So dumb question, but how do I get my hands on this? I’d love to play through Ocarina of Time again.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Thanks. I’m sure I can find one on the high seas.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I haven’t played since the first couple months it came out in Early Access. It was a lot of fun, but there was nothing to do in the end game. I’m curious if they’ve added end game content that keeps it replayable.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I wish I could go back and fight Psychomantis for the first time

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I didn’t try all the new changes, but played for a couple hours yesterday and couldn’t find a good way to deal with Chargers. Anyone have better luck?

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah, I feel like 1 is easy enough to deal with. Orbital rail strike will 1 shot anything. But once there are more than 2 chargers out, I felt like it is impossible.

@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Where do you aim the EAT for Bile Titans? Just shoot em in the head?

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

We had two members with EATs basically littering them on our path whenever the cooldown was off.

That’s a good idea. The cool down is so short, might as well use them constantly.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Pretty much on any level 6 or above you’ll get more than 2 on every fight.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Just played tonight with using EAT for Chargers. Aiming for the leg strips the armor in one shot and then they’re easy to take down with your primary or another EAT after that.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

They also nearly doubled the recoil of the breaker. That’s a huge deal.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah, if they were concerned about people spamming those and nothing else, then I wish they’d balance the rewards / mission effort, rather than just extending the mission time.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

It feels like the game balance team hasn’t played the game on the higher difficulties. If your primary weapon isn’t supposed to be able to deal with tanks, then your strategems are your only option. But nerfing the railgun without giving us other alternatives makes killing massive amounts of tanks impossible. I doubt the buffs to the flamethrower and laser cannon are going to be enough.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah I just made a similar comment. At the higher levels, you have more tank enemies than are practical to deal with using orbitals and airstrikes alone. The railgun was the only thing feasible to deal with wave after wave of tanks. Taking that away without giving alternatives is a major blow to level 7 and above.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I personally prefer that there isn’t one correct way to play the higher difficulties.

I agree that there should be many viable ways to at higher difficulties. I just think that nerfing the only way that seems to work without providing alternatives doesn’t seem like the way to go about making that happen.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah, we were struggling with heavies playing just on Hard. We didn’t even bother to play anything higher than that.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I’ve played this game all the way through 3 times. The only thing that affects its replayability is the long-term emotional damage.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I loved the Batman Arkham games, but yeah, one and done is good.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I stalled out on playing this. I loved the combat aspect, but the chores and conversations feel too much like… well, chores. I just wanna fuck up some bad guys, not watch my character watch a movie with a Marvel character!

They recently released an updated version of Brothers with new graphics. But the game is exactly the same. So it’s not really a must buy for me. Especially since the original had pretty good graphics anyway.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

But there are sequels to play! Also, playing To the Moon with someone who hasn’t played it before is just as good.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I wonder if there’s a way to emulate the old CRT displays. My brother built an arcade cabinet, but it’s got a modern monitor in it so the graphics don’t quite look right.

Starbreeze admits Payday 3 is massively underperforming (www.gamedeveloper.com) angielski

Payday 3 launched for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S in September 2023 but has seemingly struggled to win over players. The title currently has a ‘mixed’ rating on Steam with over 36,000 user reviews, although the vast majority of recent reviews have been ‘mostly negative.’...

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I played it a lot at launch. Frankly it’s just boring after a while. There’s only something like 6 or 7 missions. You get no rewards for completing missions except for random achievements and cash, which is pretty useless overall.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I hear KSP 2 is good now that they added career mode. I’ve been holding off getting back into KSP just because of the time suck factor of it. But might have to check it out again.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Never heard of it. Is it a story heavy game? My Steam account says it’s similar to Hollow Knight and Ace Attorney, which seems like two completely different games.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Ooooo I do love some Papers Please. I’ll check it out. Thanks!

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Got it last night and played it for about an hour. Definitely a unique and interesting game! I’m enjoying it so far.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Haha I’m the same way. So many of the vocal players say “it’s a PVP game, there’s not supposed to be anywhere safe!” But yeah, I just really like the sailing mechanics, the exploration of diving to sunken ships, sailing in storms and hunting megaladons. Getting stomped by some hardcore players while in the middle of an adventure was never fun to me.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

User name checks out

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Lol I asked the same question

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

That threw me off too, but I had asked if it ate meat. Then later asked if it was an omnivore.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

How does this work? You can’t possibly have all these questions hard coded. Is it asking something like ChatGPT “does an X eat meat?”

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Looks like it doesn’t let you cheat by asking two questions at once! It works just fine if you ask it if it’s an animal.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Actually the lastest one isn’t an oven as the final answer. My wife asked that and was like, “so why isn’t it over??”

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

It was ”microwave”. Which, technically is an oven, which is why it answers yes to that.

Looking at their GitHub page, I’m gonna say no. You need the ROM file of the original game, so while it looks like they’re doing some things like key bindings and increased frame rates, I’d be shocked if they went so far as to implement something as complex as online multiplayer.

What games can you recommend that didn't get the appreciation that they deserved? angielski

I’ve been recently been thinking about Arkane Studio’s Prey which is a immersive sim, with a pretty good rogue like dlc, that probably has one of the strongest hooks of any game I’ve played. If you liked Halflife, System Shock, or Deus Ex it’s definitely worth a play....

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I was mildly a Borderlands fan, but then I played Tales from the Borderlands and fell in love. It’s such a great game with amazing writing and music that I’m always surprised to hear that most people, including fans of the main Borderlands games, have never heard of it.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

That’s exactly how I felt about it too. It felt like if your FPS character just set down their gun and started talking to people.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I know that Diablo isn’t a Capcom game, but if industry leaders are looking at $90 games with battle passes and in game purchases for $20 horse armor is “too low”, then we are truly fucked.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Maybe it makes me a boomer, but I could not get into the remake as much as the original. I hated the real time combat. It made me feel like I could only control one character’s actions well, which made me way more detached from the rest of the characters in my party.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Real time combat just doesn’t make sense! You’re controlling a party of characters. You can’t possibly juggle the attacks and abilities of 3 characters in real time. So it forces you to pick one character to focus on, while ignoring the others. Which is just lame. The last FF I played was 8, so I can talk to how they’ve done it with others more recently.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

I’ve got something like 50 hours into it so far and am still loving it.

jballs,
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

Jaws of the Lion is definitely easier to get into. The organization is all done for you. Opening the Gloomhaven box is a vastly different experience. It’s like opening a box of Legos and wondering how the hell everything is going to go together. Literally had to go to a sporting goods store and buy fishing tackle boxes to organize everything!
