Mentally ill woman in her late 30s. Quit my jobs with DIDDs to go to work a retail job and go to school.

I’m here to help!

flicker,

I’m convinced half the reason school exists is to isolate the poor monsters for the better part of the day, so society can try and function.

flicker,

I’ve always been partial to Broseidon, King of the Broceans.

Wouldn’t have fit, though.

flicker,

I 100% believe it could happen.

You see, I, too, was once an awkward nerdy middle school girl and the go-to move for showing a guy you liked him was to get way into one of his hobbies.

Oh my God I want it so bad.

I never owned my own copy of Wind Waker. I borrowed it when I was a kid from a friend and then later I played the Wii-U version from a different friend. Now that I’m like, an adult (more or less) with my own console, I want a copy for myself. And also I want to play it again. Man! Love that game!

Suggestions? Games that won't make me feel alone? angielski

I need some suggestions on what to play. Single Player games only. Most of the games make me feel lonely and alone. In most of the games, the protagonist has to deal with the problems on their own, like Control, Crysis, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War (I liked the original 6 more than the new ones, even though the new ones had...

flicker,

You’ll definitely experience anxiety though.

Or maybe deep dread.

flicker,

I read “EverQuest” and my brain commented, “You mean EverCrack,” immediately.

My cousin was horrifically addicted. Luckily for me, my opinion on subscribing to a game was, "no matter how good a game is, I’m not paying for it over and over, " even in middle school, so he couldn’t convince me to try it.

flicker,

I’m really looking forward to pulling this crap as I get older.

Particularly about Pokémon. I grew up with Pokémon. I’ve played every single main game (or at least one of the two that released!) I cannot wait to call them all Pikachu just to watch a kid squirm.

Yessss

Steam Summer Sale - Top Deals angielski

Initial scrolling of the Steam Summer Sale seems pretty lackluster, but digging through the comments sections in other threads, a few gems have stood out, and it doesn’t appear we have a thread dedicated to this yet, so post what you think are the best deals here!...

flicker,

I play this on my android phone. It’s free, ad-free, and you can pay to support.

The updates have been awesome. It’s extremely difficult, and it’s not unusual to die a buncha times before your first success.

flicker,

Just to add support to your point, it’s literally in The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook that the inspiration comes from Harvest Moon. He’s not at all claiming to have invented anything. ConcernedApe is a humble treasure.

(I just finished reading the cookbook is why I pulled that information from there. I’m sure there’s lots of other places where he said that.)

flicker, (edited )

I’ve played them all over the years. My favorite for a long time was Wind Waker, because of the feeling of freedom it gave me, so it’ll surprise no one that Breath of the Wild beats it.

Breath of the Wild is my new fave. I gotta say that the story of Tears of the Kingdom really did it for me (just absolutely sobbing at points) but since it feels like it wouldn’t have had that impact if it wasn’t for Breath of the Wild, I give it to Breath of the Wild.

(Special shout out to Link Between Worlds. Really feel like that game was fun as hell.)

Edit: Gotta be real. I don’t remember which one I played first? I think it was Link to the Past.

flicker,

The cart said Final Fantasy 2. We now know it as Final Fantasy 4.

My father had my playing it and reading all the text out loud. I played that game over and over and over. I have all the hidden paths and treasures memorized.

The opening scrawl ended in something about Cecil and Kain vanishing “into a deep fog.” For years and years I thought it said they vanished “into a deep frog.” Let me tell you… the hours I spent lying awake at night wondering what that meant…

And of course my Dad didn’t correct me.

flicker,

I think your point of view is interesting but flawed. It’s very obvious you’re not a woman, frankly. I’ve been playing video games since I was a child, and the absolute truth is, women absolutely face more harassment than male counterparts. That’s a blog, but it links multiple studies, and you’re welcome to review them yourself.

I’ve often found the argument that you’re making is usually the Call of Duty defense (“it’s not that gamers are racist, it’s just that once we know your race, that’s what we attack”) and it’s often used by the privileged to try and claim that everyone is a target, everyone is a victim, if you can’t handle it then stop playing.

flicker,

The research examined how gamers reacted to female versus male voices in an online game. Using statements designed to be neutral and inoffensive, female voices were found to receive considerably more negative reactions, resulting in three times more negative comments than male voices.

This is a massive problem and isn’t somehow equally terrible to the idea that harassment will happen towards anyone based on what others can discern when they hear you. Women’s voices are targeted in a way other statistical data is not.

As for voice changer information, I found some with a cursory google search, but I realized that wasn’t the point I was making, it was information you’re interested in, and you’re welcome to find that. It’s equally damning to what I’ve said.

ETA; I don’t think you are. If you’re a woman, you should probably disclose in your post challenging people to use a voice modulator to sound like a woman. Because it reads like a man posting it as an interesting challenge, and not a woman challenging men.

flicker,

What an insanely good game, and a blast from the past. Thank you for reminding me of it!
