No, for me its the opposite, when I buy a game I’m more likely to actually play it because I want to get my money’s worth of enjoyment, while with a pirated game, there isn’t a need to play the game, even if I do have fun with it.
Same here, except it also applies to if a friend gifts me a game. I’m way more likely to play the game I bought because I have money that could be wasted, rather if it’s free, I have no obligation to ever touch it
I guess I’m talking about launching and trying the game, rather than finishing it. Like once I start playing, the chances I continue are mostly about the game itself, and probably more about my mood at the time than I’d like to admit. I’m talking about games languishing completely untouched. As someone that’s been collecting a steam library for 20 years, I’ve got well over 1000 games and I haven’t played even close to half of them. I play almost all of the games I pirate. I’ve only started doing that a lot in the last year or two, but even in that time I’ve bought a bunch of stuff I don’t play. The pirated ones just call to me stronger.
You need to grab the Duolingo APK from a source like APKpure or APKMirror and patch this file.
This is because the installed Duolingo app consists of multiple (split-)APKs.
Like have you seen hw prices lately? The prices of these class of card simply crashed through the ground. 1070 are very cheap, the rx470-480 is barely sellable trash. A lot of time had passed since the 10series…
But the 5700 is not an expensive gpu to buy second hand. Cpu asks for an ancient 6core or a 2nd gen ryzen. These aren’t unreasonable specs in 2023. Time has moved on. Sorry.
Mind you I have an ancient 6core and a 1080 class card.
I’m an adult with a job, and I don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of affording the recommended system requirements for this game any time soon. RX6800XTs do not grow on trees.
It runs like absolute crap. I have a 2070 with i9-12900k and 64gb ram and get 30fps on the LOWEST settings. That’s it.
I run Elden Ring at 120fps and just got done with Armored Core that ran at 144fps rock solid medium settings all the way through without a single blip.
Yeah it runs rock solid. I get the impression FS must have good employee retention and have very good methods for building employee skills, so over time they’ve only improved. On top of hiring and acquiring some of the best staff that must have existed in other Japanese studios. No idea how they actually treat the employees, could be like shit because it’s Japanese work culture, but something about them is producing content that is consistently a cut above everything. They’re getting up there like Rockstar in terms of quality but based in Japan instead of the UK.
If you’ve got windows 10 try updating to 22h2 (no, really; a consequence of Bethesda being acquired by Microsoft, I suspect), and update your GPU drivers.
That got it running on my 980ti, so it should also work with the 1070.
Yeah, I think it’s probably having to do with how Wine/Lutris emulates the Windows version, that makes it think it’s an older version. I’ll try on a real Windows partition…
Did u try adding it as a non-steam game directly on Steam and not using Lutris? I’ve tried both on my EndeavourOS PC and find that for whatever reason, it runs much better via Steam vs Lutris.
I didn’t say it was dead, most of its domains were seized by the US, so they were in fact run off like dogs. I made a post a month or two back mentioning the new domain they have.
I appreciate Postal 2 because the premise is kinda funny. It’s deliberately designed so you can beat it without doing any violence at all. You’re given tasks like get milk, pick up your paycheck, etc. And it involves standing in lines or people berating you. You’re stuck doing tedious annoying repetitive tasks, or you can get a flamethrower. I think standing in line to get Gary Coleman’s autograph takes 90 minutes if you do it normally.
Otherwise it’s very silly early 2000s edgy white guy dudebro humor
You’re stuck doing tedious annoying repetitive tasks, or you can get a flamethrower.
That premise, while cute, hasn’t aged well for me. The ever-rising number of chanlords shooting up their schools (and elder chanlords murder-suiciding their own families) because no one would blow them behind the bleachers (or because the wife left him or the kids won’t call anymore) sours the premise of “wouldn’t it be funny to murder everyone that mildly annoyed you” white guy dudebro humor for me long ago.
This is my only lemmy account and I made it before reddit killed 3rd party apps as I quit going on there. Going through my post history to try and judge me is something weird to do though

Rising from dormancy while otherwise doing nothing with that account, just to announce how mad you are that your edgy game wasn’t to my liking is weirder to me.
I comment when I have something relevant to say and typically delete mean shit after typing it out cause morons like you aren’t worth my time.
