap and won’t be a good experience.

Edit: just to clarify, my opinion is from the perspective of someone who wants to play new demanding games. If you play super easy to run new indie games, then yea I agree with your point. Added benefit of PC is the ability do that indefinitely.

did you hear that Dr Disrespect tried to make a comeback the other day with a Deadlock stream? (beehaw.org) angielski

[alt text: several screenshots of posts on twitter. The bottom post is a tweet from @DrDisrespect on twitter, which says, “LIVE in 30 minutes. I just installed Deadlock… what the hell is this game? FeelzGoodMan420,

I reguse to read ANY articles that include the word “Slam.”

FeelzGoodMan420,

Exception to the rule.

FeelzGoodMan420,

“The Writer” is most likely chatgpt. Pretty sure most of these low effort shit gaming/movie articles are AI written at thid point.

FeelzGoodMan420,

That’s not really a fair comparison though. The ps5 has nowhere near the gpu power of a 4070. The PS5 is equal to like a low-mid range PC. Also console players are paying yearly subscription fees to play multiplayer. Plus you can think of the display as a cost as well. You need a monitor or TV, just like a PC. PC is likely more expensive overall, but not by as much as people think. Plus PC gives you so many perks over consoles. So you’re getting a ton more functionality for your money. It’s really not a HUGE DEAL to get a console once you factor these things in. Deal, sure. But not a huge deal.

FeelzGoodMan420,

I don’t understand this at all. You can get game pass or something on PC as well. That isn’t a console only benefit.

FeelzGoodMan420,

But game pass is available on PC too… Are you not understanding that?

I guess I see your argument? I don’t really agree though - read my orher comments.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Yea fair enough. That’s a completely valid point.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

Eh I’m not sure I really do agree on the cost. Because like you need to add another $400 onto the ps5 cost for 5 years worth of online fees to pay miltiplayer (assuming they don’t raise prices in 5 years, which they most definitely will) so now you’re up about $1K USD or more. I just used 5 years of fees since i figured new consoles come out every 5ish years. Could even be longer. No one seems to factor this in when describing console prices. Rember, there are NO online fees with PC (unless it’s a MMO with a subsciption fee or something but 99% games do not charge for online play.)

Also again, remember that a ps5 is a low-mid range PC. I think you can build a low-mid range PC for $1k or a bit higher, (crazy how expensive it is these days. $1k used to be a high end PC lol.)

Lastly, you’ll need to buy another controller for ps5 probably. So that’s another $50 or $60 or whatever the hell they cost these days. Maybe even a headset/microphone - not sure if those come with the ps5.

A comparable PC is probably still more expensive, but not really by that much…

Do you see what I’m saying now?

FeelzGoodMan420,

Sure. It’s probably like 20% cheaper with much less functionality, like none to little customization/modding, and gives an inferior HDR presentation. But it’s cheaper yes. so your point is proven, but it’s badly wounded.

FeelzGoodMan420, (edited )

Mass Effect. Either abandon/re-do the Andromeda storyline.

Edit: Spelling

FeelzGoodMan420,

Yea I’m not married to the Andromeda storyline either.

I personally think a mass effect prequel game about the first contact war (or whatever the war was between the humans and the Turians) would be the most interesting.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Well I think it could lead into that. But fair enough.

It genuinely upsets me that Valve spent their time and resources on another Dota variation angielski

Like for many other people, Valve single player experiences were one of my favorite of all time growing up. I considered both Half-Life and Portal to be masterpieces. It’s true they’ve always been distracted with multiplayer games as well, things like Counter-Strike or Team Fortress and I did play them for sure, because I...

