I mean we can thank Blade and even Raimi Spider-Man for the current state of superhero movies. Before then we had that crappy Captain America movie from the 90s.
As long as it requires a server to operate, then yes, it will go away one day. That it failed to turn a profit even before the economic downturn, according to that Reuters article they cite, doesn't inspire a lot of confidence that it's going to run for very long.
I can’t test it (not colorblind) but many recent developments have been made with Microsoft’s help, and for all their faults, Microsoft is usually quite good with accessibility so perhaps it’s the good version.
Backed the kickstarter, still excited. Even in its current state it’s one of the more interesting games I’ve ever played. There’s probably a reason no one else has tried to make star citizen before. If SQ42 ever launches, hopefully in a decent state, assets will start getting moved to the multiplayer side of things.
It’s a space MMO sandbox game that’s been in development for like 11 years now I think? It’s still in the alpha stage. I think at one point it was the highest backed Kickstarter in history. Some people think it’s fraud and they’ll never deliver, others think they’re working on it just slowly. I think at this point universally though, people are just starting to give up hope. The game is available and in a playable state, it’s just nowhere near the promised state.
It also doesn’t help that a lot of ships in star Citizen can be bought with real life cash for pretty exorbitant amounts. A cursory Google search (haven’t played the game) tells me that the “600i Executive Edition” is the most expensive ship in the game, available for $25,000 real life USD.
I’ve heard the best comparison for the game is the presently finished game Elite: Dangerous. Star Citizen is basically saying they’re E:D but better.
The Javelin is the most expensive ship you can actually buy, at $3,000. It’s still a crazy amount of money though! But if people want to pay it, more power to them. It allows me to enjoy the game with my $70 starter pack!
While you technically have to spend $25,000 to get the 600i Executive Edition, is actually a perk you get once you’ve spent that much on the game itself.
That’s just sad. I invested so much time grinding my way through this game and engineering my 6 ships and getting a fleet carrier only to be ultimately disappointed by the lack of content and lackluster updates.
It saddens me that I now have to look forward to that mess of a tech demo called Star Citizen, but I’ve already burned my money on that too, so I’m only left with a dream.
You’re free to create stories, video, of your own video game in the universe. If you chose to make that public domain and give it away for free, then good on you.
Others can create freely in this universe with their own expression, which they could charge for.
Much like how there are movies about Cinderella or Red Riding Hood which are under copyright, but the base story itself is in the public domain and free to use.
I recommend the Overdrive app. sign up (in the app, even!) for a library card (doesn’t necessarily need to be to your local library) and start checking the books out!
Always worth checking if there’s more libraries you’re eligible for, for the best selection - I’ve got a card through my local library, one from the next town over (I just need to visit once a year to renew), and a town in California (Sunnyvale) that gives library accounts to anyone who applies. Some libraries will do digital-only accounts for like $20/Year, so that could be worth looking into if your local library doesn’t support Overdrive/Libby.
As of now, 15 September 2023, the comic book property called Fables, including all related Fables spin-offs and characters, is now in the public domain. What was once wholly owned by Bill Willingham is now owned by everyone, for all time.
The author has relinquished his copyright on the Fables universe. Every work based on it has its own copyright, however.
So while you can make your own stories in the Fables universe, it doesn't mean that things like The Wolf Among Us game from Telltale have had their copyrights affected in any way.
“Or”? I’d rather have the consoles makers and game developers working independently so that we don’t have to wait twenty years for Crash Bandicoot to become available on Nintendo. Fuck Amazon but Sony isn’t looking out for the gamer when they make Spider-Man a PS exclusive.
but I do believe you will have to have a connection in order to play cause it’s made in the Unreal Engine, it’s using cross-progression, crossplay, I do believe we need you to be online," said Listo.
I’ve been using Unreal Engine 4 since 2014 and in 2020 started using EOS which I’ve shipped on a game. This is bullshit. It’s entirely bullshit that you don’t need someone 10 years into the games industry with the relevant engine experience and relevant online subsystem experience to tell you it’s bullshit. You already know it’s bullshit. But here is a random expert opinion to definitively confirm it’s bullshit.
The only thing they had to do is make it so you can store your progress locally until you connect to a server. I do that with my achievement system in an indie game I made for under 10,000 USD from my publisher. It’s insane to think this is their excuse.
One of my all time favorite games. The only thing that would have made it better for me is a time-based story a la Dead Rising. Though that would have probably made the game even less successful than it was.
