I made the mistake of playing too much in early access and it was a lot of fun but I am worried it ruined the experience. Looking forward to trying a fresh playthrough!
And I make a point of avoiding early access (though I have been known to drift too far in the other direction and I play a lot of PICO-8 prototypes), so I’m looking forward to seeing this one with fresh eyes!
I’ve been playing for a few hours every patch to see most of the new content and then left it be for a while. Makes the game a bit harder since there’s enough time between bouts to forget some stuff, but it’s been a casual enough pace to not really diminish my excitement for launch at all.
Possibly the announcement from recent Direct that I’m most excited about, maybe it’s becasue of the proximity of release. I’ve been holding myself from playing early access for so long now… Hades 1 was such a comfort game to play on switch.
While some rougelites you can enjoy portably on ns/ns2 technically have more content, or rather are more varied in terms of gameplay (example Dead Cells with sheer number of possible weapon/build combinations), the progression itself being so tangled with story makes the expirience second to none.
I know. I’ve spent about $200 on sex toys for me and my wife during the last couple weeks. I’m willing to pay a lot for things that I know I’ll like and I care about experiencing. 😅 But this? I don’t care enough. But I’m happy it exists for you guys’ sake! ❤️
Still though, $15 here and $15 there and everywhere… Shit adds up if you want to experience the entire world. I’m not made of money, even though I make a good living.
Did you mistype, employ sarcasm, or were you not aware that the genre is named after Metroid, not the other way around? Metroidvania— games employing similar experiences to Metroid and some of the more notable Castlevania games.
I recently discovered what this is on my handheld and there are come really fun games. I’ve been playing Celeste Classic today and another that was an Outrun-esque that I forget the name of.
I am maybe in the minority around here. I am excited to play around with these games. Also, even though the narrator says you need to buy the accessory, I suspect the Labo thing or any of the cheap Switch VR headsets will do the trick, and that’s what I’m intending to use.
So they‘re selling a literal piece of plastic that becomes utterly useless the moment you lose access to their subscription service. Also, 14 games that they plan to release over time? Damn they must hate their customers with a passion.
It's a VB-themed redesign of the Labo VR kit. Should presumably be compatible with everything Labo VR supported (like, three titles I think?). Maybe the fact that they're bringing it back means they might reuse it in the future?
At that point, why not just 3d print one or something. Save money by not giving it to a scummy company, and hey, throw a raspberry pi in there or something with an emulator and you can probably actually run Virtual Boy games on it.
