No, gamer you see, it’s really important that you grind these randomly generated kill quests to progress, it’s totally not to incentivize you to purchase the exp boost in our cash shop in this single player game, can’t have you using cheat engine to ruin your experience.

@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Only the ones that come with some ultimate edition, the store exclusive ones never do.

Popular Female Skyrim Modder Has Abandoned Her Work Due to Daily Harrassment (www.gamesradar.com)

I think gamers as a whole, though specifically those in niche communities, need to take a long and hard look at themselves. We should celebrate the volunteers that create wonderful content for us, generally with no financial gain. Instead, commonly, there are communities that criticize and tear down every little thing they can...

@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

After reading the article, I’m not entirely on her side, most people don’t want to be cucked in a videogame since it probably brings up bad memories. The mod didn’t release like that, she kept going in that direction and people voiced their disdain.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

The phrase is “don’t feed the trolls”, not the contrary.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I can finally play the cool mods without taking it from my friend’s library.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Like Ross said, since they are suing in the USA better to not get your hopes up.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Don’t get it wrong, the reason The Crew was the perfect game to start the movement is solely because Ubisoft is french, a country that has pretty strong consumer laws that they aren’t respecting.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

They are pirated, what he means is what some community manager already said back when this was about Helldivers 2, made their job easier to ban people with playstation accounts.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, release groups are still packaging ryujinx with new switch games, it’s just that good that it still works with games released after it went under.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Easy, a bug in battle eye forced me to reinstall windows, this kernel access has to go.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

4 likes on him complaining that modlogs being public is something bad, cowards that only want to be shitty in the shadows.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Plenty of games use it, if it uninstalled with each one then others would stop working.

Are any games using neural networks for better hard AI that doesn't cheat?

Playing complex strategy games for many years, one of the things that irks me the most is that hard AI levels often just give the dumb AI cheats to simulate it being smarter. To me, it’s not very satisfying to go against cheating AI. Are any games today leveraging neural networks to supplant or augment hand-written decision...

The fear of hallucinations is so great for a commercial company that when square enix tried it on a remake of a detective game of theirs, it became the poster child of how awful LLMs are for videogames, it’s one of the worst rated steam games, it’s like talking to a wall because they nerfed it so hard it’s worse than a normal text parser.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I saw people being mad not because they are selling a 90$ mount, but because now everyone can just have it instead of grinding 5 million gold lol.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I remember when this privilege was reserved for free games since it was how they made their money, but like Sterling says: they can’t just make money, they can’t make enough money, they gotta make all of the money.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

They released on steam in august, but yeah, by then people already forgot about it.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

also, it came out a month ago

*on steam

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

What do you even mean? Hollow Knight was a massive success, so was Bloodstained, Ori, Metroid Dread, etc. People can’t stop memeing that Silk song is not releasing because they refuse to forget about it, Ubi’s reputation is just in the gutter so to capture the audience that enjoys these games again they have to do multiple good things, not just one and give up.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

This game is technically the same price of other metroidvanias like Bloodstained, in the US maybe, because here in Brazil this game is almost the same price of a regular AAA, they didn’t localize the price at all, so I wouldn’t buy it until it gets a deep discount since I don’t buy any overpriced AAA on release anymore either.

The price here is so high that even the 40% steam debut was still too much for it, I can buy 3 Bloodstaineds without any discount for the price of 1 Lost Crown.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve genuinely been sat in meetings that got derailed for 30 minutes so that the placement of objects that players are likely never to interact with could be discussed in detail. There’s just no actual focus on getting the game done.

