The next update after this one should be the official release out of early access, I can't wait!
The trailer also shows the extreme measures counterpart for Hades 2 (powered up bosses), and wow they look more punishing than the first game. The third boss being surrounded by lava will be a nightmare.
Multiple new scylla songs too, Supergiant are spoiling us.
Every mario party game is very RNG-heavy but i think that's by design. It would get borint very quick if the best player would win every time, and the randomness gives a chance for players who suck at minigames (kids and non-gamers) to win.
I understand that’s the purpose of a party game, but the mini games I saw were literally chose a thing and it will explode or it will not, no fun involved after you experience it once. Not even like a blue shell that still needs you to move forward.
Also there was a game that made you chose a 1 or 2 and once you got to a few players, it was impossible to win regardless if you got left with the option before the bee hive. At least make the dice spin faster when less players are around to make it feel random but fair (even if it isn’t).
There is a point where things move from fun and chaotic to completely random and less replayable.
It looks great, and I’m sure the team worked hard on it (from what I’ve seen, at least)… But I just can’t in good conscience support this after what they did to Kojima. The game looks like this in my memories from when I originally played through it years ago, anyway.
These are my feelings too. I loved the trilogy when each came out, and return to them at least once a year. But nice graphics aren’t enough to make me support Konami.
Consider this an opportunity to take the money you could have put towards buying this game, and instead use it to purchase stock in Konami.
Not only as an investor will you have the ability to voice your concerns during meetings, if enough gamers were to do this - they could eventually wrestle controls of the company away from those that seek to monetise every single goddamn thing, while shitting on the creatives that created the work they are now trying to leech off of.
Y’all have been doing this with every GTA release since the very beginning of the series. I don’t know why everyone keeps falling for it. The PC port is coming; it always does. Most likely around Q4 2027, or Q2 2028 at the very latest.
Rockstar does this because people have very short term memories. They’re banking on your forgetfulness so that you’ll buy the console version, and then the PC version as well when they announce it a year later. The Rockstar double dip is their signature move.
Apologies if I’m coming off too grumpy, I’ve just seen a hundred similar comments over the last 24 hours from people outraged that a company known for unfriendly practices in an industry full of other companies known for unfriendly business practices have continued doing the same unfriendly business practices that are already happening everywhere.
Got it. No worries, I apologize if I came across as grumpy as well. For what it’s worth, there were a few things I liked from the direct (Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, and 3 seconds of Silk Song).
No Mick no buy. Fuck Bethesda right off, those greedy duplicitous cunts. Feel bad for the team tho, I don’t believe the decision to betray Mick came from below.
Mixed feelings about this. On one hand Deck Nine have, in my opinion, produced the best LiS content of the series. On the other hand, my opinion of them has soured somewhat since the whole nazi stuff came out: ign.com/…/how-hidden-nazi-symbols-were-the-tip-of…
Thanks for sharing this. I love the series so I will play this, tbqh I’m not sure these events mark Deck Nine out much from the industry as a whole sadly.
Off topic, what did y’all think of LiS2? I thought it was a real shame that it didn’t do as well as they hoped.
LiS2 wasn’t my favorite. It started to feel like misery porn after a while, not to mention bordering on the absurd with the variety of situations they put the kids through. I think the story would have been stronger without the cult chapter. Expanding on the themes in the last chapter might have been a better choice and more consistent with the overall narrative. I will say, though, the endings are solid in the “choices matter” department. Best in the series with that, and a standout in gaming in that category.
I liked Before the Storm and True Colors, so I’m definitely looking forward to Deck Nine continuing the series with Double Exposure.
I thought the writing was excellent, especially compared to the first game. It also had a bisexual storyline for what it’s worth but I generally thought it was such a great expansion of all their ideas.
Also loved the free teaser game captain awesome, and how it crossed over into the main game.
I feel like they really were stung by the overall reception of it, that we lost the storyline we’d have had if it had gone over well. I thought it was vastly superior personally. That said I’ve enjoyed all the games in the series. Before the storm feels janky at first but does have some decent writing in it also.
LiS2 is definitely their worst game yet. It was just plain not as interesting as the rest, and it’s the only LiS where your main character isn’t the one with the powers. Plus horrible things keep happening to them, so it’s just depressing.
On the other hand, I really loved True Colors. I thought it was really damn nice, but unfortunately you can tell something went wrong, because it was painfully short. The entire game happens in a single tiny location, leaving you wishing for more, and it never arrived.
Ultimately I’m more excited about Lost Records these days. Still hope Double Exposure ends up being good, but LiS as a series lost its soul over time
Yeah I think that is the general sentiment on 2. I didn’t feel this way at all when I played it.
I think the themes in 2 are so powerful and explored in interestin such interesting ways. It tackles growing up and responsibility but also obviously politics, protest, immigration, racism.
True colours gets in to some of these more global themes too, albeit in a much narrower scope.
I guess 2 was a lot more ambitious and clearly didn’t land for people as successfully
