Regarding specs:
Even youtube creators supposedly had trouble (at times) running it at a consistent framerate.

Not that I had it when I bought it…It ran fine at 1440p ultra wide and (afaik) medium/high settings.

Better to look behind it as well. I will vote with my wallet, my data and my decision that I don’t support this giveaway behaviour to increase usage data so they can present great data for their investors.

Instead they divide the playerbase, the game dies quietly (at worst) or slowly cooks until it’s released on Steam and then it either does the same there or maybe they get the hoped explosion if it wasnt already on EGS.

Edit: Best case would be platforms dealing in feature exclusivity like SteamOS, Steam Deck, forums, mod integrations, groups, friends, achievememts, rewards (u points/steam points) for cosmetics etc. instead of dividing player bases.

The blanket decision is a fair point to take.
Yet the decision also stands for me.

You decide the stakes are in your favor because free and other reasons.

I decide against the offer because I don’t condone the strategy and prefer the (current) way Valve does it.

The likelyhood of a console player buying MTX and a pc player buying MTX is IMO more likely biased towards console.
There certainly are whales on all platforms but mobile doesnt count right now.

If you buy a SP game and they add MTX after thr fact, did you support the implementation of MTX?
If we get a SP campaign and don’t play MP it will certainly be reflected in their data.
And believe: They will abso-fucking-lutely track the telemetry data out of it.

And it’s almost like they cant run out of binary code + a license key to distribute.
And the preload period is stupid anyway since you will most likely need a day 1 patch anyway.

I tried RDR:O since I got free stuff from Prime.
It was so desynchronized and laggy I just closed the game and went back to SP.

What about bigger games like BG3? What’s stopping me from buying it full price, copying the files somewhere and then instantly reselling it? It would probably force them to implement strict DRM restrictions, and probably the nasty rootkit kind.

GOG literally exists and yet gamers still buy it on Steam.
If steam implements it, it may be more accessible and thus make it more relevant but as of now, nothing would really change.

Gyro is imo a bit of a gimmick.
Same as the adaptive triggers from the PS5 and the HD rumble from the switch and the Kinect from the Xbox 360/One.

They are all pretty cool but how many devs will actually implement it?
HD rumble: Sure, there are party games but those are 1st party (usually) and what purpose do they offer besides the few haptic feedbacks?
Adaptive trigger: I see two options. Racing or Archery. Maybe the odd platformer.
Kinect: Basically a Wiimote and a WiiFit - the scale. It had a few neat titles but basically useless unless you like the swish around in the dashboard.

So what purpose does the gyro serves outside of more expensive hardware the majority of devs will not utilize. Am I really missing out on something?

I have a SteamDeck…Maybe I should try it at least.
But I honestly can’t see myself using it with something like Halo Infinite or Doom Eternal.

But true: If the OS does itbas a full implementation, no extra work.