We have a saying here that translates to something like this: “perfect is the enemy of done”. Getting lost in details like this will always delay things a ton.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I heard he got better after leaving twitter for years and coming back.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Chris can shut up the haters just fine by finishing the game.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

It was a debate so things probably got heated, not about to watch him debate Hasan to confirm lol.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

This is about normal things like picking up an item, not a QTE. It feels horrible and a pretty big time waster.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Probably after people learned that nintendo had no proper account system so you would lose your purchases if your console died and needed the hassle of sending it to them for them to transfer to a new console.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Who cares about shame when you have no competition? In your dreams.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

You can force a download of it, just be prepared for the massive install size, which also won’t help the people with data caps.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I like how the thong in dragon’s dogma 2 is equal to both, and it has a pretty high defense so the game really wants you to wear it at the start where everything kills you easily.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Also design documents like the dude that mated with an octillery lol. The concept of people and pokemon breeding was still referenced in sinoh, but in a way tamer way.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

This is what made it in, but there are more of those myths that do get pretty dark for this series that was uncovered in that hack, also a beta build of BW.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

It’s great seeing the emails, seeing the team so happy about BW but then receiving the west’s criticism of “I can’t use charizard for the 5th time in a row :(” was disheartening, so they course corrected with XY and we got that turd.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

As bad as they are, EA isn’t sending lawyers to every fan project that revives their old games, they are just regular greedy, not petty greedy. Ubisoft to this day ignores Rayman Redemption too.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve always thought it made money considering how abysmal their creator pay is, together with a skin NFT-like market.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

The amount of comments on social media that I saw of people surprised by this means this really wasn’t something the average person knew about, it’s natural to think if you paid for digital content it should’ve the same rights of physical. Though reselling will get messy.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Which gog games have DRM? The costumers over there even protested Hitman’s inclusion in the store precisely because without internet you can’t unlock anything in the game, GOG even removed it from sale.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe the average lemmit, not the average gamer.

My mental health has improved after deleting games that have microtransactions in them

After playing World of Warcraft for 15 years, I started becoming increasingly bored and disgruntled with the game. The game being grindy and repetitive is no real surprise, I mean it’s an MMO. But the one thing that was really frustrating was paying monthly for a subscription and a huge chunk of cash for an expansion, but...

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

It’s refreshing seeing your list since people often blame gachas nowadays, but MMOs were the issue originally, it’s just that other genres took a lesson from MMOs so now we have way more grinding options and it gets tiresome.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

You joke but this is exactly what people did to play Final Fantasy Origin on release, a mod that made everyone bald because the hair was the reason the game ran so bad lol.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Oh the new one, my friend had to install razer chroma to finish a dungeon because apparently the game has some connection with it to change the color of the keyboard during that dungeon. Something about it making a lot of calls to that software if it couldn’t find it, ends up bringing the fps way down lol.

I'm tired of every game being live service

I’m really frustrated with how almost every new game these days is being forced into this “live service” model. It seems like no matter what type of game you want to play—whether it’s an RPG, shooter, or even something traditionally single-player—you’re stuck with always-online requirements. And for what? It adds...

Didn’t know you could put so many filters to search for games over at steamdb, thanks for the link.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Diablo IV is proof that a strong nostalgia brand is more powerful than a good game like Path of Exile, game spent the first year just fixing itself like everyone bought an alpha access.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Zenless doesn’t even have multiplayer yet, it’s basically a single player game with updates, the only interaction is chatting with someone after adding their id to your friend list.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I liked that No Man’s Sky basically became an online space game with the yearly updates, and look at that, it still has an offline mode! It’s not impossible at all.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

How is it a lie? Jailbreakers played their digital games offline fine before this, and now they have a headache, making it harder.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

What this means is that you can’t restore your games from backup while offline because uninstalling them also removes the license, forcing you to put the console online again to download the license again.

Starfield's first DLC is one of the worst Bethesda DLCs of all time

Starfield steam page for the DLC currently shows eight user review score of 41%, making this one of the worst Bethesda DLC’s released of all time. This is so horribly, shockingly bad for Bethesda, because it shows as a gaming company, they are no longer capable of delivering a really good gaming experience as they had in the...

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Very creative game though, but player hostile lol.