FeelzGoodMan420,

Having HL:A Alyx be VR was super cool. The game was so immersive and for a while afterwards, I was convinced that any furure HL game had to be VR. Then the novelty wore off and the VR market basically is basically dead. Now I’m excited for another flat screen HL game.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Joke’s on them. I played Soma during Covid…

FeelzGoodMan420,

Agreed. It’s just very mediocre. Luma HDR mod is absolutely beautiful though, and I recommend it for anyone with a HDR monitor. It makes the game look absolutely stunning. It’s basically the only reason I played it lol.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Mods please ban this clown.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Read the other comment.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Fair enough. I didn’t think a mod would actually see that comment haha. I’m impressed though!

FeelzGoodMan420,

eviltoast.org/comment/8292430

I made another mod request here :-)

FeelzGoodMan420,

Oh sorry, got the two communities mixed up! I was complaining to mods on TIL community as well rofl.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Probably David Cage games lol.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Yep. It’s usually always cringe fan service. The sex scenes in cyberpunk are awful.

FeelzGoodMan420,

No. OP is a clown. Look at his replies in one of the RDR2 threads.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Half-Life 2 mods

FeelzGoodMan420,

Did they fix the absurd black crush in Odyssey?

FeelzGoodMan420,

If you take a screenshot in horizons and then take the same screenshot in odyssey, you’ll see that blacks are crushed to absolute shit in odyssey. You can even raise gamma to max and you still will not recover that shadow detail. The devs clipped it. They tonemapped the game incorrectly. It becomes blatantly obvious when you play this game on an oled screen haha.

I.e., take screenshot in horizons where tjere is a large shadow or no light hitting a part of your ship. Replicate it in Odyssey. It’ll be obvious. Or try raising gamma to max and you’ll see that zero shadow detail is recovered.

Also idk if you’re familiar with reshade, but if you google and install Lilium’s HDR shaders, it makes it even easier to see how crushed shadows are. It shows you a waveform visual that maps brightness. (Graph works in sdr as well as hdr)

FeelzGoodMan420,

Fair enough. The real issue is when you play in HDR (via inverse tonemapping) on an OLED. It’s just missing sooooo much shadow detail. It’s a well known issue that they never fixed and probably will never fix unfortunately. I’ve been experimenting with ways to recover the shadow detail using reshade add-ons, but so far no luck :-(.

FeelzGoodMan420,

There is a patch coming out for PC that claims to improve performance. We’ll see if it actually does anything meaningful.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) The Sims 4 just got surprise incest, and it's not even the first time (www.pcgamesn.com) angielski

This is one of those genuinely funny bugs, tbh. I remember Singles 2, the slightly more naughty competitor from years ago, had a ton of these weird quirky interactions, like masturbating with guests around and stuff.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Pretty sure half the characters are married to their sister in House of the Dragon season 2.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Is it just me or does this article just run on and on without actually proving whatsoever that these jobs were lost to AI?

They even acknowledge that these layoffs are mainly due to over-hiring during the pandemic. I see no concrete proof that AI had anything to do with this. Just speculation.

Does anyone else agree? Perhaps I missed something?

FeelzGoodMan420,

This game was great and had an absolutely amazing and emotional story. It was so unique and interesting .No idea why people criticize it. I’m not even gonna read the polygon article. Game was good af. Idc what anyone else says.

FeelzGoodMan420,

There aren’t even enough good games coming out anymore to justify paying for a subscription lol.

Devs should not be "forced to run on a treadmill until their mental or physical health breaks", says publisher of Manor Lords, citing how gamers seem to be trained to expect endless content work now (www.eurogamer.net) angielski

This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....

FeelzGoodMan420,

Sorry, but I for one am not going to accept these companies blaming everything on gamers. I’m not into bootlicking. Gamers are annoying af for sure, but I’m not blaming systemic industry problems on gamers. That’s complete horseshit.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Geforce experience is useless bloatware. If you need it to record game clips, then I guess I understand. Otherwise I see zero reason to ever use it.

FeelzGoodMan420,

Yea, no thx. I’ll stick with the old control panel until they kill it for good. I’ve heard nothing but bad things about the new app. Don’t fix what ain’t broken.
