I am just now playing The Stanley Parable on Switch and am having a great time with it. I’m not a PC gamer, and rarely a console gamer, so I missed when it first came out.

I have recently finished Hollow Knight, Deaths Door and Fire watch.

Hollow Knight was great, and I was pretty sad when I finished it.

Deaths Door is really good, but it felt a little lacking of content to me. But it’s a small game and is a good introduction to more complicated games in similar genres.

I liked Firewatch, but I remember being disappointed by it for some reason. I can’t remember why exactly.

Chronic_AllTheThings,

I have recently finished Hollow Knight

Did you finish it finish it? Have you battled The Radiance? (9000 times lol)

reric88,
@reric88@beehaw.org avatar

Well… I didn’t finish it finish it. I didn’t:

  • Complete the path of pain
  • Beat Nightmare Grim
  • Complete the Pantheons.

I felt like I was missing out on other games, so I opted to shelve Hollow Knight. I was spending so much time trying to complete the path of pain and defeat nightmare grim, I didn’t even want to attempt the Pantheons. I instead just moved on, lol.

I think I was at 107% completion or something

Chronic_AllTheThings, (edited )

Oof, I couldn’t get through the Pantheons, they’re just nuts.

Far Cry 6. These games are so much fun for me but this one seemed to get a lot of bad reviews that I put off playing it. it’s repetitive but I’m still enjoying it. The weak sniper rifle are bothersome so I need to figure out what I’m doing wrong there.

Continuing my first time playthrough of Apollo Justice on my way through the rest of the Ace Attorney series.

And returning to Death Stranding since I beat the game to max out the prepper shelters (mission givers) and to slowly work towards Legend of Legends (completing every single repeatable mission on "hard" mode).

Now that the story is over Death Stranding is a fantastic "throw on a podcast and grind" kind of game. Very soothing.

Still working through side quests in Borderlands 3 as well. Really enjoying the shooting in this one. As acclaimed as 2 is, I just couldn't stand the shooting model until at least Pre Sequel, but 3's shooting genuinely feels quite good now.

itsgroundhogdayagain,

I loved Death Stranding, it’s one of my few platinum trophies on Playstation. looking forward to the sequel that I just recently heard about.

I'm a PC player so I probably won't get to play the second one for quite a long time, but I'm excited as well. Kojima doesn't usually iterate in a straightforward manner in sequels, so it's hard to know just quite what we'll get out of it.

Death Stranding was already one of the most novel and interesting games I've ever played in both story and gameplay, so I'm glad we'll get to see some more of it.

sigmaklimgrindset,

I hope you enjoy the Apollo Justice series! Will you be playing the Investigations series with Edgeworth too?

I played all the Ace Attorney games for the first time during the pandemic and had an absolute blast! The Great Ace Attorney duology is definitely my favourite of the bunch by far, but they are all so charming!

all-knight-party,
@all-knight-party@kbin.cafe avatar

As a kid I endlessly replayed the original trilogy and never wanted to try Apollo because "I thought his hair looked dumb", so after trying it now and realizing that even with a new character it's still Ace Attorney I won't be skipping any other games.

So yes, I'll be doing the Edgeworth Investigations next! I'm excited. Eventually I'll make my way through the 3DS titles and then to Great Ace Attorney too.

buedi,

Is there a way around the stealth / hiding from the black fog thingy or does it get less as you progress? This is the only thing that held me back playing further. And I was so impressed by everything else in the game. It is a bit sad, I really want to continue playing.

reric88,
@reric88@beehaw.org avatar

You do get a way to combat them fairly easily later on, but it’s still usually best to avoid them unless they are very dense or blocking your path directly. It does not become less frequent, it gets more frequent, but you can actually engage them

buedi,

Thank you. Knowing that I am able to deal with them other than trying so sneak around them will make things easier :-)

@reric88@beehaw.org avatar

I don’t know how to do spoiler tags, so I deleted that comment 😵‍💫

all-knight-party,
@all-knight-party@kbin.cafe avatar

They won't go away, but you will eventually learn and see where they are. Sometimes you'll have to engage them, a lot of the time you can get around them.

They're not in all areas, but you will be able to understand how to deal with them and once you can fight back you can handle them.

I was terrified by them in the beginning and didn't want to have to deal with them, but now I really think they're cool and enjoy taking them down. You really go from helpless and confused to knowledgeable and prepared.

buedi,

Thank you very much. I guess I just have to pick it up and get through this. I loved everything else of it, so I am sure it is worth it :-)

Bananable, do piracy w Using OpenVPN for sailing the sees

Openvpn is a protocol that other vpns can use, the speed and quality would still depend on what provider you use. A provider would provide a config file that would include all the info required by openvpn to create the connection, as long as they include that then you could use openvpn.

What’s your concern? I’ve never heard any issues with purchasing anything on VPN. In fact, it’s recommended to save money by getting around geo-pricing

SymbioteSynapse,

It is against the steam subscriber agreement to use a VPN. Particularly if you’re using it to get around a region restricted game. Will they check and catch you? Probably not, but they can. It’s definately not recommended though.

HawlSera,

Getting around geo-pricing is a bannable offense

Kolanaki, do gaming w what's some of the best dialogue systems you've seen and why?
!deleted6508 avatar

The best systems I’ve seen so far are super new and janky because they use AI and you just actually fucking talk to them, and are also only in some niche indie games atm. It’s what I’ve always dreamed to be the future of dialogue systems in games since getting into RPGs way back in the 90’s. The systems themselves are perfect; but the AI still has a little ways to go.

MJBrune,

Honestly, personally, I find that the worst way. Especially since you could get stuck in a dialogue forever. I don’t find that a flaw in the AI, the AI is doing exactly what it’s supposed to, the issue is the open-ended nature of the system. I don’t want to get RSI from just trying to get a key from an AI that was told never to give me the key.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

You don’t type. You use the mic and talk to them.

MJBrune,

eh, I don’t think that makes it better. I didn’t do that for Binary Domain and I don’t think the free form nature is a benefit.

Kolanaki, do gaming w What is a good 2 player Tetris these days?
!deleted6508 avatar

The original is still my favorite. There are some awesome ROM hacks that provide competitive 2-player mode, while keeping the original rules, scoring and graphics.

Marketing. It generally being a good game and part of a beloved series, set in a beloved franchise (D&D). WOTC has been marketing and growing the Hells out of D&D lately. The recent movie and this game are part of that.

(assuming your home country is USA) You are allowed to purchase games from US websites while you travel. As long as the purchase is linked to your US payment method, with US residence address on the bill, it does not matter where I’m the world you connect from.

You might raise suspicion if you bought something via NL VPN, using Dutch credit card and address. Otherwise you are all good.

I use torrent galaxy, that seems to work pretty well.

Qbittorent to get the thing you want. Recommended to get a VPN while doing so.

Dump the file into a flash drive and plug into a TV. Or setup a shared network drive. Or set up a Plex server with a basic Music/TV/Movie folder structure , have Plex scan it, and stream like your other streaming apps.
