Sibbo, do games w The signatures are still coming and it's already making an impact

Ah, the propaganda war has started.

Klear,

That’s good news. Means the initiative has a shot.

It was disquieting back when they were just flat out ignoring it.

Sibbo,

They were probably thinking that by openly opposing it before it collected enough signatures, they would have given it more publicity and hence made more people sign it.

You are being stopped from stopping people playing their games.

That’s a double negative bruh, as in, it reduces overrall limitations in the world for what people are allowed to do.

leftzero, do games w The signatures are still coming and it's already making an impact

Of course it’s limiting your options!

Screwing up the customer should not be an option you’re allowed to take!

Not sure why I haven’t played it, does anyone know if it has co-op across platforms? Like if I install it on a linux distro will I be able to join a spouse who is playing on her Xbox or Windows?

My spouse says I never played because the aliens invaded and subsequently abducted me.

YouShouldSeeMyAlt,

There is cross-platform play between PC (including Linux and Mac) and mobile devices (iOS and Android). For other platforms like Nintendo Switch and Xbox, crossplay is not available, meaning you can only play with others on the same console

You should be able to play co-op across PCs regardless of OS but console versions are not cross compatible.

LifeInMultipleChoice,

Thanks for this info, I installed Medieval Dynasty the other day trying to play co-op with her. Unfortunately couldn’t join, I assume because I didn’t have a legitimate version. Hers was paid for but I had just torrented mine in attempt to play locally. Was hoping I didn’t have to pay for a game twice to play together .

Saurok,

I’ve played it on Linux Mint while some friends were on Windows, didn’t have any issues :)

I love renting games. Worked for me at block buster 🤷‍♂️.

Corporate jargon translation:

“It’s going to limit innovation” = “We won’t be able to use those new ways of ripping off our customers anymore”

maxwells_daemon, do games w The signatures are still coming and it's already making an impact

“Developers” are the ones who are passionate about the games they make, and definitely don’t want their games dead.

“Corporations” are the ones who only want to profit from selling the game, and then ditch it once it’s no longer lucrative enough.

whostosay, do games w Founder of Arkane Studios: "I think Gamepass is an unsustainable model that has been increasingly damaging the industry for a decade"; impacts sales

I like how this prophecy was foretold a clean 1 week after this shit really went downhill. Who could’ve thunk Microsoft would be a shitty money grubbing whore?

Zahtu, do gaming w Founder of Arkane Studios: "I think Gamepass is an unsustainable model that has been increasingly damaging the industry for a decade"; impacts sales

That is part of the reason why i have never purchased it. Financially, selling Gamepass does not make sense, as the prices does not justify the buy-in to get a substantial amount of Games onto it, making it worthwhile. For Microsoft it only makes Sense, when they see additional Profitpoints Like the closed Market on it and Killing competition. Once that is done, the quality and amount of Games going to Gamepass will certainly worsen.

And we do Not need to forget that Microsoft is a Data Company. So by requiring the Gamepass service be installed onto your machine, they certainly get a load of Data about you from it. Which neither benefits the Game developers nor the consumers.

As for the Points of “Low barrier to entry, Games trying Out Games” - duh, thats what Demos are for

OutlierBlue,

This is absolutely a case of getting in, killing the competition, then jacking the price and tanking the quality.

And because it’s a service, despite using it for years and paying all that money into it, as soon as you leave you have nothing. All those games are just gone.

I watch this dude sometimes, he says he’s a fulltime game dev but all I see him do is play other games. The game he works on has seen very little progress.

Would be nice if he at least admits he’s a streamer and not a game dev.

Lemminary,

I’ve also noticed this from watching his stream and the more I learn about the guy the less I like him. He seems to misrepresent and oversell himself quite a bit.

Btw did he tell you about the time he worked at Blizzard, for the millionth time?

JoYo,
@JoYo@lemmy.ml avatar

The job he got through nepotism?

echodot,

He worked at Blizzard in the same way that Apple store employees work for Apple. They do, but not in the capacity that’s been implied.

whats_all_this_then,

Are Apple devs even contractually allowed to say that they’re Apple devs? I swear every employee from every other company won’t shut up about it on twitter but you never hear a thing from Apple people. Have I just been missing them completely?

echodot,

I know a few people who used to work for Apple. The reason a lot don’t say it though is because if you do people automatically assume you had something to do with whatever feature they don’t personally like, and you get berated about it.

whats_all_this_then,

Ah, that’s completely understandable. Most people don’t realize that in a lot of companies, the decision to make the stupid feature/break your workflow comes from a suit 10 pay grades above your level and despite everyone involved trying to explain that it’s a bad idea.

Also it’s a big fucking company haha

DreamlandLividity,

No joke, YandereDev has been making more progress than Thor on Hartbound and he at least does not pretend to be experienced Blizzard game developer.

I remember seeing gameplay of Heartbound in like 2017? maybe earlier. it’s still not finished?

I mean isn’t it a Deltarune ripoff ??

EDIT: Undertale it is then

dustyData,

Deltarune didn’t exist yet. It’s an undertale ripoff.

Which is very telling, tobyfox released a whole game on his own. While this " I worked at blizzard, BTW" tool hasn’t with an (allegedly) entire company around him. He’s a grifter, he scams people around him to profit off of other’s work. That’s all he does.

chronicledmonocle,

Given that it didn’t exist yet, more like an Undertale rip off

underscores,

“game dev” is a way to put it

Randomgal,

Yeah but did you know he worked at Blizzard?

kadaverin0,

He’s been working on that game for almost a decade now, too.

Omg! You can stun them!?!?

I was so frustrated with them on a recent play through.

Stovetop,

You can!

Worth noting for anyone looking to play both N64 games is that OoT Gerudo stay stunned indefinitely (until the area is reloaded) but the Pirates in Majora’s Mask who are borrowed from the Gerudo guards only stay stunned for a short time before getting back up.

This incentizes use of the Stone Mask, which can be obtained from the invisible guard by giving him a red potion. If playing the N64 version, he is located outside of Ikana Graveyard, which is a place that you can get to at that point in the game but many might not have bothered exploring yet. In the 3DS version, they moved him directly into Pirates Fortress so he’s harder to miss, but it does require just a little bit of stealth to get to where he is first.