Surely someone must be a moron if they don’t like your edgy video game! What an emergency! And I’m so not worth your time that you’re still replying, you foaming frothing edgy gamer stereotype. frothingfash
Have a nice life man. Hope you find something you can enjoy your time at instead of whatever it is you’re doing.
Your passive aggression and petty concern trolling attempt, because I didn’t like your edgy video game, is noted and will receive all the consideration it deserves. kirby-wave
No overlays running, still crashes. I’m seeing quite a few people reporting this online, both with AMD and Nvidia, and of course Intel cards don’t work at all on this game.
Anyone who wants AC Mirage and Nightingale? Anyone who supports disrupting the duopoly that, driven by corporate greed, has effectively priced the “budget card” out of existence over the last decade? Those 2 are just off the top of my head.
If I was in the market for a GPU, I’d probably buy Intel Battlemage on principle. At least then I can criticize the current state of the GPU industry without being hypocritical.
I’ve started to just download videos with yt-dlp after grabbing links via Invidious. Using Invidious itself has become somewhat unreliable lately, and this way I don’t have to put up with buffering and can watch in good quality. Cut out the middle men
Consider upping the cache for youtube. By default it is 2 minutes, which is mostly fine, except that if you are speeding through a part with 2x or faster, you may quickly run out of that small cache, because it only loads with the speed of something between 1x and 2x.
And then you may also set up saving the cache to disk instead of RAM, because it may be quite larger. Single config option.
You can make these only apply for youtube videos only with conditional auto profiles. The doc has an example for an automatic youtube profile, it’s perfect.
I don’t use the main YouTube website at all anymore. A big reason for this is that I spend a lot of time using a really weak laptop that tends to struggle with the JavaScript-laden abomination that is modern corporate web design. Firefox itself struggles as well, so I primarily use Luakit with Invidious, which runs peachy. I also put together a local html page for my bookmarks that is generated from Yaml using a small C application (which is not optimal, I know, but I’ve been learning C and this was a good opportunity). Whenever something doesn’t work in Luakit, I evade to Palemoon. I also tried watching YouTube via mpv earlier, and it’s great! It runs infinitely better than any web player at max resolution and buffers the whole video. Never going back.
Ahoy, matey! If ye be lookin’ to improve the seedin’ of yer torrents, I’ve got a few tips that’ll make yer digital treasure spread faster than a sailor’s rumor in a tavern. First off, make sure ye be havin’ a proper port open on yer ship – aye, that’s the port-forwardin’ business. Next, check if yer ship’s crew, I mean, yer torrent client, be allowed through the firewall. Ye don’t want no scallywag blockin’ yer signal.
Now, here be the trick to gettin’ more swashbucklers to join yer crew – keep that torrent active, savvy? No need to be a lazy landlubber and abandon ship as soon as ye finish downloadin’. The more ye be sharin’, the more likely others’ll join the ranks.
And let’s not forget about those trackers, the navigational stars of yer torrentin’ voyage. Find yerself some trackers with plenty of hearties on ‘em, and add ‘em to yer torrent – that’ll give ye more chances to connect with fellow buccaneers sailin’ the same waters.
Last but not least, be mindful of yer upload rate, matey. Don’t be a hog, sharin’ is carin’ in the high seas of torrentin’. Set yer upload rate to a fair share, and ye’ll be well on yer way to becomin’ a respected seeder in the pirate bay. Arrr, happy torrentin’ and smooth sailin’, ye digital pirate! 🏴☠️
When crackers don’t patch out the phone line, they can.
Edit: Only in some cases, though. They can detect popular ways to crack games, like Steam DRM stubs. If the game has zero identifiable information about the buyer and no or an unsupported DRM, they’re SOL.
and how exactly is unity going to know whether it was gotten legitimately or not? the only way the developers wouldn’t get charged is if crackers patched it out
They can’t detect everything, but let’s look at Steam as an example. If the game detects Steam DRM, then the game knows that they should’ve bought the game on Steam. They can check whether the Steam DRM is a stub and therefore a crack, or get your local Steam account ID and cross-check whether you bought the game with a Steam API.
The thing is that most Unity games don’t even have DRM in the first place. At most most will have the Steam DRM which is trivial to bypass. And Unity Games released on GOG will be especially at risk.
