Two top level comments and both are deeply stupid, well done!

Anyway, this looks awesome!

Yoddel_Hickory,

Yours is not at the top, so no longer true

Wow that looks amazing. I tried portal reloaded which is another fan made mode and it was great. Probably better than the original 2 games.

Telorand, do gaming w I made a boat elevator for Minecraft Bedrock 1.20

Nice job! I always like neat mechanisms. Only elevator I ever built was with water and soul sand.

reric88,
@reric88@beehaw.org avatar

That’s faster, easier and more efficient than this boat elevator! During the development process of the elevator, I did have a block switcher at the bottom which would swap a stone block for soul sand when the elevator was activated and the boat would rise very quickly (I didn’t have to put a delay in like with this one.) It would also descend more quickly because the dispensers were faster. It was VERY noisy, though, because when you’re on top of a bubble column it constantly makes splash noises

Telorand,

You can make a contained column of water with trap doors on their side (need two high) which prevents the water from escaping, soul sand underneath, and no boat needed. To come down, I made an empty column beside it with a water block at the bottom to stop fall damage.

Not as fancy as a mechanized dual-purpose elevator, but it got the job done, and it was quick and quiet.

maynarkh, do gaming w I made a boat elevator for Minecraft Bedrock 1.20

Neat. I’m not big into Minecraft, though I’m still impressed by how ingenious people can be with it.

Why does it go doqn so much faster than up? Is it intentional?

reric88,
@reric88@beehaw.org avatar

It goes down faster because the wiring is one way, bottom to top. So the water gets picked up starting at the bottom going up, and the last one just drops the boat at the water fall speed

AstralPath, do games w Let's Build a Sequential Shift kit for Sim Racing

This is amazing. The sim rally community is so cool.

4lch3my,

It’s pretty fun finding creative ways to have a car in your house without having a car in your house :-).

MrScottyTay, do games w The Hidden Costs of Long Playtimes in Modern Gaming

There’s too many games in the world that I want to play and I like to change it up in terms of what kinds of games in playing, and often have different games on the go at the same time on different platforms to keep up with my adhd. I really appreciate short games that give me a full experience without overstaying it’s welcome. Very few games can keep me going 30+ hours in, they have to either be REALLY good, the most fun I’ve had in ages or a truly gripping storyline with fantastic pacing, especially if it’s an RPG expecting 100+ hours.

Some busywork in games is fine as long as it’s not overdone. the insomniac Spider-Man games come to mind with that. Traversal and combat are fun enough to carry those games through any lull it may have that it actually makes going around ticking stuff off the map genuinely fun for me. And usually I hate it when games just fill a map with icons of things for you to do. It helps that its world isn’t THAT big compared to the likes of farcry, at least relatively to how fast you can traverse it.

2000mph, do games w The Hidden Costs of Long Playtimes in Modern Gaming

I had to stop playing long single player games because of time constraints. Having a full time job and family means little.time remains for free time and that free time is not consistent. So if I do try to start a big new game the next time I find time to go back to it I will have forgotten where the story was, what the controls were and very quickly give up on it and go back to quick pick up and play games.

beezkneez, do gaming w Here, have some more Freelancer

This looks cool, didn’t know it was still going strong. Last time I played Freelancer (vanilla) was during my military duty almost 15 years ago, when stuck on night duty. Brought it in and played with some of the other soldiers. It was a fun time, but we didn’t get too much into it then unfortunately.

newthrowaway20, do games w METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER - First In-Engine Look - Xbox Partner Preview

Honestly, I was interested in this game until the most recent re-release of the Metal Gear Solid games that Konami’s managed to fuck up.

I now 100% expect to see this game get fucked up too. If Konami can’t even handle the most basic of ports, how could we trust them to actually make a good remake of MGS 3 delta, arguably the best of the MGS series?

We shouldn’t trust them. If you have to get this game, pirate it, or pick it up on a deep deep sale way after it launches. Fuck Konami, They don’t deserve your money.

Kichae, do gaming w Discovery Freelancer Multiplayer - Official v5.0 Release Gameplay Trailer

Wow, they’re still releasing new versions of Discovery? That’s crazy! I can’t believe it’s been 20 years of Freelancer modding now.

GeneralRetreat,

Yep! Discovery alone has been going since 2006, and has had a 24/7 multiplayer server running consistently that entire time (barring minor outages from faults and attacks). Pretty incredible really.

I also don’t like thinking about it because I first registered an account on their forum in 2007… really puts the inexorable march of time into perspective.

Same but PC. I’m not a fan of exclusives, but considering how VR is still growing now is a very bad time to be dividing the community.

Frogster8, do games w Lords of the Fallen - PS5 4K 60FPS Gameplay

Between lies of P and this I’ve gone from 0 interest in my backlog to 2 games to beat

zachary3752,

Lies of P was extremely good. Not quite on the same tier as Elden Ring, but super enjoyable and polished.

rockerface, do games w The Talos Principle 2 | Demo on Steam Available Now

Oh boy, I better hurry up and finish Road to Gehenna before the release

Deconceptualist, do games w The Talos Principle 2 | Demo on Steam Available Now

I guess I should finally finish the first one, huh? Good game, but I guess I got bogged down 3/4 through it trying to figure out the story and some of the harder secrets. Probably should have just pushed through because I enjoyed the main puzzles way more.

PenguinTD,

Yeah, I am 3/4 through the dlc so only zone 4 and secrecy zone left. Actually the 1st zone is harder than 2/3 combined with the recorder device star puzzle. The rest I just go through pretty easily. Hopefully secret zone is harder than 1.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Having only really heard the name tossed around a couple times, I don’t know much about them but the trailer for this new one piqued my interest. Is it an action adventure game or more like a point and click style puzzle game?

drislands,

It’s a first person puzzle game. You move around the world interacting with various elements, such as laser redirection, to obtain the keys needed to progress. There’s an interesting story going on at the same time, which although I didn’t find it super compelling, it was good enough to keep my attention to the end.

BradleyUffner,

It plays kind of like Portal, if Portal didn’t have portals.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

That… That doesn’t make it sound fun. Portal without Portals would just be wandering around pushing boxes. lol
