Now that’s a good set of patch notes!

Is that not a game designer thing?

    They can’t write good stories any more, don’t expect good main story, just good side quests.

    It still feels like this expansion was too early (as usual) and many classes could have done with more time in the oven (druids and rogues)

    On the talents - they realised that they can’t just keep giving us stuff, so they have switched to having some kind of ‘borrowed power’ that gets taken away after the expansion - I think the hero talents are another example of this? Some are shit though and I imagine it’s going to be balance hell (rip boomkins too lol), as they never seem to learn with this stuff.

    It’s the endgame group content that actually sells wow for many people (me), so as long as that works and it’s ok balance wise (or alts can be leveled easily) then it’s probably ok for quite a few people though.

    Disclaimer: have not got early access, have bought the expansion, but left it really late to decide.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Druids currently have 7 trees. (And a treeent form)

    1 class tree, 4 spec trees and 2 (or is it 3 for druids?) hero trees. Only 3 can be used at any one time though (to be clear as you don’t currently play)

    The more possible combinations, the harder it can be to balance though

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I mean, my understanding is that they fired half of their story continuity team, resulting in a published (physical) lore book that makes no sense.

    So now I don’t think they are even trying

    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I would bet that there will be a new space age era added on as a DLC

    The ages concern me most though - what progress carries across? Are you going to be going full land grab because your infrastructure resets etc?

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Interested how the map expansion will work in multiplayer.

    Concerned about the era resets.

    I like what they appear to have taken from humankind (eras, leader swaps, outposts/yowns, map elevation?) and old world (tile improvements culture bomb)

    Also concerned about how the maps seemed to just be cities, no gradual domestication of the world with farms, mines etc.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Also a possibility of a humankind style neolithic era?

    But yes, expecting some required DLC unfortunately.

    But civ is a patient gamer staple - just wait for 8 to come out and 7’s dlcs will be cheap! 🤣

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    There was something said (maybe by a youtuber?) about upgrades merging with your town centre or something on a new era (because so much is specific to a single era). Almost like playing 3 games on the same map.

    It also implies that tech disparities will be reset twice a game…not sure if that is good or bad.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I just hope (foolishly) that with the current hype that it’s AI will be a focus. I hate that because it cheats things that would work on me don’t work on the AI etc.

    It would be really cool if they made an API for the game so people could build their own AI

    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Do you have integration with other health and fitness apps to retrieve non phone step counts?

    I have a Garmin watch that does all my health tracking etc.

    I think this was one of the few EULAs I actually read though, mostly to see if I was going to sell my soul to them as part of it.

    Did not, but was not disappointed, their lawyers definitely got to have some fun.

    EA just added classics like Dungeon Keeper, SimCity 3000, and Populous on Steam (www.theverge.com) angielski

    There hasn’t been a lot of good news out of EA lately, but here’s some: the company just launched a bunch of classic games on Steam. The new (old) releases include nine games in total, spanning franchises like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, and SimCity....

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Skylines is complicated?!?

    Fair enough I guess, have you tried citiesXL? Older and dead but even more of a city painter I believe.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    So much sarcasm in the quick chat 🤣

    For some slightly less common games: Golf with your friends is a great mini game to play, effectively really crazy golf online

    From the Depths build ships/planes/tanks with entirely custom guns, engines etc. then play on the campaign map with fleets of these ships. you can make some really complicated vehicles if that’s your thing. Unlimited player count as far as I’m aware.

    A less deep version of that is Avorion - Mine resources to build custom ships (less complicated) then even small fleets and do quests, make allies/enemies as you venture to the centre of the galaxy. Supports unlimited players as far as I’m aware. It also allows you to form an alliance to share resources with other players. Resource gathering (mining/salvaging) can be automated by your fleets if that’s not your thing.

    Board games here too! Lots of Terraforming Mars and Ticket to Ride

    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Get a client (or instance) that allows it then 🙂

    See the steam news feed here: store.steampowered.com/news/app/949230

    The CO Word of the Week has high level info, while the patch notes show what they have done.

    It looks like they have hit the low hanging fruit and are now spending time on getting the more difficult (but impactful) engine stuff fixed

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    That’s probably all quite techy stuff though, so I imagine that the designers and artists etc are still going to be working on new stuff

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Does anyone else think the water just looks… Strange? I think their wave texture is just too large? Needs to be more smaller waves.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I’m waiting for the mod update, hoping they will have fixed most of the bugs/performance by then and the mods can fix the rest.

    Glad that the base game seems to be sound.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I prefer that they are spending the money one actually developing advanced/new engine technologies than just releasing a half baked cames and a huge profit.

    They got loads more money than they expected and increased the scope to match.

    (I agree on the pricy ships though)

    Even if they went bust and the game failed, I would be happy if other big studios got the engine.

    Space sim Squadron 42 is "feature-complete" and gunning for Starfield's lunch with massive new video (www.rockpapershotgun.com) angielski

    Squadron 42 is the single player campaign of Star Citizen, that is supposed to launch as a separate game. It's basically a small portion of Star Citizen, but with a story and ending. I'm still not confident; waited too long for that.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I will believe it when I see it…

    Well, Cities: Skylines 2 is here, and it's another broken game release. angielski

    I don’t really understand how people make the review threads, but we’re sitting at a 77 on OpenCritic right now. Many were worried about game performance after the recommended specs were released, but it looks like it’s even worse than we expected. It sounds like the game is mostly a solid release except for the...

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    It’s a less cartoony art style I think (although the style in original skyline evolved a lot) we will see.

    Remember mods can fix/change loads

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Their marketing has been awful though. They had a great build up with all the deep dive videos… Then nothing for a month?!?

    I originally thought it was going to come out a month ago, just after the end of the videos, then was shocked to find out it was still a month away.

    I guess they wanted some time so they could address any feedback they got?

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Yeh, but then there was nothing for a month!

    Normally they build the hype up to the release, I have actually un-hyped coming up to this release.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    It’s probably more bad planning then, shouldn’t they be peaking the hype just before launch?

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    That’s a fair point

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I’m not sure that the stacked containers really works there… structural tacos? 🤣

    Or maybe anti-gravity plates?

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I thought creative assembly was independent and only published through Sega - apparently not?

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I assume that’s gaming revenue not total?

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Not sure why they said they would have to buy a new one to investigate the SD card reader issue - could they not return that one as it’s broken?

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Either lost the source code, or didn’t have the expertise/time to fix it properly.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    That is every save though. So when you are 50 quicksaves in on the 5 multiplayer games you have running… it probably starts to get significant

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I have mage hand on Astarion and it’s still once per short rest.

    Feather fall has caused me problems (and at least one TPK) I have had it drop off with no combat log line.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    There are some instructions here on how to skip the launcher and ensure you still launch with your chosen graphics API.

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    Which GPU manafacturer was that with?

    What type of game do you want to play that doesn't really exist?

    Have you ever played a game and wondered what if you could do something that it doesn’t really allow you to do, for example being able to move around blocks in Minecraft fluidly instead of in sectors, edit the world in Hogwarts legacy with spells, be able to fly in a world like Elden Ring or Elder Scrolls with epic sky...

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    I want a new ski resort simulator game that also has the summer season.

    No one has done a bug free version of the ski side in probably 2 decades at this point…

    Nighed,
    @Nighed@sffa.community avatar

    That’s a skiing game not a tycoon game though right?
